  1. It's pretty much exactly the same, including the power output.
  2. I use this type which fit perfectly in a lead clip and the use an anti tangle sleeve to go over the swivel. The anti tangle sleeve helps to ensure I have a great presentation every time, ensures that the rig can't come off of the swivel and means that you can use a lead clip and anti tangle sleeve to match the lake without having to worry about swivel colour.
  3. You most definitely WON'T get any scorn from this end mate. But I would consider just tying a loop on the end of your rig with a figure of 8 knot and having a quick link tied to your line. It gives you the required speed of change and is a cheaper (And safer (Less chance of a snap off, in my opinion)) way of doing it. And it will save you a couple of quid (Not a lot, but every little helps ).
  4. I've just noticed (And this has no relevance to the rig and is just me being nosey ) that you have a quick change swivel on the rig. What do you use on your line to connect it to?
  5. First point, in my opinion, is that it's no good tying a rig to check it's underwater properties with a hook link material different to what you intend to fish with. Is the fake corn, corn or maize? And I'd use a small shot on the hair about 5mm from the corn if it were needed. I'd be looking to get the corn to cover the hook as much as possible when looking at it from above.
  6. I line the tackle companies pockets and have a stripping tool. When I'm on the bank in the middle of the winter a little tool which works easily in cold hands is well worth it in my opinion (That and I'm a sucker for a gadget ).
  7. Hello mate and welcome. Sorry, I've not been there either.
  8. I agree mate, there are some ridiculous rules out there. Whenever there is a venue with a ridiculous rule it always makes me think twice about joining / fishing.
  9. I fished viaduct lake a couple if times (But literally only a couple of times, it was a ridiculously long walk for me to get there). It's also worth mentioning that you can't do nights until July of your first year (That's a recent change. It used to be no nights at all in your first year!!!).
  10. Yes mate,as far as I know a DA post code helps. I would still recommend a river ticket straight away as well as I know this jumps you up the queue as well. I'm seriously debating doing both this weekend after this thread.
  11. Sorry for the confusion. It was Presidents and Devon Road that I was talking about (I know neither are called Sutton, but both are in Sutton at Hone). Brooklands remains the only water that I have caught a pike on a maggot (More than once).
  12. I used to fish Broadlands when I was a kid. But that was over 20 years ago. I've been debating joining as well, for a couple of years. Unless things have changed you won't get a ticket straight away, especially as you're outside of Dartford. Best thing to do is join the river membership and put your name down for the lake membership. They've bought old CEMEX waters in Sutton but, unfortunately, there are time limits and you can't do nights. There are / were rumours of trouble aat Broadlands but I've never seen or been exposed to any (I live about 5 minutes away). It's a good ticket and well worth the money. If you could fish the Sutton waters of a night I would have joined years ago.
  13. Which lake were you fishing? What tactics were you using?
  14. Yes it is; although a lot of people no longer tuck it through the second loop. You can also get a crimper. Much easier than tying a knot with stiff material (Especially with cold hands ) and much easier to get the rigs exactly the right length.
  15. Small section of 1" overflow pipe with the silicon tubing wrapped around it?
  16. That's silicone tube, not heat shrink. Unfortunately, the seller isn't an angler, or very intelligent
  17. I use 0.5mm as hook silicone. I don't use it to cover the knot on the hook. If I want to cover the hook knot I use heat shrink.
  18. Easy strong knot that's perfect for the job.
  19. If you read the link in my post for the naked choc you will see that Korda claim Ben Freeman (Who incidentally is not a Korda consultant ) invented the rig. If you read the link on the KD rig, Korda claim that Steve Eves (Who is also not a Korda consultant ). I have no idea whether either of these anglers actually invented the rigs in question, I'm merely pointing out that Korda clearly do not claim to have invented either on their website
  20. Warmth is definitely the key for me as well (Thankfully, the rigours of life have not yet afforded me with arthritis ). Base layers, winter lined trousers, socks with tog ratings, Skee-Tex boots, thermal jumper, fleece jacket, body warmer, neck buff, thermal hat, thermal gloves, zippo hand warmers and, if that fails, a Trakker tundra suit!
  21. Just for clarity; Korda have never claimed to have invented the naked chod or the KD rig
  22. I'm hopefully going for 5 days in the first week of November. I always plan a trip for the New Year. And hopefully there will be a few more winter trips. I enjoy winter sessions. Being warm is key for me. Cold weather makes the air clean and fresh. It's nice being out in it
