It's probs light condensation on your bag from your breath, frosting overnight, meaning it's damp in the morning. A waterproof cover will help, it'll frost on that instead 👍

Good old winter fishing.... love it.

This morning I woke up to the top of my sleep system damp, is this the heat coming off the bag and meeting the cold air?

Just wondering if something like this would stop it:

https://thetackletavern.co.uk/product/nash-waterproof-bedchair-cover-camo/?attribute_type=Wide

I don't think its from the bivvy itself, I always get condensation on the inside but doesn't make the sleep system damp if that makes sense lol.

What shelter you using does it have a twin skin or skull cap on it?
apparently it was quite misty last night I also heard the wife scraping her car windscreen this morning so it must have been cold lol

Is it something to worry about mate? I'm a bit paranoid about it pulling through and ruining the sleep system lol.

Nash hide xl mate and no wrap or skull cap, I do have a door for it but only use that if the rain is driving in lol. Yeah it was a bit frosty 🤣

I think it's condensation from your breath and the ground.

I use an Ultimate Night Fleece Cover myself.

I know that it's colder and you get more condensation not using a groundsheet, but even so I still often don't in winter on single overnighters

It's completely normal/natural, can't be stopped. A protective waterproof cover will help protect the system if you're worried.

Single skins used to be notorious for condensation

if you can get a skull cap or skin for it that will make a difference as the skeleton of the frame work will create an air gap to help.

( apparently, putting the unhooking mat on top can also help)

most other umbrella type shelters with the spokes on the inside can’t create the air gap so the skull cap/ skin is pointless.

a waterproof sleeping bag cover will help to stop the bag getting wet.

Thanks for the replies 👍 I'll see how I get on, if it starts pulling through the sleep system and gets damp inside it ill get a waterproof cover 👍

If you can find one that Ultimate fleece cover I use is perfect in summer to sleep under itself, and it has a mozzie mesh in a zip up pocket on the front.

I confess, I don't know if it is still available but here is a link:

It may be an eBay search for unsold stock

Other than raise the temps in the bivvy above the outside temps you will always get condensation the ultimate bivvy set up is a pricey silent generator way over powered and a 500 watt heater once seen a guy with a halogen bulb heater the warm orange glow looked worth the 2k generator you need to run it.
