Awesome mate, I will pop in Halfords and have a look 👍 Should get a few charges on my phone with it then 🤔 I'm torn between buying something like you've suggested or just going all out and buying a silent generator 🤣

Yeah it's only open for the month on a trial and you can only fish from one bank that has 10 swims marked out, all catches must be recorded and pictures sent over. I love big waters with my main one being just under 90 acres, but this is a bit of step up. I'm really excited to be part of it 👌 not sure on the future I just think they want to see what stock it holds and make a decision later on 🤔 I'm going to take the dog for a walk around where you can fish from and see what it's like this weekend. Sadly prebaiting and having a cast with the marker is going to be out the question until September. I dont think they will allow me to turn up and prebait etc so will probably have to all be done on the session. Its also quite a drive so there won't be many walks before fishing either 😕 Same as you the swims I fish on my res I'm only fishing in about 10ft of water. At what depth would be too deep for carp feeding on the deck? I think so far my plan will be picking a swim on the day depending what's available, spend some time with the marker, find a spot to fish over and bait up quite heavily, then just top up the spot if it produces fish. There are rumors of big shoals of carp but what the average size is I have no idea lol, I can't find much information online about it so will have to keep digging 🤣 At the moment I've got 10kg of unprepared tigernuts, 25kg sack of maize and 20kg of pigeon conditioner on order, anything else you would recommend? I might try and get some hemp seed as well 🤔 Exciting times 👍

So a trout reservoir near me is allowing carp fishing for one month [September] Its just over 700 acres, I have no idea of depths, bottom etc. There are some gnarly rules as in particles only, no boilies allowed. No boats including bait boats lol I expect I'm gonna have to try and fish at range but with boilies off the cards, do you think tigers as hookbaits would be suitable for fishing at range? I think im going to prep a load of tigernuts, maize, pigeon conditioner. Any suggestions on tackling this beast would be great 😆 I haven't really made a plan other than I'm booking 4 nights on it 🤣🤣🤣

Does the battery do well mate?

I have no idea what I'm buying but I'm after something that I can charge my phone off and hopefully if its possible a laptop by a plug socket. Sadly it doesn't charge through USB c 😕 Does such a thing exist? I don't mind if it's bulky or heavy.

Yeah same as that, when I first started carp fishing some guy took the time and showed me how to set up and fish off the bottom with a method feeder and gave me some vitalin to use and it caught me so many carp on that session, probably what got me hooked to begin with. I use it pretty much everywhere I go unless I'm fishing with just boilie. I will have a look mate, I was doing a bit of research earlier and looks like flaked maize mixed with meat and bone meal is pretty close. If I find anything that works I will keep you updated 👍 I tried adding sugar to the soaking stage and swear it didn't swell up like it normally does lol What does sprouted mean? Is that just leaving it to soak for ages or?
-
I've just used them to bulk the vitalin out a bit, I'm down to about a kilo of dry mix left 🤦♂️ I've never caught on home prepared maize. Not sure if they wasn't having it or if I messed it up somehow lol. Anyway the mix seemed to of worked, bagged a 20lber 👍 I see they've discontinued vitalin, do you have any suggestions for something similar?I've got about a kilo of dry mix left 🫤
-
That's awesome mate I got tins of black beans, butter beans, chick peas and sweetcorn, gonna mix them into vitalin for a mix to send out in the boat 👍👍

Just wondering which ones are safe and if anyone has tried the butter beans, black beans or kidney beans?

Yeah i get you, other side is a cycle path though and it can get quite busy where as the side I took the photo from is harder to get to so not many people except fisherthem walk it. It's annoying, there's some cracking fish in that canal but as soon as someone sees you baiting or clearing a swim they will be in it as soon as your back is turned 😒 gonna rake it and just fish for the day and see how it goes I think lol Mate there's dead rabbits on it I'm sure they run off the bank onto it thinking its still grass 😭 Might be worth a try but I don't think many will listen. I happened to walk a stretch the other day and found someone baiting up and the look on his face said it all, he was gutted and asked me not to fish that spot as he's been baiting it so he could fish it for a few days the following week. As we stood talking we even seen some carp move in. I don't have it in me to do that, each to their own I suppose but the capture wouldn't seem right tbh lol.

Out with my dad for 24 hours 👌 So, we've been coming here for years always having a few. It's our runs water for a bend in the rod, anyway the last few sessions it's been very quiet, it turns out they've removed most of the stock, leaving more room for the bigger ones to get bigger 🤣🤣🤣
-
Gonna try and create a path through this 🤣 Yeah I think I'll clear it, set up and start fishing. As some has mentioned, any time of baiting, raking or even looking at bits of water, you'll come back and see someone fishing it 🙄🤣
-
Wicked, now to make a weed rake 🤣🤣
-
How long should you rest a swim after raking it? My canal is caked in weed and would need to rake a swim out to fish it 🤔

Interesting thread 🤣 I use sticks for most of my range fishing but have noticed they can be a little inaccurate. I was fishing at 120 yards, wrap up 30 times and clip up when the tip is next to the distance stick (might of worded that wrong 🤣) wind the line back onto the reel etc. Anyway I wasn't sure if I actually counted 30 wraps correctly, so I wrapped it back around the sticks again and noticed it was like 2 - 3ft off. I'm sure it was due to how tight/loose the line gets wrapped around the sticks. Has anyone else experienced this?

One of the cogs/wheels/gears or whatever they are called in the middle that makes it spin had shattered, its been put on a shelf for now hopefully fix it in the next few weeks 🤣
-
I'm not happy, I've dropped a reel while cleaning it and it's broke something inside, reel won't even spin now 😭 ffs 🤣🤣 On a good note I just booked me and my dad onto a lake for 24 hours next weekend 😀

Picked up 2 nash BP 6 reels for £40 😀 gonna pair them up with my 9ft dwarf rods 👍 Also bought 5kg of sticky krill 👍

I woke up in Friday morning with a cricked neck, rested in through out Friday and woke up Saturday with a stiff neck but it felt like it was on the mend. Decided to walk the dog. Dog lunged at a cat. Dog brang all that pain back from the cricked neck and it felt twice as bad!!!! I hate to admit it but I feel like my body isn't recovering like it used to 😂😂😂

It would cost a small fortune in my ford focus 😂 All the best though, hopefully you all have some cracking fish 👌 -

Discovery cx landing net mate, the net handle doesn't split 👍 my only gripe with it is the clip that holds the net up, but to be fair I've got this far with out using one so isn't really an issue 😂 I've got ngt 2 piece handle I bought years ago I use it with my 9ft rod set. Even though its done by ngt the quality of it is solid 👍
