So I've happily spooled up the hydrotuff. I also got the Nash 40lb mono snag leader and to my disappointment I was unable to tie it to the mainline with my preferred allbprite knot. I had many failed attempts. The snag leader is is too stiff. I then tried the pictured end to end grinner knot, which was also quite tricky and many failed attempts. I managed to get away with 3 turns on the snag leader grinner. Tested to destruction because I want to do everything I can to make sure I won't get cut off again. Not a particularly the nice, neat knot that I was after, so I wondering if anyone knows of a better knot??

I recently brought the shimmy spod rod. Very impressed with it. Only problem is I now want 3 new rods to match. Is there a lot of difference between the tx2 & tx4's? Apart from the obvious cost!

What's the deepest depth in feet, a carp will feed or has been caught? The reason I ask is that I like the look of the water tower, on this reservoir, but know it drops off to 60ft quite quickly and it's got to be hard to present a hook bait near it, without going to the bottom..... So I'm unsure what to do??

A good angler I know is the same, but my thoughts were that when fishing a short hook link or chod. The lead would end up beating the fish to death in the battle. His jaw dropped when I illustrated it to him. Personally I prefer to know the lead will drop on the rare occasions I've used that set up.

Yes I'm planning to give the dam wall a bash second week of November. I'll try to get there and do a bit of marker work beforehand. Hoping and praying to find a ledge. Although rumor has it that they fill it back up first week in November. So a bit of an unknown, but all adds to the adventure 👍

99% of the time I've been there, unfortunately there's waves to nearly a foot. It's such an expanse if water on the side of a hill, the wind is constant, even when it's not forecast for any. My eyes often play tricks on me after watching the water for a while. It's hard because the water is never flat calm. I take your point and try to learn every trip , but I know with this place it's a marathon not a sprint.

I should be so lucky, it's a few hundred meters with the barrow to the nearest swim. A bit further as the waters dropped. General rule of thumb is you should be over a hundred yards away from the nearest angler. So can be a bit of a trek. The guys that use boats drive to the launch slip which looks easy enough to load straight into a boat. I jyust need the spare £££'S to buy an electric outboard and battery. Normally it's the time of year I'd ask for this kind of prezzy, but going to be looking at cost saving this year. Even plan on donating certain items to those less fortunate than myself

My mate wants to get down there but it's a marathon with the barrow. Most guys go by boat, which we can't at the moment. Similar, looks snaggy with old tree stumps and the dreaded rocks.

Yes. The sailing club tend to be at that end, they are not supposed to get within a 100yds of us though. The opposite end is out of bounds nature reserve. I'm told the fish are seen up there more so than anywhere else 🙄 Love the chops idea, especially if I can't find a ledge. Nice one

Yes I've looked at those pods around £120😳 I did tie on 20ft of armakord 50lb, but I'm not so sure that would be the answer as the stones, rocks etc are sharp as razors. Hydrotuff appears to be sold out most places. I'm not so sure that's the answer either??? Im leaning towards the dam wall as there isn't any rocks there

One other option, is to fish from the dam wall. Do you have any experience here Nick? My concerns here are that boilies will keep rolling down to the bottom (80ft) when full up), unless I can find a ledge. So is it worth prebaiting and freebies? Also from what I can tell I would only be able to get 3 bivvy pegs in the joins of the concrete??

So having been cut off and totally gutted, I've done a small amount of research and considering using poly balls to get my mainline off the deck. Has anyone tried this and got any pointers. Much appreciated

It's gt HD the Hydrotuff hasn't been delivered 😢 The rocks I'm bivvied up on are all quite sharp so they must be the same further out. Like I said I've beefed up the last 12ft and tightened up to the lead to try and minimize the line lay on the bottom. All pieces I have to learn to complete the puzzle. Got until lunchtime tomorrow to try and bag one🤞

Well my worst fears came true. Got a bite, felt a good tug, then snapped up!! Flipping gutted!! Hydrotuff didn't turn up. Tried threading on some tubing, blooming nightmare that is. Not allowed lead core so I'm going with 50lb leader. My mates lost two as well, beefing up the last few feet to try and avoid any repeat losses. 🤞🤞🤞

Have you tried the Katapault? I know it's that brand, but I wouldn't buy a different one since having them. Haven't needed to yet, but you can buy spare elastics too. Had to buy a spare when I left it at home. Had them several years, no issues really. New cable tie here and there is all. Very comfortable for 12-15 boilies at the range you're after mate
