elmoputney Posted March 14 Report Posted March 14 I've found the Nash, Gardner and fox ones 6ft and 8ft , which is a good one for mass baiting with particles that allow you to fire out a load of particles in a matter of minutes at a reasonable range? Quote
elmoputney Posted March 14 Author Report Posted March 14 I've got an old spoon and landing net handle to try first, I wonder if the lack of flex will stop me getting as far though. Quote
elmoputney Posted March 15 Author Report Posted March 15 I guess they must be an edge if no one has used one before. 😂 commonly and B B 2 Quote
B B Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 I was fishing a double swim with a mate and walked around to the far bank to feed hemp and corn 6 rod lengths out from the bank with the same setup up as you. I found a sort of side ways flick was better as you didn’t get covered on your head with the bait. 🤔 I did try 15mm boilies as we were packing up to gauge how far they went and was amazed how far you could get them out. .. Tip of the day.. Have a practice for 30 mins out your back garden just to get your eye in and let us all know how you get on, a pic would be interesting 🫣 elmoputney 1 Quote

Was just wondering if the fox ones would be able to get much further with the added flexability. I will see if this one does the job before rushing out to buy one though. My garden isn't that big and I might take out some dog walkers behind lol, a couple of buckets will be enough to get my eye in 😱 commonly and B B 2 Quote
B B Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 I see what you mean about the flexing …looks like he’s loosing his balls elmoputney 1 Quote

jh92 Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 I think the flex might help with range, depending how far you wanna hit you might be better off using some sort of groundbait/binder to roll it up into balls the size of tennis balls and fire them out with it 👍 elmoputney 1 Quote

elmoputney Posted March 16 Author Report Posted March 16 I bought one, I went for the 8ft fox one it's 2 piece and longer which means it should give me a little more distance by being the most flexible and be easier to transport. kevtaylor and yonny 2 Quote
kevtaylor Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 I've tried this with a landing net pole and my big Fox scoop thing, hopeless - couldn't get any distance, but then I gave up on the throwing stick after the first session - took years before I tried again and got it sorted lol Good luck Elmo - a made for the job one has to be the way to go. 👍 elmoputney 1 Quote

I'm OK with a throwing stick but you need to get into a rhythm, I found using a korda bum bag helped because it saves you having to stop to pick up more bait. kevtaylor 1 Quote

Oh I'm good with a stick now, became my go to at the end on Welly, matching pop-ups over a light spread with the stick, surprising how accurate you get. At first they were falling behind me, too embarrassing! I think with the spoon the flexible handle has to be the one to add distance 👍 elmoputney 1 Quote

I've never used a straight one. I've got a ridgemonkey one now, much prefer the carbon ones to the plastic tubes. Quote

I still use a Cobra Ace. I do lose distance with a straight stick, and the Korda one I gave up on, I need 2 hands over my head. Got me thinking about the dog ball throwing stick... get your groundbait balls consistent. 9 hours ago, elmoputney said: I found using a korda bum bag helped because it saves you having to stop to pick up more bait. Have you tried the groundbait launchers you can attach to your rod? I bought one for a couple of quid but haven't got round to using it yet. Quote
yonny Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 For real distance you need a long, curved stick. For accuracy and shorter range, straight is best. 9 hours ago, elmoputney said: Have you tried the groundbait launchers you can attach to your rod? Hated them. It's like going back in time 20 years when we were all spodding without the line clip. All over the place 😂 elmoputney 1 Quote

Vitalin (now Vitacarp) binds lovely to get it out there, and with a good catapult I saw 100metres reached! In fact I saw 1 guy able to throw his balls 70metres, it actually made Angling Times! I do sometimes ball up groundbait to go in the Spomb, and often add in loose pellets in the area above it, or even wade out with a bucket of groundbait balls in certain swims on the syndicate. Quote

elmoputney Posted Thursday at 11:18 Author Report Posted Thursday at 11:18 Hand of god arrived, just fired some imaginary baits in the garden they went miles tbh. I definately don't think I'll regret getting the 8ft, you can feel the flex pushing the fictional baits further. commonly, yonny and B B 1 2 Quote
