  1. Is anyone on the bank this weekend? I'm doing a 24hr session today, 3 rods out with about 50 baits around them. I'm using the Nash instant action pineapple crush boilies in 16mm, can't say too much about them but got 15kg of them so hopefully they work 😂 good luck to anyone who's out this weekend 👍👍
  2. Cheers mate gonna have a look now 👍
  3. Hope so mate, its a lot lighter as well. Any deals on gas anywhere? I've just been to the petrol station to fill my Coleman up for the last time hopefully lol. Estimated delivery is in between April and may so might have abit of a wait lol
  4. Just ordered a bulin t4 off of ebay for £25 thanks
  5. I've been using the petrol Coleman stoves for years, but I'm sure the one I've got is on its way out so I'm looking at getting a gas one but not really sure what to get. I've heard the t4 stoves are good for the money.. Any thoughts on what I should get? I would get another Coleman but I've had enough of getting petrol on stuff lol
  6. They've got 10% off this weekend, code is BANKSIDE10 or just check at the top of their website lol
  7. Well the one I went to this morning has been closed, not sure why but the gates were shut with a sign up saying closed. Just been to another that's open, getting fencing put all around it and its free fishing until it's complete, so came home to get bedchair and bag, gonna do a night I think
  8. Off out in a minute to one of the lakes that's had a problem with them before. Its got a massive head of carp so hopefully there's a few left
  9. Thanks for the replies, very interesting. I'm starting to feel pretty snookered with my carp fishing, like I said most of the lakes around me are unfenced and have had some problems which leaves me with less confidence when fishing them. The river and canal I fish has also took a good hammering so I'm not bothering with them anymore. There's 2 venues that I know of that have fences but one of them the lake was built 5 years ago and it just wouldn't feel the same fishing it because the fish are new if that makes sense lol. The other is a more of a pond about half an acre at most which is syndicate only that costs £500 a year.. Its too small for my liking. If it gets any worse I'm gonna have to travel a lot further which I'm not keen on doing really. It wouldn't be so bad if I'm going for a few nights but shorter sessions like after work or something would hardly seem worth it..
  10. I've seen a lot of people online saying if the lakes you are fishing aren't fenced, there's no point in fishing it cos of otters. If they ain't there now, they soon will be. A lot of lakes around me have had problems with otters, but they haven't emptied the lake and fish still get caught. Do you fish unfenced lakes?
  11. That's what I thought mate, but I've come across this pic here I do like the look of them lol
  12. I use them too, 12ft 3lb. I love using them and the quality seems spot on, the finish on the blank has a bit of funny feel to it, like its ribbed but it doesn't really bother me
  13. Not really sure if I like the metal welded down the hook mate lol. Maybe give them a go? I do like mustad tho, use their hooks all the time for sea fishing

    Dogs and fishing

Cheers for the replies lads. Some lovely dogs you have there!! I've decided I'll leave it for a few more months and then think about getting one. It's mad how big a hole they leave when their gone
  15. What's the quality of it like though mate? I'd be gutted if i put something kind of heavy in it, lifted it up by the handle, breaks and damages my fishing gear lol. Looks ideal for storing fishing stuff in the shed though

    Dogs and fishing

A few months ago I had to get my jack russell put down because she had a tumor and now I'm starting to think about getting another one. She made an amazing friend but was terrible when it came to fishing and would have to be left at home. Not sure if its because it was in her nature, but she wouldn't settle, she would walk around sniffing everything until she got scent/sight of something and just give chase. Also had selective hearing and wouldn't come back when she was focused on something lol. My question is do different breeds of dogs do better than others and is there any I should look at in particular?
  17. 12lb Daiwa sensor in brown for me, I feel confident using it and it hasn't let me down
  18. Cheers lads I'm going past Sainsbury's on the way home from work so I'll see what they have in there. If they don't have anything I'll order the energized one
  19. I was looking at spending around £10-15 on one mate so thought the esp one might of been a good choice and could earn a few points on angling direct lol. I've just had a quick look at the petzl ones and I think they might be a bit out of my price range, but I'll keep looking I might find a cheaper one. If I remember rightly you said I would want one with a red LED light setting?
  20. What head torch should I get? I've been using a cheap one that's too bright imho. Would one of these do? https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/esp-stash-light Has a red LED and a few settings for the white LED. Any thoughts?
  21. Cheers mate I'll steam the whole rig this time, do you do it on every cast or will just the once be ok? I usually use an inline or heli setup for most of my fishing, I'm too tight to use leadclips because of how many leads I loose lol
  22. I've been steaming the tubing around my hooks for years but never thought about steaming the hooklink while its pulled tight..if its been steamed, will it reduce tangles when casting? I've noticed I've had the odd tangle when giving it a big chuck with a heli setup, another vote for esp tungsten though, been using it in 20lb soft, lovely stuff. But like you say it isn't the cheapest so I don't like wasting much of it lol
  23. I've been using Korda hooks for the last few years but recently I've upped the size to 6s and 4s. They were really sharp when I took them out the pack, but after I caught a fish I noticed the hook point had lost its edge, I wouldn't say it was blunt, but it wasn't as sharp as it first was. I had to make new rigs because I didn't feel confident using the same hook again and it feels like a waste of braid having to make a new rig after each run/take. What file should I get for this? Or should I use different hooks?
  24. Do you cast with the reel seat in your left or right hand? I found when I was using the handles on the left, I would still have to cast with the reel seat in my left hand lol
  25. I don't know mate, I'm left handed but when I was younger I would use the handle on the left but would have fish landed for me, but as I got older and started fishing on my own I found it easier playing and landing with with the handles on the right lol.
