I've killed it now, I don't think i have the patients lol, I'm using the opportunity to clear out the garage and sell off some bits and bobs and do a tip run, I've taken all the good bits off it like the magnetic storm poles and taken the bag for my bivvy as its better etc, and I have a virtually unused front for it which they don't come with now so I shall try and flog that. I took my old broken bedchair out the bedchair bag and I now have a barrow bag by the end of today I am hoping to be more organised and have some toot on ebay and have done a tip run 😂 Tip run so far⤵️ I've now got spare bedchair legs for my chair and feet to spruce up my old jrc cocoon that the kids sometimes use, it feels like a result somehow2 points -

I used garden wire the sort you use to tie back climbers but it wasn’t up to the job, then I got hold of a cheap nasty wire coat hanger sniped a piece off and used long nose pliers done the job perfectly lasted years2 points -

After 14 years, it was finally time to say goodbye to my Golden Retriever yesterday. We knew the time was coming but it doesn't make it any easier. My daughter got married on Thursday and it was genuinely one of the best days of my life. The day after was one of the worst. A friend had him for the night, only the second time we've ever left him, the first being my sons wedding. When we went to pick him up, he wasn't right and our friend just shook her head and gave us that look that said it all. She has lost 3 Goldies over her life and knows the signs. As part of my wedding speech, a lot of it was focused on how my daughter had begged me for a dog and I wasn't keen but she wore me down. When he came along it was the most natural thing in the world and we immediately bonded. My handle Golden Paws comes as a reference to him and a Beckham joke. Ironically me and missus used to argue about bringing up the kids but our dog brought us closer together. I'll miss his boundless energy, our long walks in the Countryside and his absolute love and devotion. Goodnight old friend.1 point -

A friend new to fishing bought a second hand bedchair and was complaining about had it sags and was giving him a bad back he was saving up for a new one. I had a look at it pulled the elastic then snipped off about a foot redone the knot resulting in a firmer bed and no more bad back for him.1 point

I'd be well tinkering about with all this, saving the bungees n that......a mates mother would use the material from.under the bed and she can make gas cannister & alarm covers.1 point -
Teach proper mate , that’s what I say lol. I haven’t got a problem with kids going straight into Carp fishing . I don’t agree with it as such but everyone to their own My beef is with tackle shops that don’t want their business unless they are spending hundreds of quid on shiny Korda and Nash gear . My boy will be mastering the basics before I even let him near a reel .1 point

Looks great, and some lovely fish...Cold? I forgot what that is after 20 years in Thailand...mind you, a lovely summer's day fishing in Europe is missed. Here I lure fish for snakeheads and hampala barb from boats...and it's HOT!! Too hot now Still I bet over there once the water warms up it will be much better for fishing Actually, I'm dying to get back that way, at least for part of each year, for fishing and some more comfortable outside living Luckily it should be happening soon I'm watching your results with high interest Keep up the good work...and be careful on those steep banks! No fish is worth an injury...or worse1 point

I don't think they're noddy questions as I know I do or write things with no explanation as to me it may seem easy. I'll do the pop-up explanation first, as you've got it, it is simply trimming the pop-up by degrees until it's right. Braid blades and snick tiny pieces off, checking it in the margins. I do do the same with Multi-rigs as well. Sounds like more work than it is, as after a few tries you'll know roughly what to trim, then it's just the fine tuning. To get the lead, either inline or pendant, and the whole rig in the bag, I dry off the hookbait and hook totally, cover them in powder, then hook the inside corner and lay the lead in the opposite corner and fill with bits. Gently pull the lead up and shake the bag, topping it up. Gently squeeze, shake, squeeze and then lick and stick and twist the bag shut. Helicopter leads are easier, bits in the bag, lead on top, then fill, lick and stick. Hook the rig in outside corner.1 point -

i feel your pain as i found it to be one of the hardest things saying goodbye to my old dog Cadmus, he was with me from a pup and lived rough with me and was part of our family when things were better, 14 years he lasted before the dreaded C caught up with him, spaniel lab cross and mad as a box of frogs in his youth but mellowed with age. hardest thing i have ever done was say goodbye. 12 years ago and i still miss him,1 point -
In a river a hooked carp has plenty of opportunity to run you into snags. Part of the challenge is planning your approach to get your carp away from the bad stuff, I have usually worked out my strategy for a swim before my bait is even cast out. That last carp I had worked out how to avoid an island, trees, boat channel buoys and how to land and return any big fish. The swim was an 8' almost vertical drop to the river, I had spotted some little ledges I could get my feet onto sideways to climb part way down. I then had to feel confident I could do a difficult lift, at almost 71 I trusted a little adrenaline would get me through that. It did! Quite a few of my carp captures have involved me getting soaked following big fish downriver. Of course, I had already planned the safe way and how to exit the river if I ended up downriver of my swim. Car keys, phone in a waterproof bag in my pocket - just in case this happens! On the river Lot there is always a realistic chance these big fish can turn up, plan for that!😅1 point

Got some questions that’s troubling me about your pic Elmo… have you noticed that your net has been stolen from your handle and the cheeky sods have stuffed it in the mud… also have you upgraded your bait boat the white boat on the left of the pic is it me but it looks on the large size mate …just saying. It do look carpy tho1 point

Another blank, one rod came in clumped in weed, the banker (lol) came in without a hookbait attached(yes it did have one on before) , and my 3rd rod was OK, I did get to take a photo for the bloke next door though,he seems to have it sussed and doing good angling tbh, I am beginning to take this poor run of form a little personally, I'm giving my head a wobble now.0 points
