dayvid I truly like your Globetrotter Pod, and I will be purchasing the New updated Globetrotter Pod this week. I am hoping to be able to purchase some shorter legs for it as well. I had the Fox MK2, yes it was big and heavy, but it didn't move, solid! I fish the River a lot and this is where it came in to its own. Lakes with a lot of weed at the banks was a blessing to have this pod. I have two smaller pods, but rarely use them. I didn't haft to sink the legs in the ground or use tie downs or bend over to the ground to pick up my Rods, at my age, this is a big plus.

I'm trying to determine if wholesale-fishing.com is a Legit tackle online seller. If any one has any knowledge of this place, please share what you know. I would appreciate it very much. Thanks!

So true, I just ordered two different Tabasco from two different Vendors, hoping at least one will be decent. Now what I have done to help the issue is buy different Tabasco flavorings, some good results and some not so good, but I have been able to at least get the taste closer to Tabaco then what it was. I have found getting a good tobacco flavor is difficult. I will try Vampire, I just might try a little tobacco flavor to find out, you just never no, maybe some RY4, sweat, carmel with a smooth tobacco.

Good to know this, Now I will indeed continue to experiment a little, I have quit a few flavors and some sweeteners and cream always on my desk. I have some Boosters that could use a boost, just match up the flavors or add one or two. What I liked was only having to add just two drops to enhance the flavor in the cold water. I will always use my good glugs, but nice to know I can also use what I have to spice things up a little.

That's pretty cool, I have not tried to make any from scratch as you have, but someday I would like to try. I got a order of Booster liquids and sprays on the way and some new pop ups to try. It's in the 30's here in the morning but warming up to low 50's, this gives me about a 4 hour window to fish that I'm comfortable in. It's only a 3 minute drive to the gate to get to my river spot. I'm thankful I have a key and the only one who has permission to fish there.

Like many Carp anglers, I too like to apply a booster spray or liquid drops to my Hook Baits, Pop ups are my chosen. Good weather here has been running out and I wanted to take advantage of it. Didn't realize I was out of my key booster for my cold water Pop ups. So being a Vapor for many years sitting at my desk, right in front of me sit Flavor Concentrates of many flavors. I have 15ml bottles that are clear and potent. They cost me around $2.50 to $3.00 each. I add about three drops to a 60ml bottle of E-Juice to Boost the flavor. My chosen pop up for the day was Nash Instant Action Strawberry Crush - 12mm, I have good success with this one and Sticky Manilla when the water gets cold. But there are so many other great cold water Hook Baits out there. So I grabbed my bottle of Strawberry Flavor Concentrate and applied two drops to the pop up and was immediately impressed by the smell. It wasn't overpowering or fake smelling either. It was just right in my mind of course. So off I went to my chosen River spot. I landed two beauty's in a 4 hour session. Missed a couple as well. They were not violent takes but subtle ones and very finicky as well. The fist one was on the Strawberry Crush with the Strawberry Flavor Concentrate added by two drops. The second one was also on the Strawberry Crush with Strawberry's and Cream Flavor Concentrate added by two drops. I was thrilled and truly do not know the potential of these E-Juice Flavor Concentrates. Do they really work, or was it a coincidence. All I can say is with every imaginable flavors available, I will be doing more testing to find out. But based on the first go around, its has promise and the cost factor is even better.

Appreciate your advice buzzbomb, Yes ground bait is allowed, as to a place, working on that. I believe fishing the river for my self in currents just comes more natural for me, I have been casting out lines in them for over 30 years. I enjoy the challenge of the lakes because I am able to use different rigs such as Chod rigs and pva bags. Locating the Carp is a game of stalking and a keen eye. I learned that the hard way and believed I could just cast out anywhere. All in all its a wonderful adventure every time I go out. Until next time. Photo is my River hot spot, very difficult to fish due to the solid jagged rock, steep bank, you don't want to trip for sure. Have a Matt in the water and a second Matt further up to protect the fish. Knee pads are a must, At times its difficult keeping those two rods in the water here with proper baiting.

Its been a good year, gained a lot of knowledge and have been able to get some new reels and gear. I haven't picked up a catfish rod since my first post of wanting to give up. Carp fishing is a skill in my opinion, I totally agree with the previous post. More than just baiting a hook. I have been fishing a couple of lakes and have found them to be more challenging than fishing the river. Enjoying it and have learned to use chod rigs and PVA bags at the lakes with some good success. Took time to learn and have confidence in my rigs. My advice to any one just getting started is don't become discouraged , it just takes patience and some time to learn. I'm still learning and know I have only scratched the surface. Vacation is just around the corner, going to Dale Hollow lake and hope to land my first Mirror Carp. Yes I'm having Fun.

psychodiagnostik I agree with you about training these wild Carp to feed here in the USA on the Rivers. It has taken me some time to learn this and be successful. I buy a 40lb bag of chicken feed that sinks, at Rual King for nine bucks. Mix it with a can of corn with the juice and then add a bottle of Red soda.The mix is just sticky enough to pack it to get it out and it breaks down quickly, I also use Old fashion Oats not cooked at different locations with the chicken feed and red soda. This has been working very well to draw them in. I use a pop up rig 80 percent of the time, Kev Horton’s Pop-up Rig and adjust the weight accordingly to the current. I figured out a quick change method using Bullet Weights EGSA Egg Shot and can easily reuse them with no damage to the line or weight, very much like the Fox version for a lot less. size 4 and 5 work the best. When my wife gets bored, she will paint them for me. I only use Nash Instance action pop ups, mostly 15mm, flavor does vary, but had the best of luck with pineapple crush. My favorite spot has a lot of grass carp and they are awesome to catch, don't weigh them due to the bank structure being so difficult, but use a nice Matt that I extend out in the water to land them on and release with out harm. I would estimate that some I have caught have been in the 30's. Fishing for wild Carp in the River is a challenge! But the rewards are all worth it at the end of the day. I sure wish at times I could have a nice chair to sit in and a burner to make some fresh coffee like those good old boys do in UK, but that's okay, I grew up on the river and I am use to the harsh conditions, those big cotton mouths though I have not. fell a sleep the other day with my feet at the edge of the water to wake up and see one close to six feet in length just in front of me cruising down looking for a meal.

Finding the right Rod has been a very big Challenge. living in the United States. We just don't have those God Send Carp shops I see on the web in UK. Yes I am truly Jealous. I wanted a set of 9' 2.50lb. Rods. All the 9 footers seemed to have short handles except the new Wychwood - Extricator Plus 9'Rod and I will be owning a set of them soon. When I received my Chub Outkast 9'Rods, I was disappointed, the handles were just to short for my liken. The balance of the rod for my self was not good as well. To far and cost to much to ship back. I really like the action and fit and finish for the price. So I was determined to fix it. It took a lot of work, unable to purchase the correct diameter of a solid carbon fiber rod so I had to fix that to by carefully sanding it down and keeping it round, but I enjoyed it to say the least. Now I have 18" handles and the Rods are perfectly balanced with my reels, that took some work to, getting the weight distributed just right. There not the golden rods I see so many have in the UK, but there mine. This is my second season of a rookie carp fisherman and I'm addicted. I respect the Carp and they have given me some of the best battles and fun I have ever had fishing. Hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks to all who share there knowledge on this forum.

Thank you for starting this thread, I'm not new to fishing, but just started Carp fishing. I live in IN. on the Ohio River. I fish a channel off the River called Pigeon creek. Its loaded with Carp, Cat-fishing at dawn, I would see Monster Carp, I estimate to be around the 30lb range break the water next to a barge all the time. I went out and bought new Carp gear, spent a lot of money only to get Blank, Blank and more Blank. one day fishing down the creek, a school of carp Mocked me, they came up about 3 feet from the bank and stared at me. I packed up and went home. Thanks to the Lads on this Forum, I learned that they were spawning. I mainly fish with Method Feeders down the creek, to my surprise there are some big ones down there as well. Blank. Blank. Very discouraged, but never gave up. I watched a Video by Catfish and Carp, Luke fishes the Rivers here, he has some great easy to make and cheap recipes for method feeders. the one I hadn't tried was his Rice, Banana and Chocolate. I caught my first Carp with this. Rice and Ketchup recipes work great to. Time of day at the break of dawn and when the sun is going down and after 10pm with choice bait has been the key. I bought some artificial red worms off of E-bay from china to try, Cheep. used them with my method feeder straight on the hook and hook only with no weight. Working very well, Catfish like them to. I do soak them for a couple of days prior After I caught my first Carp, which took for ever, I gained confidence and had learned a little to. Carp fishing just took off. I wanted to give up and sell my gear and go back to Cat fishing, but I couldn't, I wanted so bad to be successful, Love my Carp Rods and Reels, there Awesome and that thrill of the explosion when Mr. Carp takes off for the border. these River Carp work out unlike the Lake and pond Carp. they swim up and down the river in Strong currents for long distances, There powerful fish and you know it when you have them Hooked. This will be my third post, to introduce myself. Newbie to carp fishing, 40 years of Bass, and Catfishing. Live in the USA. Grew up on the river and I now live next to the river. My practice is to release to preserve the Fish. I have seen many freezers full of fish that were thrown out due to being in there over a year to fill it up again. This just doesn't make since, it's wrong and I catch alot of slack for speaking my mind. The big Blues I use to catch are far and few now. I'm so excited to see how the Carp over there are released to catch another day and preserved. I'm learning Carp fishing and enjoy it as much as my Catfishing, ok a little more. My Loving wife has been supportive and has allowed me to buy more gear, considering I just bought new rods and reels for Catfishing, but I had to buy her a new reel and rod to. Minelab.

I'm a newbie to carp fishing, I live in the USA on the Ohio River. I walk most of the time to my fishing spots. When I came across CARP.COM Searching for information on how to Carp fish, I was intrigued with all the information and experienced anglers. I made my first post a few months ago and was Shocked by the response I got. Fast to respond with top notch knowledge that was Spot On. I want to thank every one for sharing your divine Carp knowledge, gear, bait and how to on this Forum. I finally have a good set of rods and reels. To day being black Friday, I ordered two Chub Outkast Plus Stalking Carp Rods, 9ft. 2.50lb. Will pair them up with my new Sonik Tournos 6000 Reels. We use the word here, Skunked, when you don't catch any fish. It took a moment or two to understand Blanked. I was asked how my fishing went, and I responded, I got Blanked. Wow a Kodak moment, whats Blanked he asked. Happy New Year every one and have a Great day.

The water has really cleared up and I'm excited to go Carp fishing. I have always used a round Baitcasting reel and with my new Sonik Tournos 6000 compact big pit carp reel, I have enjoyed fishing with it. Thanks again Minelab

I'm new to the Forum, and Carp fishing, would appreciate some advice. In all my years of Fishing, I have never been mocked or insulted by a fish until today. Using a Nash rod and Sonik reel, I tried a method feeder first and then top fishing with light tackle, bread and dog biscuits cut down, bottom fishing with boiles, all great recommended baits. Off of the Ohio river fishing in a creek about 180 yards down from the mouth of the river under a bridge. When I got to this spot, I was floored by all the carp in schools, hundreds of them, no kidding. When I was sitting on the bank, four feet in front of me, several of the Carp looked right at me with there mouths going, they weren't afraid of me even when I got up and walked around scratching my head, I threw out bait, and they just ignored it, corn, pop ups, bread and even dog food. I didn't catch a single fish in two days of fishing, but the carp just kept insulting me all day. There was big ones and small ones and in between. I gave up and came home and decided to ask for some help. If any one would please throw a tip or two out I would be thankful.
