  1. Cheers lads I'm going past Sainsbury's on the way home from work so I'll see what they have in there. If they don't have anything I'll order the energized one
  2. I was looking at spending around £10-15 on one mate so thought the esp one might of been a good choice and could earn a few points on angling direct lol. I've just had a quick look at the petzl ones and I think they might be a bit out of my price range, but I'll keep looking I might find a cheaper one. If I remember rightly you said I would want one with a red LED light setting?
  3. What head torch should I get? I've been using a cheap one that's too bright imho. Would one of these do? https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/esp-stash-light Has a red LED and a few settings for the white LED. Any thoughts?
  4. Cheers mate I'll steam the whole rig this time, do you do it on every cast or will just the once be ok? I usually use an inline or heli setup for most of my fishing, I'm too tight to use leadclips because of how many leads I loose lol
  5. I've been steaming the tubing around my hooks for years but never thought about steaming the hooklink while its pulled tight..if its been steamed, will it reduce tangles when casting? I've noticed I've had the odd tangle when giving it a big chuck with a heli setup, another vote for esp tungsten though, been using it in 20lb soft, lovely stuff. But like you say it isn't the cheapest so I don't like wasting much of it lol
  6. I've been using Korda hooks for the last few years but recently I've upped the size to 6s and 4s. They were really sharp when I took them out the pack, but after I caught a fish I noticed the hook point had lost its edge, I wouldn't say it was blunt, but it wasn't as sharp as it first was. I had to make new rigs because I didn't feel confident using the same hook again and it feels like a waste of braid having to make a new rig after each run/take. What file should I get for this? Or should I use different hooks?
  7. Do you cast with the reel seat in your left or right hand? I found when I was using the handles on the left, I would still have to cast with the reel seat in my left hand lol
  8. I don't know mate, I'm left handed but when I was younger I would use the handle on the left but would have fish landed for me, but as I got older and started fishing on my own I found it easier playing and landing with with the handles on the right lol.
  9. Thought I'd update this, I've managed to get the handles on the other side. What I done was popped the plastic washer out, lined the handle up with the hole and wiggled it side to side with a lot of force. This made the opening bigger and it went through, I tightened it up and it all seems sound, nothing is catching or loose, so should be fine. Probably not the best/correct way to do it, but it worked lol
  10. Couldn't do a 48 hour session over the weekend but I managed to get down the river for a few hours with a float rod and a pint of maggots. I didn't catch anything big, but I had dace, roach, gudgeon, chub, minnows and a brown trout..I think it's a brown trout anyway lol.
  11. Sorry mate I read your thread wrong, I thought you was after a bedchair lol.
  12. I've recently upgraded mine to a fox r2 camp bedchair and its lovely. I can't vouch for a decent sleep on it though because I'm usually too excited to sleep when I'm night fishing anyway. But I can doze off for an hour or so pretty easy lol. I'm 6ft 15st and it fits me well with a decent amount of room. There's 3 model, the r1, r2 and r3 which are different sizes, this guy explains it well in this video mate
  13. I'm gonna take them to the tackleshop and see if they can help, I don't really trust myself trying to change things lol
  14. What a result mate, do you have any pics??
  15. I can't edit the post for some reason but I've just read its not possible to swap anything around inside because the handle fits straight into the drive gear? Gutted
  16. Can anyone help me please, I'm trying to change the handle from the left side to the right on my Shimano biomaster xta reels, but I can't get it to work. For some reason the hole on the right side is smaller than the left, I've added some pictures below. Even if you take the plastic washer out that's sitting in the hole, it's still too small. Is it possible to take the reel apart and turn it around? Why can't anything be straight forward lol
  17. I'll go for the vass ones then, cheers
  18. I'm off to a reservoir Saturday and I need a set of waders because of how shallow the margins are and I don't have time to order a set online so I need to pick them up from a shop, I've got two pairs in my price range but was wondering which is best because I've never owned a set before lol. There's either vass-tex 700e studded chest waders or trakker n2 chest waders, which ones should I get? Thanks
  19. Yeah mate lol just a shame I didn't catch any carp, but I really did enjoy it so that's all that matters. Next time I go there I'm going to try a different approach, vitalin and maize is a big no no haha
  20. Just a little update, I've been destroyed by bream, my carp cradle, net, sling and clothes are covered in slime. I've lost count how many of them I've caught but I'd say 4lb was the average and the biggest was 7lb 3oz. Last night was manic, I switched over to a size 6 with an 18mm pop up topped off with a piece of plastic maize and I was still bringing them in, sadly no carp lol! Gonna call it a day soon and go home and get some sleep haha.
  21. 5 bream now, had them all on maize but tempted to switch over to a pop up later because I don't want to be catching them all night lol. No carp yet, I've blasted the rod with a chod rig as far as I could to the other side (fish showing over there) but because I don't have any pellets/boilies to put into a bag or make a stick mix with, it's just on it's own. Should I leave the rod with the zig rig on out over night or should I switch to fishing the bottom when it gets dark? Thanks
  22. I've just set up on a resivour for a 24 hour session. Never fished here before so giving a bit of everything a go lol, 3 rods out, 1 on a chod rig, 1 on a zig rig about 2ft under the surface and 1 on 3 bits of maize fished over a big ball of vitalin 😁 I've also took the float rod with me, there's a good head of bream here that goes to low doubles, so might give it a try!! Update: I've had 2 bream since I posted, one about 3lb and the other at 4lb 10oz

  24. Thanks for the replies, in the end I went for the korda float kit, didn't really want to spend £9.99 on it, but it comes with everything and will make life a lot easier setting it all up lol
