    Roughing it

I used to sleep out under the stars a lot when I was a nipper (the Boy Scouts , a wonderful institution) in just a sleeping bag on a tarp or groundsheet . The scouts taught me many things from the University of life . One of which is to knock it on the head once your body starts creaking 🤣 I love all my creature comforts when I’m fishing .

    Ronnie Rig Lead Help

Welcome to world of Carp angling . I see that in that 6 months you have progressed through the gears , surface fishing onto the feeder ( which is a great method by the way) and now what you consider the next stage . I agree with Nick , forget Ronnie rigs and whatever May or may not be considered to be fixed lead set ups and keep it simple to begin with . A simple running rig with simple knotless knot rigs and versions there of . Not only is it dead easy but possibly THE most effective way to catch carp . You can always migrate to “complicated” rig and lead set ups later if you must . you may not even want to by then . Google Keith Moors running rig ( it’s on this forum somewhere) and take a gander at Nick’s hooklink s on the sticky above this section . you won’t look back , good luck 👍🏻

  7. That's where vetting members, enforcing rules, and bailiffing effectively comes in to play. Tbh not knowing any better is no excuse for unsafe rigs these days imo. There has never been so much info relating to safety available, it's all right there at the tips of our fingers for anyone that can be bothered to look. But the fishery has to stand up and take some responsibility too. Banning everything so you don't have to look after the membership is not a healthy way to run a fishery.

  8. it not always down to stupidity some anglers don't know better i come up with some right daft stuff but i guarantee the safety of all fish a i catch, i mainly fish straight through anyhow my lead setups are super basic i will be using a lead clip on one rod this year the other on a heli, and if i get a third rod out it will more than likely be a solid bag re-cast every hour or so, then come the evening i will drop a boilie rig on the bag spot with the lead clip rod. all the lakes i fish are small so margin spots and snags are the norm, you know when a certain bailiff don't like you but can't fault your set ups or rig placement, you know your angling standards are above par. good enough for me.

  9. @yonny it was done because lead clip tail rubbers, inline leads being pushed on so tight, or even glued in place and the bad indication of helicopter rigs near snags, that the only way to stop people fishing with inappropriate setups was to make it a rule.

    Thought of the Day pt.2

Had a busy few weeks.... The Front Drive is now done, gates are up... At weekend removed old Gazebo and hot tub, Jet washed all around the house paths and decking, this morning started to re paint all front yard fences. Hoping to be done by Friday, maybe out for a day sesh Saturday. Then in April start on the back garden, build free standing pergola (got all the bits except the perspex roof), reprint all back fences and sheds.
