  8. I’m sure the barbless only rule is a hang on from the old fashioned hooks like the jack hiltons that looked more like a harpoon that a barb.

  11. Very true, this is because people see pictures on social media, don't understand the reasons behind the set up and copy like it's a fashion. I see a problem and buy kit that gives me a solution. i.e. additional long sticks for the front of the pod. If I can get my rod tips under the surface, that's first choice - less wind disturbance, bird life disturbance - and you cant see where I'm fishing. πŸ‘

  17. It is back on DAYS ONLY and LOCAL I won't be fishing for a while either not worth the risk to me too many people will just be doing what they want and going where they want, I have no problem with people who do it right and follow the rules BTW,

  19. I’ve written to my local MP underlying my mental health issues and how they’ve closed every outlet I had of helping my mental health. Woke up to an email from him this morning. We shall talk later he says, fingers crossed 🀞. I walk about 4-5 miles with my gear to my water. Where is the problem? I fish on my own even tho I’m not supposed to. I’m at least 10 foot from people in most of the swims.

  21. Very true mate, my mother in law has covid, she’s a nurse. My wife works in a care home that has covid cases and I work on an ambulance, dealing with covid cases. It’s difficult times for sure. Stay safe one and all.

  22. Might well be fashionable amongst some but its certainly not new. I remember fishing tips up with mega tight lines in the mid-late 80’s. The idea was to put the heavy fixed lead under maximum tension in order to improve the hooking efficiency. Worked too, the takes were amazing though occasionally all you got was a nod on the rod tip. Then we got obsessed with hiding the line with back leads and subsequently slack lines.....things do tend to go full circle.
