  1. What are your thoughts on summer baiting btw ?
  2. Well I guess it depends on where you are fishing, stock levels, the result you want to achieve , what bait you are using and what methods and tactics you and others using round the lake , you just have to try and do your own thing and learn as you go,
  3. Gardner spin doctor is what those leads are called, I would strip some off first then and see if it improves the situation, you might not like the colour as much because the line is annoying you due to the issues it may get better once it settles down I haven't used it myself so can't comment on that though , I think the korda carp line colour seems to blend with the water nicely though, infact it seems less visible than the old clear was
  4. can you still get those twistbuster leads ? Might be worth taking a bit off and using one of those first it may help it settle better or maybe just whacking out some leads into the lake I usually find this helps them settle down , I got some Korda carpline in 12lb that needed a couple of longish casts to settle down on my reels but now I am starting to quite like it, it was recommended as the best of the cheaper lines in the shop, I need some heavier line and I am thinking of trying Korda subline for that, as much as I want to not like Korda they do some good bits in my opinion, I also liked the Terry Eustace pro clear line though that was my go to line in the olden days,
  5. I used some fox illusion that I have had for an age seemed to work quite well still this was in 15lb, not sure if its even available still but It did seem user friendly
  6. Thanks yonny I will have a look at those I think, I quite liked the look of the tactical as you can get in big boy version as well and it's still fairly light
  7. Hi bluelabel My chair is fine and can be carried, it's my bedchair that needs some work/replacing tbh it's an old slightly knackered jrc cocoon and 4 season sleeping bag (heavy) a rucksack may be a good idea for carrying this or another bedchair when I get some spare funds Dannygooner The pop up cradle weighs 1.65kg and tbh I would rather have it for the safety of the fish, I agree the retainer may be a luxury item that's only needed occasionally but if I can would rather have it with me just incase I need it I was using an extra rod as a marker rod but felt it wasn't needed most of the time I can use a catapult or throw bait out and if I can't I can clip up and tie a spod on fairly quickly, it's not a big lake I will be fishing, but low stock so being able to move easily will help, and I guess over time i can leave the unnecessary items at home But thanks for the input
  8. Anyone tried the cyprinus bedchairs there is a lightweight one for brolleys and shelters that looks pretty useful only weighs 7.3kg and only £70
  9. I think I may have arrived at an ok level of lightness for now My carp catching kit required for short sessions and overnighters Ngt Rod quiver holding 3 rods 2 for fishing one spod/ marker rod, landing net , banksticks, brolley and safety retainer Bag for tackle bits ,food and refreshment bite alarms , scales etc selfie stick /tripod Lightweight chair with bag or bedchair (this needs work ) Bait bucket or two Pop up cradle Job done boom
  10. I might pop to the post office and enquire but thanks for the heads-up The UK gov site always makes things a million times harder and more confusing than it needs to I always end up like Daniel Blake if I need to find something out on there does my head in if you haven't seen I Daniel Blake it is an excellent film btw,
  11. I may be planning to drive next year do these last that long ?
  12. Just thought I would update this one I've bought 3 types of bait screws off Amazon today,I thought about the weight thing and also bought some plastic ones and some new fangled hook rubber bits will try them and see what I think
  13. I may as well use none mine don't ever seem to go off I'd be interested in people's thoughts on ngt alarms and also TFG mag runners ? sonik and ngt do one with a bivvy light btw sorry I can't be more help ginger hope you don't mind me adding to your thread btw
  14. If you need a duel purpose bedchair bag apparently this one also doubles up as a body bag 😬
  15. Depends really might be a bit overgunned but if they go bigger in the lake you will start to catch them at some point,
  16. I think maybe some between 9-12ft with a 2.5 - 2 3/4 lb tc would be best for all round use really, I think the best thing to do is go and try some for feel in a shop, I always thought most rods would be suitable but having tried a few now some just feel right
  17. What type of fishing are you mainly doing at present ? And what are you hoping to do ? Float fishing, hair rigged Boilies and a lead , pva bags that type of thing How big is the lake etc ? How far do you need to cast ?
  18. I think that might be a bit broomsticky 6ft and a 3lb tc, I have a 7ft Grey's stalker rod at 2 3/4 that's lovely with a decent sized carp on, but maybe even a bit stiff for smaller carp, I use 12ft 2 3/4lb rods for most of my carp angling and these tend to be fine, I have also got a John Wilson travel barbel rod I think that's 2 1/4lb TC that might be great for smaller carp and I daresay would be fine with slightly larger ones too, having seen what Wilson used to catch on his old Avon rod this beefed up one should be fine If you are planning on carp only I would try and find some thing 9-10ft with a 21/2lb -2 3/4lb TC that should give you enough scope to be able to cast a bit and still enjoy it

  20. Might just be fox after Brexit
  21. Yeah should be fairly easy for a social with a few swims Not sure about the cafe he is rebuilding the shop at the moment doesn't look very open at the moment though and still in need of a refurb, there are takeaways that deliver though,
  22. I've been fishing on vermuyden at fenland fisheries recently I should think by April the fish will be properly mobile again a guy had a 31lb er out last thursday , never fished willow but apparently you need to book early
  23. I ordered 20kg of monster mix from monster particles last night thanks to your post about them tree123, the half price sale is still on, I think chods may be a good thing for me to try tbh and actually a hinged stiff rig would probably be my other choice for a pop up ? Are bait screws as good as they seem ? I quite fancy using those for ease
  24. I did have a look at some rig vids on the tube last week, I found a Terry hearn bottom bait rig, that I think I will adopt seems to turn nicely and is fairly simple to tie, just need to settle on an effective wafter and pop up rig now, the lakes I am joining are all quite low stock so I need my rigs to be working when the chance arrives,
  25. I've decided to use the same rod for spodding and marker float to save on load when fishing as long as you clip the line on the same spot you are happy with then it should be fine This video was quite interesting https://youtu.be/eWAmnLeE0Fo
