  1. the cog is definitely and old idea
  2. Interesting beanz, the lead would dump just after the take with the components used in this pic. So not sure how much battering would be involved.
  3. Yonny , do you think that lead would land the right way up every time just because of the buoyant pop up ? I'm not so sure .
  4. I thought the same yonny. ... could use a shorter choddy though. I suppose can't really make a definitive comment on it unless I try it ...may do one day just out of interest, who knows
  5. Don't give em an inch ! What do you make of this setup then guys ? Not used it myself, but I have used the avid leads & drop off stems which are utilised in this setup & the lead dumps everytime so bare that in mind when you make your comments.
  6. Have you phoned them ? I think I'm right in saying you might have to book on these days . I've only ever fished there on complete lake bookings on socials. Best phone them to avoid a wasted journey.
  7. You know yourself stevo as you have fished with them too, a lot of the guys I know who do commit to Zigs expect action early morning if they've been out all night
  8. I still have never fully committed to Zigs when fishing ie all three rods at different depths changing depth until you find the column there in . Obviously with such a shallow lake you can do this pretty quickly. Also changes in colour can make the difference. But to me committing to the tactic is key . And something I have to try myself at some point. Best of luck & look forward to your report back .
  9. I'm not saying the bailiff wasn't trying to be helpful but it can cloud your judgement on the day .Just out of interest I took a look at big Jims catches on there . It would appear that the only reason he didn't cast into the area for 9 hours was because he was tutoring in another swim ! Some of the reports make it sound like he was just sat on his hands feeding & not fishing couldn't be further from the truth Be lucky gents
  10. Mate anyone will tell you that fishes with me .... It's one of my pet hates, bailiffs telling you this that & the other & I stop them in there tracks ,all it ever does is cloud your own personal judgement & makes you second guess . Only ever had it on socials but it does my head in lol
  11. Best of luck mate & to Neal I'm sure your have a few out soon
  12. Pete if you do look back in on the forum. Have you had a look at cromwell lake does get busy as it's a popular venue for anglers up that way & further a field. But it does hold fish well over 40 lb & has a good head of 30's . Probably with in 30 / 40 minutes from Nottingham. Facilities are second to none crystal clear lake can get weedy & is by no means an easy lake, everyone who has attended socials there over the years will testify to that It's gets mentioned on the carp cast a fair bit as Jamie clossick fishes it a fair bit . Might be worth a look for you .
  13. No mate not anglers anyone would know & I certainly don't have him in my news feed . Interesting it's the same parameters though.
  14. the angler on my news feed was only there a few hours & fished over 5k of boilie & had 4 fish to over 30lb . Maybe up the bait going in ?
  15. How much bait are you guys using ? It's funny a couple of anglers popped up in my fb news feed & have had good results in short day sessions.
  16. Best of luck mate ..... wish I could get up Horseshoe they've really switched on the past couple of weeks & not been able to get up there seriously missing the boat at the moment!
  17. If your dog does as it's told then it shouldn't be a problem or hamper your fishing. It really does depend on each individual dog & owner never had a problem with my dog, wish there were more venues that allowed dogs tbh , but I can see why there isn't. It only takes an idiot with no control of there dog to cause problems for other anglers. My Girl just chills out .
  18. If your not looking to cast over 120/ 130 yards ( no leader ) pro gold in 15lb is definitely worth a look . been trying it on one rod & have now stuck it on all three . The abrasion resistance is fantastic no stripping off line after repeatedly pulling through weed, Listening to you talking about your new lake I reckon it's about the perfect diameter too .
  19. Had one for a while but not used it yet, as the large spomb is doing the job perfectly well . Heard you need to check the pin has its ends rounded off as there was a problem with them moving & bending under the forces. The only person I have seen using one was filling a spomb with it
  20. Because that's what Adam asked about & fancies trying , I just pointed out how it could be done. Perhaps the lake Adam fishes you suffer a lot of cut offs this would certainly help with that, without the need for a leader which is what he is trying to achieve.
  21. These are what you need if your looking at bead on tubing, just as a top bead , as the lead will of already gone in a break this will leave one end of the tubing completely bead free for the rig to pass over . The other bead will also slide with little pressure.
  22. It's just a matter of finding the right size beads for the tubing so it can slide off .
  23. Completely agree fella , I've said before you need the lead on these set ups to make sure the fish is only left with a short rig to deal with.
  24. Yes mate , quality stainless one that . Also saved a blank
