  1. If his misses finds all the bits he wants to buy, it may be useful for the slippery slope he could find himself on 😁
  2. I think it is probably better to use himalayan rock salt, mainly because of the extra minerals it contains over normal salt, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himalayan_salt
  3. It says it has this in on the bag so I had a look, probably fine it's meant to be safe to use https://foodadditives.net/anticaking-agent/sodium-ferrocyanide/
  4. Well that couldn't have worked out much better, problem solved and a free cuppa well done welder πŸ‘
  5. If you can't catch em in your head then it is time to hang up the rods I think πŸ˜‚
  6. Not been fishing this weekend but what did I learn? I wanted to go fishing, I thought about fishing, I watched fishing videos and I got bored and bought some bits of tackle for fishing πŸ˜‚
  7. 210d polyester I think? Sonik axs also HD Polyester
  8. What about making one or bodging one up with yours 😁 Could you not get a heavy duty tarp cut it to size and stick it to your one with spray glue or something
  9. Hi guys just thought you may have some items you can't live without now, and want to share your favourite items of tackle or whatever I've used ESP butt grips now for a few years had a large set for Cork rods and now just got some medium for my shrink handled rods and they fit nice and snug,I know they will stop my rods getting pulled in as they will grip them firmly, they have a metal screw which to me is vital as the plastic threads just get ruined after a while, and they are simple, look nice and, do what they are meant too, the best bit is the price Β£11.99 for 3 on ebay, and they last a long time, simple, no frills and reliable and at a decent price
  10. I had an otter give me a savage liner on St Ives, swam through with no fear then just went underwater never to be seen again once it clocked me, I found lots of evidence on there though a dead pike, loads of zebra mussels all over the bank, I seemed to think there didn't seem as many birds on the lake I am fishing now earlier this year, but last time I thought there were more so I will keep an eye on them this winter see if they dwindle again, that could be the duck eating catfish I've heard about though 😬
  11. I think I have most of that already apart from a big stock pot cheers πŸ‘
  12. The pike on Earith are idiots these days, seems like there is loads of them but yet still loads of rudd so they aren't even good pike 😁 Maybe try using crushed pellet and boilies and lots of liquid and maybe some salt, things that will sink into the silt and make them want to dig it out πŸ‘
  13. What other species are in there? I've turned some rancid old smelly silt spots Into spots I can get a bite from this year, maybe now you can bait regularly it will help, What are you putting on the spot?
  14. Nope same now, i tried one of the manky monster particles ones disgusting but the ones I make myself are quite moreish 😁
  15. Molasses is a blooming horrible though makes everything stink and go sticky, but it does seem to work, I use it with pigeon conditioner mainly
  16. I love a freshly cooked tiger other than the dryness of mouth you get after a couple 😁
  17. Don't like monster particles myself had a bad batch of tigers and they wouldn't refund them, as yonny said get yourself a burco boiler, now I just do mine as and when I need them, fresh is best, and it just adds to the excitement of going fishing, Tigers soak for 24 hours and then in a burco I tend to boil them for an hour or so as it heats and cools more, Otherwise if using pigeon conditioner soak for 24hrs and Boil for 30 I think I need a more industrial sized burco though as mine isn't big enough for a massive hit of particles, it's good for tigers and odd bits but needs more girth for a big job of hemp and that
  18. I think pre baiting is always a good thing to do when you can, whenever I've done well its usually due to that, it certainly helps tips things in your favour so it's a good thing you can now do it again πŸ‘, have you thought about raking your own spots, it's something I've done a few times now and caught from rake, pre bait, feel great that's the mantra to live by 😁
  19. They were showing about 20-30yds away over the other side of the pads, saw some right old dolphin leaps, normally that is all you need to see and on a good day they come to visit but I guess they were happy out of range in the safe zone today, not sure about maggots there are so many rudd in there I think it may prove tricky, although I think zigs are a good idea and something I need t on work on a bit
  20. Hi guys I thought I might start a thread for the blankers, I always think it's important to learn from your failures so here goes, Fish were still active so I assumed they might still like some bait 😁I didn't give them loads but in hindsight too much 😱either that or they weren't visiting my spots on the other side of the pads (should've continued pre baiting but life got in the way) Chicken Pad Thai is a nice easy meal to cook Should've prepared better no cutlery, Casting the new rods at the end I whipped the rig off and learnt about fast hands when casting, I tried chucking some around 90 odd yards to see how it went and thinking fast hands and focusing on that seemed to help, it got me hitting the clip consistently anyway, Was it a waste of time nah I flipping loved it being out again 😁
  21. One thing I've noticed with otters is that whenever they are around there are usually zebra mussel shells lying about all over thr place, as like most people they want an easy meal so they usually go for these when they are available
  22. Can't hurt I might start adding some corn too, just for a bit of colour and that Do you guys use tinned or frozen? I heard that if you use frozen it isn't fully cooked so you need to cook a it a bit? You may all know that but I hadn't paid it any attention before 😁😳
  23. Thanks, I just want to have a pellet clear out lol ,I'm down to the last bucket now, I'm hoping the water isn't too cold yet,but then I can start fresh next year, will probably mainly just try and apres bait with them anyway won't hurt to leave something out there for them
  24. Thanks Ian I think they have just become part of my mix really, originally it was designed to all be catapultable, 17mm pellets, tigers and boilies just for ease of prebaiting, then with the ridgemonkey crusher I just crush some up and mix it add some liquids to make it go even further (but I did find the rudd would destroy that in minutes that's why I added the tigers because I thought they might leave those πŸ€”)
  25. Great thanks I've been adding them to my mix for a little while and it just seemed a little bare without them, I haven't even seen the lake since September, so no prebaiting done or no plans made just going to have to try and find them and hope for the best
