sgtsmiffy Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 just a thought we are all trying to disguise our rigs out of site from the carp .but from past experiance most of my fish are caught at night or low light levels early morning or dusk . i wonder what sort of ratio of carp captures are at night on waters allowing day and night fishing. zammmo Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 In my own expieriance it dos'nt seem to make a lot of diffrence between day and night but dawn and dusk is still the best time to be fishing... Quote
beanz Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 if differs from lake to lake, some are prolific night waters, others you cant buy a bite at night . some thing to think about though is whether you want rig camouflage or rig concealment to some anglers its the same thing, others it a totally different approach Quote
sgtsmiffy Posted January 15, 2011 Author Report Posted January 15, 2011 most carp caught at night would not see your rig as apposed to daylight. my point being are carp more off there guard at night, on some waters. Quote
beza26 Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Funnily enough iv'e caught most of my fish in the day, on a not so easy water too. Actuallly iv'e never had one in the night off that water. Very rare i catch in the night. always the day Quote
craiggater Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 I got to agree there most off my carp i had at night. I fish on a lake in the day its hard to get a bite but at night u can get up2 5 a night easy. Quote
sgtsmiffy Posted January 16, 2011 Author Report Posted January 16, 2011 most of my fishing is a week at a time so you tend to see apattern form over the week . i have had the odd fish during the day but all if not most are at night , is this because the rigs are not seen at night .the lakes i fish are 35-40acers in size 4-6ft deep manliy clay bottomed itry to keep my rigs simple and match the lakebed as well as the next man, are we catching more at night becuase the rig is nigh on invisible Quote
majormatty Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Just out of curiosity sgtsmiffy how many carp did you have on the last trip that was a week long ? Quote
moorsey Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Carp see in a much wider colour spectrum than we do and it includes the infa-red and ultra-violet features so none of us can be absolutely sure just how much they can actually see in any conditions. Quote
sgtsmiffy Posted January 18, 2011 Author Report Posted January 18, 2011 pvt matty we said we would never speak of it again ive got to lie down in a darkend room for days all joking aside what do you think with your limited knowlege Quote
majormatty Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Oit watch it and i think that the carp can see the same night and day what ever the weather but i do seem to catch more at night but only on the week sessions thought. Quote
sterry Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 I notice alot of anglers are saying they catch more at night well for me i have never caught at night i would say my best time first sunlight i seem to catch more ? and steadily through out the day but at night not a nibble ? Quote
tel90 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I notice alot of anglers are saying they catch more at night well for me i have never caught at night i would say my best time first sunlight i seem to catch more ? and steadily through out the day but at night not a nibble ? This just goes to show that every water is different, though i would say that sun up is def a brilliiant time on most waters. I've fished waters that very rarely produce during the day and others that prodominently fish better in the hours of sunlight, sometimes they just eat when they feel like it!!!!! Surely this is why we love our sport, because as long as there is a bait in the water, camoflauged or not, there is always a chance!!! Quote
salokcinnodrog Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 I've brought this back from the Abyss, as I was going through my photobucket and found a couple of rig pics I took on a lake. It is not the most coloured water, yet even up close and personal, it is almost impossible to see the actual rig underwater. I know the hookbaits are easily visible, I know that on one it is possible to see the tubing, and looking carefully, the lead. These pics may have been taken in the margins, but just how visible is the rig out in the main lake where the water is deeper and visbility not so clear. Is the main lake going to be so clear in gravel as it is in the top picture? As an add, from the top picture, I did actually catch a carp from that spot! Quote
newmarket Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 I remember those pics nick . The kgb agent in the bottom one Quote
dalthegooner Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Nice idea, but without using a Polaroid lens those pictures don't give a true representation because of the glare on the water. Quote
victormeldrew Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 Surely it depends how clear the lake is,in the lea valley the pits are like tap water so you can see why night fishing might be better,if this place you are fishing is always coloured up then camafage is less important imo Quote
