  1. Completely agree big common I couldn't care what people fish with & have said Exactly what you have many a time .... just pointed out that the rrp's were ridiculous. Someone else tried to make it about what I might earn & that noses would be turned up if you were seen in some boots where I live . Both false assumptions. I'm always the scruffy git at the socials & in the oldest nail
  2. your right far to much hard work involved. People earn more than me in benefits a year just by having kids for a living & expect the rest of us to pay ! So haven't a clue where I live & what my job has anything to do with it.... but you do seem to bring it up at every opportunity! Nuf said
  3. looking at this link .... would any of you pay the full rrp for the goods they sell & list in this sale ? Me, no chance & looking at some of it I wouldn't pay the discounted price either. There's a lot of slating of the more popular brands on here for being a rip off but looking at the rrp's of some of these items you would be paying a lot of money for carboot tat .
  4. A Van with crew cab would fit the bill mate .
  5. I use vass chesties.... brilliant very hard waring material. I'm often in my river with them clearing trees & they cope with wading through sags & branches .
  6. As it's going to take 2nd seat to your carp rods it's just about picking a spot out the way really & maybe not the pikey bit of the swim . Don't treat it any different to your river set up mate apart from lead size maybe . personally I always prefer popped up dead baits deadly especially if there not fished for
  7. Definitely caught on baits that have been whittled down by the creys , the last capture on the recent churn visit did me a bream at 3am ... the bait had been creyed but was happy & stuck another Stick on & out it went, back on the spot .... did me a nice carp come morning. Nige has witnessed big carp spooking off creys so I'm sure it happens obviously this could be lake dependent, They were rearing up at the carp on churn & spooking the carp .... they are like lobsters in there though!
  8. I'm starting to think that using mesh on your baits ,might hinder your chances of catching on crey infested lakes . To me it just gives them something to do & basically means there be on your rig the entire time until you bring it in & spooking fish off your bait . I came up with something last time out & I still had rigs fishing in the morning ( which can be rare on churn ) looking forward to trying it out again next year & see if it was just a one off .
  9. I stuck my old wheels back on especially stevo Doesn't sound like a drive & survive with shower blocks & food package available.
  10. not that I've ever fished there . Although had plenty of fish from the Severn near by .From your description actually sounds better now
  11. This question is definitely taboo in my house !!!
  12. not a clue mate first I heard of it was snoozer saying on another thread . Did notice he had a spat with yet more members so could be that & had post deleted.
  13. Do you honestly think there is a difference between the two ? Can you not just let a front spool run & run ? Really don't get the logic behind your thinking on this one Phil .
  14. Carp craze mesh is spot on ... £ 19.99 for 40 metres.
  15. the reason I chose my current reels is I've always had bait runners/ free spool systems. Having a rear bait runner but the advantage of the smoother front drag compared to rear drag systems which are by design a bit clunky suits me perfect. Like you say it's just what you prefer .
  16. My reels are bait runners .... but front drag I use the back wind to play my fish with the front drag permanently set for the really big lunges. Using your drag a lot imparts twist on your line .
  17. The systems have the same point they do the same job . My local water got really weedy last year , I was fishing over the back of it . I found on takes going away from me picking up the rod & letting the fish run just far enough away from the bank of weed ,then lifting into it far better than pulling them straight into the thick weed while there still low in the water . If they decided not to head for the weed didn't see the point in pulling them straight back towards it an encourage them to do so . Seemed to work for me Phil .
  18. Personally don't see any difference between the two systems, both are adjustable. There are some fishing situations where I would let the fish run away from me a bit longer. But thats more about knowing your lake subsurface.
  19. rods make a huge difference. I can hit 40 wraps with my free spirit 13fters can't get anywhere near that with my torrix .
  20. Cross winds make a huge difference mate . I'm positive that so many people including some on here who say they can cast a baited rig 100 yards plus just arn't doing so . I would love to get some of them on a social & clip them up at over 25 wraps & see if they can really hit the clip . I personally think a huge percentage wouldn't be able to even though they say they can .
