  1. , Mahn knot, back to back grinner Some do an albrite knot about 1.5 x rod length plus 4 or 5 turns on the reel
  2. Fast, compound, semi stiff, parabolic, Through. To many variations so I use that terminology as most can understand them even the wife lol
  3. It’s not the test curve of the rod it’s the action you need to consider you can get a baggy 3.5lb test curve and a tighter 2.75lb test curve and the 3.5 will be better to play on than the 2.75 but the 2.75 will cast further than the 3.5.
  4. There are all one and the same apart from the material used. you can make a longer D by just whipping down towards the bend with more turns
  5. How long is your leader?
  6. I know you are supposed to need a license to fish in the sea in Spain and the Spanish islands. most get away with it but my luck I wouldn’t lol the license place is in Tenerife (from memory) but there is a guy who lives there that Will sort the license out for you that seems to come highly recommended. will try and find his details as I was going to do it for the next time I go to Gran Canaria
  7. I used to use 8lb nylon with a leader of 50lb years ago and ever had a problem as the leader takes the shock of the cast not the mainline With 25lb braid as there is no stretch in it I would add a leader minimum 40lb preferably 50lb as a spod could weigh somewhere between 5 or 7 oz. giving it the buggun will cause issues. Make sure your cast is smooth and not snatchy
  8. That is all you need or you could buy a tapered leader
  9. Actually got round to doing mine today and managed to eek a few more bits out of the bag and into the save in van box lol
  10. The blue lens are great for sea fishing abroad where they have clear water i still have a pair of optic somewhere might have to find them out for the rivers
  11. Good find never seen those and if it’s good enough for laney...
  12. I think you may struggle to get anything any good for that value especially 3 of them the jrc radar get good reviews as do some of the sonics you could also look at the Nash s5r
  13. How many do you need? and is that each alarm or the set ?
  14. Do you need a receiver?
  15. Such a shame these can’t be made again with today’s technology in cameras
  16. I learnt to tie flies years ago I can tie them to the shank lol like the old fox hooks
  17. Can do a sample of night walk in the kindle app but not winterwalk
  18. No reason why you shouldn’t try to tie it at least, it might suit your fishing. don’t go and buy anything you haven’t got as it will be a waste of money for 1 rig lol
  19. This is all opinion though
  20. To be fair all these people are anglers who have written a book not writers who fish. i think maybe the publishers are to blame in not getting them proof read before release. but in all these cases it all boils down to money as with most things in the tackle trade “just get it out attitude”
  21. They do say everyone has one good book in them I disagree, I know I haven’t
  22. It’s just another variation of a 90s rig I would need to find the book out to check it again though
  23. Agree with Keith Jenkins books Also the syndicate series. illusions of maya is another carp related read, mixed in with past present and future stuff strange layout but it’s great imo. Probably better than the syndicate series if you have read those and then the Martin Lawrence books I don’t like the “I caught this and moved onto this water and had this one out” kind of books.they mainly bore me to tears and all same just a different person telling the same old story. most can be bought via kindle and they are cheap well worth it.
  24. Usually synchro or Xt in 12lb generally 15 lb if weedy X line in 19lb and I have just spooled up a spare set of spools with the Korda tapered line in 12lb I used to use big game or pro gold(harder and harder to get hold off) dabbled with the pro blend from. Gardner along with loads of different ones over the years like maxima sylcast gr60 etc
  25. Google a bait makers diary on YouTube this month mark Bryant from baitworks says how to make cork ball pop ups albeit using a kit from them.terry Hearn also has a you tube video from a few years ago saying how to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYNK2HAmjoI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjyCtXRTK7I
