I've been thinking about this, while I don't disagree that doing something different is good and I have used alternative baits, I've got to play devil's advocate on some points. How can you say a hair rigged prawn wouldn't have caught in the same situation? Also people still catch a lot of fish using frippery I don't think you can say that the hair rig has blown, and there are many other rigs people use in certain situations, might be a variation on a theme but people use what they have confidence in.it might not be your thought process but it is still valid, and not everybody does exactly the same thing. And this isnt a dig as i can see that there is some merit in freelining, it's something I used to use many years ago and quite successfully, but it isn't a solution that covers the whole of carp fishing,it is limited mainly to a close in stalking scenario. Stalking 101 regardless of set up = finding the fish, set a trap, keep quiet and hopefully catch them.

What would you put in your korda kontainer?

Would be quite easy to do really just base it on a cardboard box divider, -

Each section is 3ltr or bigger than a trade can of WD40 in real world terms, I estimate there is over 2kg of 12mm boilies in that one. -
I've read the odd book and stuff 😂

I wouldn't mind catching nuggies 😂 Better than the big common or something.

Snowball was a revolutionary. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowball_(Animal_Farm)

They name new fish over 30lb on my syndicate. I actually named one last year. Meet Snowball. Bonus points if you can tell where the name is from?

That sounds like a wheely good idea.

Exactly why a vintage section would be a good addition to the forum, it would be a good way of documenting some of the history. It seems a shame for all the vintage stuff to get lost amongst the other posts.

If you have no issue with hydrotuff, I would stick with it. -

Thanks guys. nick, I'm not trying to make you buy one don't worry 😉 this is a hypothetical question,I'm just interested in what people would take if they had 4 kontainer sections, so which four bait options would you take to make the best spod mix you would take anywhere? You can also carry hookbaits, bag mixes, liquids etc so you don't need to worry about those Eg Boilies Chops Pellets Garlic Maize Would be something I could take anywhere confidently. -

Yeah I've wanted one for ages, it's going to be good to have options whilst lightening the load. Guys thanks for replying, I think you are kind of missing the point of this question a little bit, I don't want to know what you actually do. But what you would do with the 4 sections of the kontainer. What would you take in those 4 sections to make essentially your chosen bait mix. -

Yeah it's a good idea, I still think there will be the odd occasion for a big bucket of particles. But for a quick session you can still make a decent fresh mix and not need loads of buckets. -
Right 4 sections 1 bucket for a session, what goes in your bucket? Mine Boilies Matching pellets or pellet mix Chops and crumb (cold) or more boilies Sweetcorn/maize/tigers

Ridgemonkey crushas are now so last season, you will be spending £70 on essentially what looks like a coffee grinder soon. Omc B8M8

Ridgemonkey choppas are also the best way to make lots of chops with minimal effort.

Questions from a new angler
elmoputney replied to Tubbytom's topic in New to Carp.com, New to Carp Fishing
If I didn't need too I wouldn't spomb, catapult wins everytime. My rule of thumb for should I recast or not is just trust my gut, if I feel I should have had a bite or have doubts I rechuck it, I've had many quick bites from a recast to the same spot for it to worry me these days. You need to feel confident and if you think your rig isn't working for whatever reason best to check. I don't have confidence in plastic baits, which goes back to confidence. I would go where I think they were and fish for liners. Also somewhere I could see a lot of water so I can look for signs. Just enjoy it and don't worry if you don't catch, it's the blanks that make the captures more worthwhile. -
Put it in your sleeping bag, just the gas not the stove it will warm it up a bit.
