i'm giving a local company a try this week for some hemp mix they do they also do a snail boilie and a few other snail bits. i will just try some of their particle mix for now thinking of giving the fake baits a whirl some big bream in the lake probably rudd and roach too, zigs seem to be working best, i'm never sure how to fish them, baiting up wise been thinking of trying one again though, may as well got the kit in the tackle bag. Also going to try the shelf like ecton berry if they have any at billing tackle shop. it's the fuel costs that hurt me trying to get her to move to the posher parts of northampton but no joy as yet.

Should fishery owners be responsible for checking licences????
Carpbell_ll replied to smufter's topic in UK Carp Fishing
Just as a option for younger proper skint anglers, if they are under 18 you could tell the courts you can't be expected to pay any fee as they have been disenfranchised from what the gov says a person needs to live on each week, better hope the maj is as left wing as me though 😀 -
on the lake in this video, meet this lad the other day nice guy, another one that interested in fred i didn't get to interogate them on their fav spots. 🕵️♀️ i can fish the same spinner rig and pop up, but i'm not happy with the number of fish it catches, the lake seems to be fished similar to pine pool on KWP light bating, in the video and from what i've seen. i want to give something very varied to eat that will keep them comming back for a feed over four days, five kilo of particle bait and some fake bait rigs, hemp and casters that sort of thing, seems silly not to take full advantage of the naturals approach. i'm starting to think boilies are way down on the list of what a carp in a wild or well feed lake would choose to eat? overhead pics of the big lake, kinda see why i want a deeper.

Zircon encrusted tweezers. didn't catch on the bio fish but it is a very good bait plenty of texture to it, it would be a lot more difficult to gun out than the milk and honey mix, it's why JB recommends one of his milk mixes for hand rolling. 1 ml of plum per five eggs was a mellow plum flavour to the finished bait really is strong stuff. i didn't realise the spicy indian base mix was bio shellfish with added indian curry style spices, what i want to do is move away from what is similar to the main baits being used and trying something real nice, i doubt they see much in the way of cheese so JB's taste mix could be a good can't resist bait on just the one rod, a 1 kilo base mix would do two, three day sessions for one rod. trying to fish multiple rods on boilies is getting silly money.

a lot of pro carp anglers go there to test things out, just about every famous angler has fished there at some point, think frank warwick is a regular during winter?

Should fishery owners be responsible for checking licences????
Carpbell_ll replied to smufter's topic in UK Carp Fishing
that's more a judgment call at the moment, if the lake owner had to check by law at least once per angler before selling a ticket the customer couldn't moan about a bad call. surprised more lake aren't doing what bishops bowl do, you need a membership to buy a ticket that way they have all details on record they could also ask for a licence before giving membership. as could all lakes, it's a bit too busy these days to just have a lake anyone can rock up too for a few days and do as they please. for some it is an off putting price, i bet most anglers they catch are the real casual out once a year or so, they do check match style waters regular barston and the surrounding lakes will see them during the summer. it is more of a tradition for anglers to have a licence if it wasn't accepted by most i wouldn't bother, i guarantee i could use the human rights laws to prevent the case being heard in court, not that i would as it's a accepted tradition among anglers. -

if the EA would like lake owners to ask for a licence then the EA need to give them something worthwhile back, free stock fish or payment, otherwise it would have to be a legal requirement to stop anglers getting shirty when turned away. personally i think rod licences are overpriced and outdated, everyone who wishes to use the waters for any reason other than walking should pay something, 10 notes per year per rod would be fair same for canoeists, bike riders, magnet fishing, wild swimming, all sorts. a small EA fee for each would be fair. if fishery owners was getting something back for checking i would mind. wouldn't mind lol -
In total i got 1.4 kilo of rolled bait and 100 grams of paste, from a 1 kilo base mix. plus liquids.
-
runs water real easy for fish up to 20 lb.
-
i just use the netting and nuggets i got a bin liner full of PVA nuggets, the mrs chuckles when she sees them for sale i get them in e liquid packing big fat ones, reminds me better top the tub up for tomorrow.

hmm, the lakes used to have the reputation of not being carp angler friendly, also you would need to relax the no dogs rule and i would fish there tried to join years ago but wouldn't allow me to take my dog, i don't always take him but more often than not he comes. you would be better off running them yourselves or even better using the largest lake as a membership only 24 hour fishing.
-
Well that the full bag rolled nice and easy to be fair didn't take long to knock a kilo of fresh bait up, if i had a gun and better rolling table a kilo would be no problem on a week night. deffo the way forward for peg campers. any base mix rolled at home and fished ASAP has to be a better bait that is retail?

damn they were performing well this morning, left them in the outhouse shed overnight as it's a nice warm shed, fred was baning on the door to get in this morning, popped them in the fridge for tomorrow.

not sure if there is robin red in the mix i don't think there is? but that really is a red fishmeal paste and end bait, They are similar to mainlines link in scent slightly? looking forward to giving them a whirl next week, i got no hardner for hook baits so i will just put a dozen aside and hard boil them for longer, wrap some paste before casting. The GLM is real stand out same for the red krill, washing up the bowl you should of seen how soluble the raw mix was, the pink/red colour was real strong. followed the guides as recommended for the plum and shrimp. serve 'em fresh out the fridge.
-
Just mixed up a kilo of JB's bio shellfish, with plum and shrimp, tell ya johns base mixes really are lively got a malt chocolate note coming off the raw mix that will change after cooked and dry. that shrimp he does is good think that's where the maltiness is coming from.

i swear he is trying to mark me with his balls he seems to think i really want his rugby ball toy he will pick them up and put them down where he wants me to go trying to train me, not a chance he has got away with that for long enough. caught him doing it up the field the other day.
-
got his sulking face on due to the greens winning a local seat, he is worried about meat supplies. that is some bowling ball size head he has, solid.

i find you are better off just being sociable to those you meet when out so long as they haven't got that elite angler vibe about them, there was a bait tester on a other lake that could be a complete annoyance if it didn't go right for him or couldn't get his chosen peg, the remarks would start, very passive aggressive of course, i just get the spom rod out and froth it up some more, with my two kilo of bait for three rods for three days, ain't moving mate., considering i had the two biggest known fish out and others, i'd say my tactics are solid. 😆
-
at least you have angling mates, i offer to get my mates into angling and they take it as come along sit in the peg and land the odd fish, i don't do it anymore get some tackle the tickets pick your own peg and i will help with the set up and tactics all of a sudden they lose interest, one guy i had to stop going out with, i'd pay for ticket and he would sneak a rod out, everyone knew what he was up to, park lake as well.
