  1. Their enthusiasm always puts me in the mood to go fishing πŸ‘πŸ˜‚ the guy jumping up and down when he netted the carp for Ali was spot on πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  2. Its very annoying mate πŸ˜‚ when I had the take I was using the less is more approach, I was fishing the bottom bait with 4 boilies around it. I’m gonna try singles next time πŸ‘
  3. It’s making me question everything mate. Same bait and the day before when I had a take, sticky krill. I know it works. I had the fish in front of me last night I seen several carp, just don’t understand why they didn’t get their heads down. my baits are going on some hard spots, about a foot off the island. I’m wondering if it’s because I’m not getting it close enough.. bait boat would help πŸ‘πŸ˜‚ Then in questioning the rigs I’m using, I’ve recently made a change. I’ve been trying out a slip D rig with a bait screw. It was nailing the bream every time on res. If it’s hooking them well enough, shouldn’t be a problem hooking the carp? Might have to go back to the basic knotless knot rig for bottom baits and try that again lol
  4. Fished until 11 last night...blank 😭 thinking about buying one of them bait boats with sonar on it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ COVID jab has made me feel well rough today, headache, whole body is stiff/aching, feels like a got a bad cold πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚
  5. I was watching the Korda lads the other day and they were crimping the swivel to have a running lead clip setup with the spinner rig, watching your video has now made me wonder if they’ve had any swivels break on them because of crimping πŸ€”πŸ€”
  6. Yeah mate when I had my first jab my arm was pretty soar for a few days. The jab I had this morning I didn’t even feel the needle go in, couple hours later on starting to get a dead arm feeling. πŸ˜‚ fished for 3 hours this morning fish didn’t want to know, all basking on the surface, so came home for a few hours and will go back about 5ish. Yesterday evening seemed like bite time, the lad next swim down from me had 2 while I was fishing so will try the same time again today πŸ‘
  7. Cheers mate I ended up using a back to back grinner knot, it did the job but I’ll check the one you posted πŸ‘πŸ‘
  8. Exactly mate I was gonna go this evening but going in the next hour or so instead. Got my jab at 9.25 then it’s straight to the pond πŸ‘
  9. I’m having some really bad luck with the carp at the moment πŸ˜‚ had one bump off at the res 2 sessions ago. Then went yesterday evening for a few hours to a small fenced lake, had a run and went into a snag on the corner of the islandπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I’m just pleased I managed to get my rig etc back and not snapping off on the fish. Gonna go ago this evening and try again πŸ‘
  10. Start a new job Monday. Do I get a few nights in before I start πŸ€”πŸ˜‚ I want to get back on the res but if I catch another bream I might have to take up golf πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  11. Yeah mate you need to remove the lead, for example say 7 inches, stick needle in where you broke the lead off, go up 3 inches, attach needle to the end of the leader and pull the end back through. So basically there’s no lead in the loop or the few inches where you spliced πŸ‘πŸ‘
  12. I haven’t spliced leadcore for a years now so I’m racking my brains πŸ˜‚ when you pull it back through, once it’s started try pushing the leadcore up the needle with one hand/2 fingers while using the other hand to pull the needle and leadcore through the spliced hole if that makes sense lol. My thinking is pushing it up the needle with bunch the leadcore up instead of straightening it out tight. Not sure if wetting the needle before pulling it through might help? πŸ€”
  13. Hi mate are you closing the gate on the needle before pulling it back through? I take it you are using a splicing needle?

    Dogs and fishing

He looks like he’s going to be trouble mate πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚
  15. Had to wind the rods in at 4 for some kip. Might have to change my name to bream machine πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ done with particles the ducks and swans can eat the rest, gonna use just boilies for the rest of the session lol
  16. Brilliant mate sounds like you and the buzzard has both had a right result πŸ‘πŸ‘
  17. Always the way mate lol. Even if you don’t fish you could pre bait with it all and go back the following day πŸ˜† Done about 50 spombs so far, gonna rebait the rods in a min so will put some more out again πŸ‘ All the carp I can see that are rolling are at the top end of the reservoir in the out of bounds / nature reserve. I’m as close as I can get to them so putting a load of bait out and hopefully they pass down this way come across it πŸ˜‚
  18. Gone to the 91 acre reservoir. Started spombing bait out and along came two swans. They keep trying to attack me when I fill the spomb up they want the particles in my bait bucket πŸ˜‚ splashed water at it to make it go away but it only made it angrier and now every time I go into the water it starts coming at me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ caught 1 bream within 10 minutes of rod being out πŸ‘πŸ˜‚
  19. According to the scales I got 23.5kg of particle and and 7kg in total of boilies for a 3 possibly 4 day session starting tomorrow πŸ‘πŸ˜‚ Still undecided where I’m going to go, got 2 reservoirs in mind. Both decent stocks and lots of 20s and fish close to 40. one is about 80 acres the other is 91. Will have to decide in the morning πŸ˜‚
  20. What is the best knot for a mono mainline to a braided leader when spodding/spombing?
  21. Chest waders, broom handle and a small foldable saw. I had to get through about 30ft of 6ft high stingers to access a stretch of river the other week. I plowed through it whacking the nettles down with the broom handle and used the saw to remove small branches. Chest waders help protect from nettles and bugs πŸ‘πŸ˜‚ just don’t make your entrance too obvious because people will check it out. Same with river swims once they see the opening they want to fish it lol.
  22. My tigers went a bit bad, smelt like alcohol so binned them off. I’ve washed the bucket out with hot water but it still has the alcohol/fermented smell to it. Any idea how to get rid of it or do I not need to worry??
  23. Nice mate, I guess want to be doing 5kg batches at a time and freeze. I’ve been watching a few videos last night, watched some of John bakers stuff, very knowledgeable bloke πŸ‘ Then I watched some other guy who was showing his set ups from doing a small batch to stepping it up to a bigger batch etc. He suggested using something like a paddle mixer that the plasterers use. Here’s the video I found it pretty useful Then the John baker video if you’re interested πŸ‘
  24. That’s a good idea mate πŸ‘πŸ‘ how much base mix could you mix up at a time with that do you reckon?
  25. Might have to mate, they got them pretty cheap in gooutdoors at the moment. It’s just working out how to get it on your area if that makes sense lol. I’ve got the bug bad, I want to get out again, considering either going to a 81 acre reservoir or go back to the one I was at last time. The one I was at last time has a nice bank, lots of trees etc with a load of 20s to 38 just a lovely place to be and the 81 is a massive open reservoir that has such a blow going across it people go wind sailing or whatever it’s called lol but yeah the wind gets that bad you have like little waves crashing on the shore spraying foam stuff at ya brolly πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚ Again very good head of 20s up to 45 I believe. Might have to flip a coin πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
