  1. You know this is going to be good a recent addition that might not be on sale for long sounds like it was made for the trop mix, Fruit Bomb a mix of John Baker's i don't think all anglers realise the work John puts into his bait, i've been blown away with everything i've seen and used, so much so i'm definitely rolling my own going to get a large 20 mm gardner table and their heavy mix gun kit, thinking the 20 mm will be easier to gun out and roll giving me a nice size bait to either fish as large chops or full on duck choker, my last attempt gave me a good idea of what will work best for me...Strawberry, raspberry and plum. https://www.johnbakerbaits.com/product/fruit-bomb/ Might plump for a large bag of the JB indian spice the name really doesn't do the mix any justice to just what it is it's the best krill bait with a real indian curry house zap.
  2. depends on the time of the year really a safe bet is the hemp, to be honest i'd stay away from oil till may-ish essential baits do a fermented cranberry liquid it's on my to get list. https://www.essentialbaits.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_13&products_id=39
  3. John Baker's spectrum milk and cream in fact any of his liquid additives are the best stick mix liquids you can get, that milk and cream smells like whipped ice cream, why his gear is not more popular is a mystery the quality is always ahead of the game, i did ask him if he would consider using a rolling company to sell rolled baits, says he would not be able to guarantee the same quality bait with a third party rolling his bait sounds like he is working to real tight profit margins. https://www.johnbakerbaits.com/additives-other-products/
  4. making friends is easy you just need to be nice and non confrontational, a people pleaser get it right and you will have a lift in no time. you sound young so don't be to put off if you struggle to get on a syndi, Chris who runs a few waters in the midlands will give young lads a start on his waters, in fact he prefers them as they are more up to date with modern angling etiquette, gutted i lost my ticket there, think i might of already mentioned that though. 🙈
  5. Feel for you guys up north one of the reasons i could never live in bonnie scotland well that and the SNP Warwick is nearly as bad for carp angling unless you like match fishing style, you all need to get some sort of traveling syndicate on the go, all chip in for a cheap van or a rental once a month get yourselves down south. Not easy getting that first car these days it's all about milking you guys as usual, 40 min driving test for me no extra sillness needed, driving is a right for all it's not a privilege.
  6. Kurt Cobain was a bad lad if you are a Led Zep fan might want to give this one a miss, tell ya the west cost USA really dose put out some on point diss tracks. Aero Zeppelin... can see why axle rose wanted to deck him lol.
  7. If i get out before the end of March will it count as winter angling 💪
  8. won't link the video but i really hope it's a sales gimmick that don't catch on, mooching around a busy day ticket water lamping isn't going to go down well with the other anglers, then there's the 100 note headtorch, if i was going to splash out on a head torch it wouldn't be a tackle brand, unless it was made by one of the known head torch makers on behalf of the tackle brand selling it. either way i think a water wide pre-ban on"lamping carp" is in order.
  9. Oh they are waterproof and super warm just a bit uncomfy to wear in comparison to some of the softshell clothing.
  10. If you do visit go outdoors stay away from the Westlake tackle it is not worth buying.
  11. I bought a ron thompson suit years ago horrible stiff tent like material the thing is indestructible so i'm stuck with it, i would like some snugpac clothing but i'm stuck with tailored tarp. Like the trakker suit and the fox, not handled the vass stuff but the winter gear looks good, what are they like to wear all day.?
  12. just thought i'd throw it out there love my 10 footers.
  13. Angling direct have the 10 foot 3lb test in the black widow i'd get them as first choice. looks like they are selling fast the reels are nice and solid as well.
  14. in the long run it might be i bet there is little difference in them though, if you wish to fish solid bags or stick mix you would be better off with the 3lb test curve rods in either have a look in go out doors they are doing a sonik kit think it is a two rod and reel kit https://fishdeal.co.uk/t/carp-fishing-combo/sonik-xtractor-2-rod-carp-kit-multiple-options?v=174863&gclid=Cj0KCQiAmpyRBhC-ARIsABs2EAqz5Ugy2Jbsehh7bq7FwoJkysYpaXQHoCVoNUfXQdbrI9JEhLN-tu0aAkhCEALw_wcB The black widow kit by dawia would be the best option for rods and reels though.
  15. All the daiwa rods and reels are good to use and reliable, sonik is another good brand a lot of the budget brands have upped their product range.
  16. I know it not a angling analogy but if you look at the attitude in this country to products on the black market you will see that a total ban cause more problems than the product itself when in a legal environment, most people in holland don't like Amsterdam, i don't like Amsterdam been once as an adult found real boring, but it does work. total bans don't do much to solve a problem just means society can blame an individual person thinking they have solved the issue by punishing the transgressor, it is a leftover from victorian era policing.
  17. Novice carp angler run from weedy lakes that's why they are getting hard to find i'm not a fan of that blue lake dye it makes the angling more difficult, plus i cracked a joke or two about the portaloo leaking also tried a spool of blue fluro, that got a real dirty look even i swapped the spool back, it did work though.
  18. The nearest i have come to fishing a run rig is with inlines that come off the sleeve, it's not good in weedy water or at least i don't like it too many balls of weed on the line 10 foot in front of the fish that was on pine pool, i have found the heli works best in weed the line is better bow string tight and that looks awful. Always thought running rigs were for clear areas?
  19. Did one of them find their Yoko...💥 looks like they are off trying the vanlife videos not sure that will work in the UK get called a pikey end up going shirtless with a wheel clamper. 🤠
  20. it not always down to stupidity some anglers don't know better i come up with some right daft stuff but i guarantee the safety of all fish a i catch, i mainly fish straight through anyhow my lead setups are super basic i will be using a lead clip on one rod this year the other on a heli, and if i get a third rod out it will more than likely be a solid bag re-cast every hour or so, then come the evening i will drop a boilie rig on the bag spot with the lead clip rod. all the lakes i fish are small so margin spots and snags are the norm, you know when a certain bailiff don't like you but can't fault your set ups or rig placement, you know your angling standards are above par. good enough for me.
  21. one of the lakes i'm on has drive to pegs i want to get on elsons a bit this year so that will be a trot it is a safe enough place to do two barrow loads but always best avoided if you can on any lake.
  22. bailiffs lol most of them couldn't run a hook a duck stall, think they call themselves some sort of business director these days, i know there are loads of top woman anglers about today far better than me, but a water i looked at had some crazy looking doris running the membership not an angler herself and very patronising towards her members in a nice way, no thank you. i'm thinking of stiffening up the section of mainline my rig sits on in the heli set up ad a splice of boom about six inches long held in place with shrink tube and a cover of tubing, never heard or seen it done before so any thought would be welcome, i thinking it might improve bite detection time, or it might just fly up the mainline on the cast lol.
  23. My fav hobo would shame us all the guy sleeps out in alaska on the back of a dog sled or in a home built tarp shelter, then when the mood takes he is off doing the same in the south cali deserts sleeps on the floor in desserts with just a backpack for a pillow rattlesnakes are breakfast, well chuffed the guy sent me one of his shark teeth you have to fit in to get one of those shipped, charles manson used to wear one. 😎
  24. depends on what you think you can get away with done a fair few overnighters or until the early hours just sitting on the bank, it was about 10 years back i relised i needed a bivvy and and something off the floor, i have just lightened up my kit a bit still looking for a bivvy hoping to get one of those tempest style brollies or another two rib, i don't think i could do three and four day sessions with just angling gear. Not sure on some of these new bivvys some are a bit much for fair weather angling if i can get either the trakker or nash brolly in the extra hight version i will be well happy with that shows how anyone can be a sucker for trends and must haves, i know the two rib is a much more practical bivvy it only has two points of contact with the floor much better on uneven ground than the brolly design. i really want something with lots of mesh so i can at least try to keep the mozzies out, that and no messing setting up, that's why the tempest or titan with mesh front.
  25. lol nothing to do with me he likes to live at his nans my mum, very conservative obey the rules or hit the road.
