  1. Yeah, better once the rug rats are back at school, in terms of the missus being more agreeable
  2. Not yet mate. Its proving quite tricky getting this tied up. I'm trying. Shall we say open to suggestions on dates and venue until Monday. Then try to get things confirmed????
  3. I've blanked ar Linear a few times, there's some lovely fish there. BB, Do you know if they want a deposit? As others have previously told me, it's hard getting members to cough up in advance. Nothing is firmed up, so we could July/October?
  4. Evening gentlemen, Apart from BB & Chillfactor, I haven't heard anything from those that showed an interest. Last time (2019) it was clear getting people to pay up, turn up,the risk being conned etc. was a concern. Having looked into how best to get members involved, pay the venue directly & have 10 or more guest in somewhere suitable, Horseshoe seems a good suitable venue? It would be nice to approach the venue to confirm dates & rough numbers. So, please respond to the above, or we can be totally open to suggestions for another suitable venue? Muchos Grassyarse!
  5. https://www.thecarpsociety.com/shop/carp-society-memberships-/ £25 to join, not the membership cost you first see on the link previously posted

  7. Nudge, nudge to those that are interested! I propose Horseshoe, seems to fit the bill & has scope for more or less members. Any objections? If not I suggest everyone interested should join the carp society and we can let the know that intend to turn up in mid September. Thanks
  8. OK. Thanks gents. So,we're up to a nice round 10. We can't get Elmo in trouble. Weekend after 15th? Chilly, how many nights were you thinking of mate?
  9. Nice one ! Shall we say September? Friday and Saturday night?
  10. So, I make that an impressive 7 with myself. To confirm Ian Welder +1 Elmo Snowman Steveo Interax Bluelabel Anyone else interested? Thanks gents
  11. Thanks gents. It would appear that there is only a handful of us interested, so a private venue will be fine. Embryo looks good, but may well be booked up. Merrington looks OK too. I think if we had 8 of us, its £80-90 each. Mid to late September? October? I'm totally flexible atm. But, would like to get this tied up and paid for asap.
  12. As above. (unofficial to Carp. Com) There's a few people interested. Autumn time, so we can be flexible. Venue TBC. Names & availability please guys
  13. Not sure how the emoji got in there??? #Buzzbomb
  14. Great news Ian!! Just need to fly buzz😇bomb over & we are officially having a carp. Com social🤣 I'd like to think Nick might join us??
  15. Yes, that's right mate. I love fishing venues that feel a bit special. That place has its own story and I think it would be a fitting venue, if we can get the numbers. That said, I'd be open to sensible suggestions. My thinking is early autumn. September/October??
  16. Can you pizza or curry delivered? Fingers crossed for you buddy
  17. Nice one Ian. I will do my best and probably ask you for some guidance. I'm sure one of the carp society guys messaged last time. He was able to get us on Horseshoe
  18. Thank you Buzz. We've got 100 guaranteed millionaire lottery tonight. If I win I will get you over and nice new shirt 🤓
  19. Nice one mate! Appreciate it. So far that's 3, then. Anyone else up for a social??
  20. Thanks Elmo, it was an end to his decline. He had a very good life, as did most baby boomers. [censored]ed it all up the wall though😏 As they say, it's the only thing that you can be certain, will happen to everyone! The trouble in 2019 was not many people were up for it and tying up dates. That's why I thought I'd try earlier in the year. All help gratefully received mate, I'm hoping someone with a bit more authority than me would get involved? I'm just an average member, (excuse the pun!)
  21. That sounds like you'd fit right in. Everyone on here would be welcome mate. So you're up for it then?
  22. So, I lost my dad today. Knew it was coming, old buggar kept going for a few more months than was expected. Heavy drinker and smoker. Liver packed up, blah, blah! I didn't think it would bother me, but when I look back, the good times were few and far between. He took me fishing for the first time and I will always remember that, fondly. Not that he was an angler. I got into it and he was wasn't, always too busy at work to go, etc. So, I suppose I have to be grateful for the introduction to one of my few passions in life. Life is for living and none of us know how long we have??? I recently dug out a post from 2019 when life was kind of normal, Carp.Com social@ horseshoe lake. It would be good to have an event to look forward to, so I ask the regulars, are you up for a social? Enjoy gents, best wishes to you and your families
  23. Full moon too! I really wanted to, but the Mrs is training this weekend, so no can do. Went out last week, blanked. The wind was making 1ft waves across the reservoir, thought the bivvy was going to take off a few times. Maybe next time
  24. £7 per K is what I happily pay for Mainline, delivered. 😊 A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to get A2 for £3 a K!!
