  1. I've done away with any kickers over the last couple of years for bottom baits . If you look at your first rig Elmo imo you've clossed the gape of the hook a lot , if you draw a straight line from your kicker to hook point your see what I mean . I personally think to big a kicker will mean more fish getting away with it ? .

    multi rig questions

In order to combat this issue is use a hook bead to keep the loop in place.

  4. Not one Mate. I know I can't see the whole of the water in one walk, it is 10 miles round, but Dave and I stop at bridge and look both ways, head to either Birchwood or The Wonder then study with binos from there, both ways up and down.

    multi rig questions

Just remember you need to check them if you get anything that resembles a pick up, I thought I had a line bite last week turns out I'd been done and my rig wasn't performing for a while after that Or as Danny Fairbrass would say my rig was on the dance floor but with its trousers and pants rounds it's ankles getting laughed at even by bream That's the only real downside I can see to the multi rig it doesn't reset itself, if you're not sure give it a recast

    Losing the buzz

Having given up for a good few years I have to say Ive not been this excited about a fishing trip for ages, I spodded out a load of bait ready for tomorrow all on a lovely gravel strip every spod hit the clip and I just cant wait to get there now, I feel a little confident tbh maybe one of those elusive carp will slip up, if not i will learn something and get a step closer I'm just glad I've found the buzz again I feel like that kid that's peering over the edge of the pond through the reeds, looking for the mysterious big one that you only see as the sun goes down Happy days

    Easy bottom bait rigs

I've been using silicone lately as long as the hook eye turns to the angle you want it's fine, and easier to use as no steaming rqd I've just been cutting bits off old rig tubing will try and find a pic

    Losing the buzz

Well said mate a similar thing happened to me. For many years me and my best mate always fished together, started of sea fishing and then we moved onto pike, we travelled all over the Northwest plus upto the lake district and Scotland and then we did the full circle and went back to sea fishing mostly around the Northwest and north Wales with odd trips to the east coast. Anyway it was getting a bit much for me with two small kids and work so I moved back to doing some coarse fishing on my own and that led onto the carp fishing for me. My mate carried on with his sea fishing and is still at it today. We are still good mates but we just don't fish together. I'm the same like getting out on the bank on my own, gives me time to unwind and relax and I think when I'm out on your own fishing I personally put more effort and thought into my fishing. 👍 👍

    Easy bottom bait rigs

I probably will be the same, the loops are good and very easy to change when a new hook is needed and they take a sharpening, just never been a big fan of Korda hooks, might give the QL booms a go at some point, join the ronnie rig craze. There is a smaller company called Gemini tackle that sell on facebook they do a fused boom section that looks good, have a look they do a full ronnie kit.

    Easy bottom bait rigs

bad eyes and arthritis don't allow me to make anything other than basic rigs these days, so maybe I'll just buy the bits ready made from now on...

    Easy bottom bait rigs

Tried them myself the last two sessions out, they are an ok combi rig better than a coated braid rig but not as fine as a hand tied combi the join is not as good. Can tie my own combies and have been doing so for donkeys, but have started to look for something a little less taxing on the eyes, did think about getting some korda crimp pliers but a bit pricey for what they are so the booms are a good compromise, been thinking about using a different braid for the hook and tying my own hooks ups and connecting them to the boom section with a simple palomar knot? Any thoughts on that anyone? The Korda braid loops are a bit stiff out of the packet but become more supple when wet, think some of the finer Kryston braids would be a better hook section.

  12. Talk about others trying to cash in! Last week on my session before starting the new job on Wednesday, Dave and I arrived at the reservoir on Saturday. There had been no carp anglers on there at all this season, god knows I had been walking it enough, but Saturday, exactly where my bivvy had been, someone else had set up. At first Dave could not get why I was so upset about it, but I think other people eventually got him to understand. Ended up somewhere totally different, with a longer walk at another bay, not quite so sure of it, but it has prospects. Again, no fish, but more learnt. Fished the same spot again this week for two nights, from Sunday after work until tonight. Still trying to find them.
