  1. This question is definitely taboo in my house !!!
  2. Do you honestly think there is a difference between the two ? Can you not just let a front spool run & run ? Really don't get the logic behind your thinking on this one Phil .
  3. Carp craze mesh is spot on ... £ 19.99 for 40 metres.
  4. I do like my turned wooden handles on mine
  5. the reason I chose my current reels is I've always had bait runners/ free spool systems. Having a rear bait runner but the advantage of the smoother front drag compared to rear drag systems which are by design a bit clunky suits me perfect. Like you say it's just what you prefer .
  6. My reels are bait runners .... but front drag I use the back wind to play my fish with the front drag permanently set for the really big lunges. Using your drag a lot imparts twist on your line .
  7. The systems have the same point they do the same job . My local water got really weedy last year , I was fishing over the back of it . I found on takes going away from me picking up the rod & letting the fish run just far enough away from the bank of weed ,then lifting into it far better than pulling them straight into the thick weed while there still low in the water . If they decided not to head for the weed didn't see the point in pulling them straight back towards it an encourage them to do so . Seemed to work for me Phil .
  8. Personally don't see any difference between the two systems, both are adjustable. There are some fishing situations where I would let the fish run away from me a bit longer. But thats more about knowing your lake subsurface.
  9. rods make a huge difference. I can hit 40 wraps with my free spirit 13fters can't get anywhere near that with my torrix .
  10. Cross winds make a huge difference mate . I'm positive that so many people including some on here who say they can cast a baited rig 100 yards plus just arn't doing so . I would love to get some of them on a social & clip them up at over 25 wraps & see if they can really hit the clip . I personally think a huge percentage wouldn't be able to even though they say they can .
  11. I had to get Nige to get some for me from his local mate. Couldn't find it anywhere else. Used it at churn, what I will say it's not the best for abrasion resistance but you can't have it all from a line. Cast brilliantly though that's for sure .
  12. No such thing as a hard lake these days Gary..apparently. Just another false pb mob
  13. Not far from you Gary & it is blowing a bit .... nothing better to get them moving about though . Be lucky
  14. The best chance on this lake is your first one , which nearly paid off with just missing out on that biggie couldn't believe it when I didn't see the line tighten. Once you have caught one the next one is very tricky I find.
  15. Managed a couple off the top though .... just missed out on one of the biggies , came up went for it but didn't take it. The owner had one on the fly rod too which was a nice fish . Rubbish photo God knows what happened there lol
  16. Had a short after work session yesterday floater fishing . Managed to cop a dog biscuit right in the forehead somehow from the catapult , proper stung for a second or two
  17. I know for some it's the first thing they do when arriving in a peg , sometimes it's because they like to use throwing sticks so drying them slightly is the best option. My bait doesn't like sticks far to soft .... just end up baiting the margin with half boilies
  18. Hutch I never air dry my baits, fresh bait kept in a cool style bag will easily last out long sessions 4-5 days . I have a preference for softer bait anyway .
  19. Probably around 50lbs of honey there Bob so 50 lb jars . Took a few more from another hive yesterday so it's been a better year than last year .
  20. Good bit of honey from my bees
  21. If your looking for a proper water tight alarm then the ATTS are as good as it gets . Had waves crashing over mine on more than one occasion.
  22. Heard of these Gary? Was on the same line up as them the last time I was out gigging. They were good live .
  23. I'm more than happy it's very strong mate & considering I'm always the one on here that picks up new products for a look at , after people recommended them on here & snap them between rig pullers & report back there pants , I can honestly say it's a very strong join
  24. There not something I would normally use myself, But after getting seriously nailed by crey fish last summer on the lake I'm fishing this coming week, just thought it would be one less knot they can damage & might just make the rig last longer.
