if you shorten the hair, then change your bait later you may find your kicking yourself. i tie 3 or 4 rigs with hairs of different lengths, one to accommodate corn or a single boilie up to a long hair that will take a double 20mm boilie. then all you have to do is snap on a different hook link. any how it only takes half a shake to make one up on the bank to exactly suit what you are doing at that particular time, and if your a tightwad like me you can break it down again and save the hook (after sharpening) and any rings, swivels or putty for another day oh BTW ad of the day is for Barbie Mega Blocks????? go figure

just one, swap the split shot for tungsten putty. split shots have a habit of pinging off, leaving your pop up popped right up

whelford can be really good on the day, but i guess that goes for most pools i have fished all pegs on both pools but i find that the peg before and after the little bridge on the right hand bank (going up from the car park) and the peg just after the bit that cuts the pool in half can be the most prolific. shop opens at about 9:00 and the chap who runs it is full of info. just my 2 cents worth

yeh but it do generate some revenue, if 500 anglers around the country use those rigs on any one particular day, they catch an average of 3 fish each and they drop the lead on each one. at around £2.00 per lead and taken over say a six month period that only equates to £18000 so even if the lead isnt dropped on every one. still a lot of wonga init

don't know about now but it was always a nice day out. i didn't actually catch that fish in the first pic, i had left my boilie on a slab by the waters edge and the carp wriggled onto the slab and slurped it up. i wish i had had a camcorder there cos it was hilarious, three of us were laughing so hard that he almost got the rod as well

talking about holt pool, just found these in an old album folder on me pc, and a couple of the local residents nostalgic look back to warmer days

that just looks like a critically balanced pop up to me i may be wrong tho
