    Are we Happy?

I'm not disagreeing with that either, I'm certainly not naive enough too think we aren't being lied to constantly by media and goverments etc, I just worry that anger and a lack of middle ground is a bad thing for everyone, it's also probably easier than ever to make up big lies and remain hidden with social media all you need to do is feed the extremes and watch it soak into the mainstream,

  2. They are called Camotex impact leads. I am quite impressed with them and have been experimenting today. I made a crude video of how I intend to use them. I will eventually video one under lake conditions but at the moment it is 40 deg outside so to hot too be messing about. o

    Are we Happy?

Imo its a combination of this, and the fact that so many guys are furloughed and can spend all week on the bank. I'm happy, but I can understand lots of people are struggling. Humans are sociable creatures and when the ability to socialise is taken away by lock-down or distancing it's not good for our heads. Wont lie, it's doing my head in lol. Imo this toxicity is fostered by the powers that be. A conflicted populous is easier to control and lie to, than a united one. It is why I refuse to acknowledge any of it.

  5. Its been a good year, gained a lot of knowledge and have been able to get some new reels and gear. I haven't picked up a catfish rod since my first post of wanting to give up. Carp fishing is a skill in my opinion, I totally agree with the previous post. More than just baiting a hook. I have been fishing a couple of lakes and have found them to be more challenging than fishing the river. Enjoying it and have learned to use chod rigs and PVA bags at the lakes with some good success. Took time to learn and have confidence in my rigs. My advice to any one just getting started is don't become discouraged , it just takes patience and some time to learn. I'm still learning and know I have only scratched the surface. Vacation is just around the corner, going to Dale Hollow lake and hope to land my first Mirror Carp. Yes I'm having Fun.

    Are we Happy?

Hi all, Just a general question... Are we Happy at the moment in time with the fishng at the busiest it has ever been? Personally, I am in all aspects of life, Home, Work, Hobbys, Friends, Marriage. Fishing could be better but that's because too many people have decided to take the sport up as it was the 1st sport to be granted. What are other peoples thoughts? Come October when the cold sets in, we will see a decline in Anglers. BUT.... We have to be careful as come November whispers tell me a 2nd Wave (Virus) could be here, even until March.

    tubing or not?

I've used very similar hook links like that to my run rigs. But I haven't used tubing on the mainline. Just naked line to a run rig rubber bead with swivel inside. Good luck on your next session.

    Confidence

To me, confidence comes from results. As an example I've had a lot of confidence last year and the year before especially. I caught good and pretty much couldn't imagine to do better than I did. This year however has been blank galore and something completely different. When that happens, and it has before as well. You (or maybe I) need to change stuff. Doing the same thing all over again expecting different results is being an idiot, a smart dude once supposedly said. This year it was a friend of mine who actually got me to realize I was trapped into my once successful habit. After blanking 9 sessions in a row, stretching over 2 months, I changed rig, hooks, hookbait and the next session I landed 3 fish in 12 hours out of nowhere. If I had caught 1 I would have left it to circumstances but the change was so apparent it was ridiculous. What Iยดm saying is that changing stuff when things aren't working, is better than not doing so. How deep you want to take that is obviously personal but I personally don't like to keep things as it is, when I truly believe its not optimized even if it still "will work". I kind of feel now that this discussion went a bit out of control xD

    Confidence

I started thinking about this a bit and how you said it, and it seems this is what most people when they are asking questions like the above are missing, myself included, I wasn't blessed with a natural self assured nature, and it can be quite easy to look at small things in fishing and turn them into big things and issues, what us people that ask these questions are missing is CONFIDENCE, the way you phrased that yonny and I don't mean it in a disrespectful way is almost arrogant, like you WILL empty the place, and quite frankly that is probably the difference between some anglers that do regularly catch and those that don't, it's the belief that what you are doing will work, but I've started to understand this also a bit, you don't need fancy rigs and bait etc more determination and consistency, it's more belief and being on the journey that will lead to the success, we get it wrong, sometimes we need to change things, but one day it clicks and then like you, I will also empty the place, for now I am happy being on the journey that is what we all have to go through to get to this point tight lines all ๐Ÿ‘

  13. Was a time when I always had at least one tin of Bacon Grill in my bait bag. I'm going back to that time cos I'd almost forgotten just how good a bait it is. Haven't used it for ages, that's going to change! Ian.

    Are we Happy?

Honesty is the best policy. May sound daft..but think my crisis came when I was 22, got house, little en was born, reality started then and when he was about 6month old... I left for 2 weeks, now I just talk to the wife about anything regardless how small. Overall now, happy as Larry (whoever he is) Hope everyone else doing well/good.

    Are we Happy?

Totally agree with you on this one Nick, I am much the same but I think it's important to try and be happy, I also think it's important to be able to talk about it when you aren't, had a small moment today where I felt like a panic attack was brewing all morning, I had a meeting with my boss, she is a buddy and we get on but I just said can I put the air con on I feel like a panic attack is brewing, just being able to share that calmed me down and I could get on with it again, being honest really is the key for me, Hope your doing well carries on for you ๐Ÿ‘

    Are we Happy?

No point in being unhappy, it doesn't get you anywhere, says the person who can suffer from severe depression๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜‰ Single, reckon most of the time that is better for me. Work, surviving, got a few things on the burner, one of which could see me at my last place of work, even if it is a step down in responsibility, but possibly going onwards and upwards again. Friends, that is good, related to fishing, a long time fishing buddy and I got into the syndicate we both wanted. I was able to repay a long time favour. Years ago when I was struggling he lent me the money to join Earith, which he allowed me to pay back over time, think it took me 18months for ยฃ300. This year as he is self employed and not earning until the end of August, I was able to pay his syndicate fees, which I'm not in any hurry for, when it comes it come, if it does. (Not being funny, but I am not worried if he doesn't pay it back). Fishing, I do have to wait until 1st September to get carp fishing on the syndicate, but I have been looking at the Wensum, and keeping in touch with a couple of big barbel areas. Like Elmo I find this coronavirus rationale boring, along with the disagreements mask or no mask, lockdown or freedom. You make a point and keyboard warriors are looking to cause trouble. I have had to work with it. Hygiene has been a way of life, tissue or napkin over face when sneezing or coughing, washing hands after binning said tissue, before serving every customer, in the restaurant or bar, social distancing in the restaurant and bar.

    Are we Happy?

Fishing and home all fine, Tbh my lake isn't that busy so it's fine by me, just don't tell them that shhhh Work trying to stay positive but it does seem draining with all the redundancy and losing all my old colleagues, but I still find I can chat and have a laugh at times, in some ways it's good as we are all having to knuckle down and get on with it as we still have work to do, The old virus does my swede In still though, would rather we could all just agree to stay safe, bored of all it seems to bring, bored of all the talk of being sheep for wearing a mask and the its all lies chat on Facebook, but the main thing I find worrying is people's inability to disagree with dignity and rationality, people just use generic terms to pigeonhole each other Into being on a side, I think this is unsettling, people used to disagree and still be friends now we seem to have loads of keyboard extremists and no middle ground, I'm also finding this with fb fishing groups So am I happy lol, I'm still taking the meds but doing OK ๐Ÿ˜

  18. Appreciate your advice buzzbomb, Yes ground bait is allowed, as to a place, working on that. I believe fishing the river for my self in currents just comes more natural for me, I have been casting out lines in them for over 30 years. I enjoy the challenge of the lakes because I am able to use different rigs such as Chod rigs and pva bags. Locating the Carp is a game of stalking and a keen eye. I learned that the hard way and believed I could just cast out anywhere. All in all its a wonderful adventure every time I go out. Until next time. Photo is my River hot spot, very difficult to fish due to the solid jagged rock, steep bank, you don't want to trip for sure. Have a Matt in the water and a second Matt further up to protect the fish. Knee pads are a must, At times its difficult keeping those two rods in the water here with proper baiting.

    Rig ejection

No matter what anyone thinks of Korda, those vids were a revelation. I don't think any of us realised just how frequently we get done. Fact is we're likely getting stitched up numerous times before we get a take. It was these vids that taught us just how important it is to have a rig that can reset itself. That alone makes watching the vids invaluable imo.
