Gardner Hydro Tuff v Berkley Trilene Big Game
commonly replied to crusian's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I totally agree -
I use fox fine bait needle to thread the floss, baitstop and blob tag ends for that very reason! With all the money, kit, effort in prebaiting, loading and setting up, the last thing you want is to loose your hook bait.

I use dental floss, no carp tax!!

With the cost of living literally going through the roof and the wages still the same as 20 years ago, I'm afraid that crime will increase as people can't afford anything. The police haven't got the resources to cope, either. They are just like the tax man, looking for easy fines to dish out. Sorry if I'm being a bit negative, guys.

Parasites mate. We've got a few pikey camps around, it's likely to be them. I do know a few people who know a few elders, but I'm not holding my breath. Good for your mate, I hope he gave him a good talking to?

My fears of rising petty crime were realized today. ๐ญ My garage on the other side of town was broken in to. All my mates fishing gear(10 years WORTH) , some of mine (luckily I had most of my gear in the van) several power tools and anything they could sell for a few quid! I'm talking a big van load of gear, not just a few crackheads! They haven't damaged the standard lock, so must of picked it! I avoided doubling the locks as a few others have, so as not to attract attention Do I go and put locks on now? If they think I have replaced any gear, they are likely to return & will get in anyway.

I don't know if I can take much more of this. I may have to have to take a look if this keeps on any longer๐๐๐

Not a fan of the adverts popping up on this site, but occasionally there is an exception to the rule๐

Gutted! The man was clearly robbed, first time I've never watched the podium, etc. Every overtake was a late lunge, unsporting conduct, Schumacher mk2๐คฎ

It's hard to get my good side (and never done a selfie) , so I'd just like to rule myself out for the calender. ๐

I couldn't of picked a worse 48hrs, got drowned setting up, everything was caked in mud. Still blanking my Harris off. At least it was dry this morning. Nice to get on the bank

I'm sure Highy will back me up when I say Sonik do reasonably priced decent RODS. Cork handle available. My 3rd rod (XTR 3.25tc) was snapped by a mate stuck in a tree ๐ญ, other than that they've done all I've asked of them for 8 years. I am looking to change soon, to the shimano TX range, as much as anything to match my reels. Seem reasonably priced. I brought the TX spod rod last year and I'm very happy with that.

Not many day tickets interest me, but that lake has an appeal. There's a few gems in there, good luck BB

Looks nice there David. Good size common last night. I can't wait to get out next week for a 48. Best of luck mate ๐

8ft - 9ft retractable rod advice please
commonly replied to Smurfitt's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I brought one of these instead of a telescopic rod. Sorry it's a dated version but they do a newer Tribal version in 4 piece https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313680510015?hash=item4908d0bc3f:g:ZqQAAOSwvvhhJPyb Great bit of kit, fits nicely into a suitcase. I've had various size shimano reels on it, but go with the 10000 bait runners for a nice balance -

Imo if it snaps between two pulling tools, it will definitely snap with an angry 20+. I do pull to near destruction for my own piece of mind. 3 turn blood knot on fluro hook link. Often I find different knots snap depending on the line material, so I keep trying different knots until I am happy that they won't give up on me I would put it under a lot more tension than most carp, I do still test them You get them in mate, so do what your comfortable with, it works for you. -

If I can pull a rig apart, then it is not good enough. Agreed a 20lb+ fish will easily do the same. Not fish safe, if the hook link will be left in its mouth. I test each and every rig to near destruction. -
