  2. If you look at the pic, the long red bits, are actually bloodworm. They came to the surface as I dropped in a dash of cooking oil. I'm continually baiting the same spot where I had the big common from last week. It was baited every day while I was here, and got loaded up again when I arrived today. The Spomb mix for today was plenty of hemp, birdfood, some red maggots, boilies and mollassed rabbit mix, along with the chilli 🌢 flakes to try to deter the swans. Tomorrow's Rabbit mix is already soaking in the bucket with water, chilli flakes and sunflower oil.

  4. Forward planning is the key. The summer can be hard work as the days are soooooo long and a few weeks back I baked under the brolly all day and you are waiting for dark or the early morning. With the kids summer holidays coming up soon, a lot of lakes will be rammed with "dad's and lads". My son is going on holiday for a couple of weeks in September and the missus is dog-sitting for a couple of weeks in his house 20 miles away and so I'll be shuttling there every couple of days. After that, the calendar is free, the days cooler and gap between night and day shorter and I've booked a good few days off work and a spot on a few lakes. I might do a few short sessions on my local days only water in the meanwhile but hopefully cram a lot into the autumn window. An understanding wife also helps as long as I don't take the mick the rest of the year!

  5. Good luck, hopefully you are onto something now. I've been doing a big bucket a week, I doubt it last more than a couple of days though. I am going Saturday so it will get another hit when I leave hopefully, but I am tempted to leave it alone for a bit longer, I reckon all the pads will be putting people off and I might start another too. Don't want to have all my eggs in one basket this year. Especially now I've found a good cheap particle source near my home πŸ˜‚

  6. I've certainly got great memories from those short sessions where you just have to fish to satisfy the bug, but with the time restraints of work and a young family and travel involved it's very easy not to go. Had my first 30 on a Friday evening session after work and with a 6 year old in tow, actually saw him enter the bay with a huge bow wave heading straight for me, he sunk down before the spot and a few seconds later he was on and heading back out the bay, what a fight and what a great memory. 33.8 Two tone mirror: Then on a crazy early morning Saturday session I managed the biggest fish in the pond. It really was like being rewarded for effort and next to no sleep - pure desire and excitement making short sessions with considerable travel worthwhile - thank you carp gods! Truth is I was there at the best times to spot feeding fish or willing fish and mobile and stealthy enough to capitalise but hey give it to the gods lol Arnie: 36 mirror likely to be Italian bloodline Bit of inspiration to get you out lads πŸ‘

  7. I finally took a stand yesterday, booked Friday off work and will be out for a 24hr session. It'll be my first real usage of my new bivvy. I might pick up a cheap weighing tripod before I go. Looking forward to it. 😁

  8. If you can find a decent local venue where you can do a few hours in the evening or a small part of your weekend that can be more than enough - just finding the right place. Also lure fishing down the local canal and river or a spot of float fishing - it's all good. Some of my best fish have come from a Friday evening or early Saturday session - just a few hours stalking in the edge - 5 mins in the right place as they say.
