I usually sit and tie rigs when watching you tube on the telly, it's probably not as proactive and probably a lot slower but it's an enjoyable way to make them in advance of my sessions

I recently found out about a venue fairly close to me that I didn't even know existed since then I've been for a walk round a couple of times , and naturally I now want to enquire about a ticket, now I've spoken to 4 anglers on my travels and none of them will give me any contact details, it's sort of run as a closed shop syndicate ,and I believe the owner tells them not to pass on any details on, Any ideas on getting past the wall of silence ? That's a lot easier to understand, basically don't attach a leader with a swivel

That's not a very clear rule because I would assume that a naked chod with tied on leader to be ok and then as the swivel isn't attached to the line just free running on the leader if you use a chod bead then that would be ok,probably best to ask the management to clarify And if you are using a lead clip generally you attach the hooklink with a swivel

What about baiting on showing fish ? The other week I arrived in a swim on another lake to find a LOT of carp just mooching about I was aware they may move off at some point during the night so i didn't want to spook them, I opted to throw in about a handful or two of boilies singly to keep the disturbance Down then top up little and often but it didn't happen and I wondered should I have pinged out a lot or just gone with the spod mix I had ready to keep them in the area or just fished singles ?

I think you may be right, I think we catch them when they pity us or have a mad moment and let there hair down

Ha I just want something that may blend Into both if possible just takes out the guess work of what I am fishing on, I guess that's why I am keen to stick with fluorocarbon, it helps with my colour blindness

I am quite happy with the size 4 chod hooks they seem a better fit for this rig Ready for the next phase of testing although I've put my back out again this morning 😭

I think it's quite easy to go too far with it, I think about 6 or 7 seems right for me also, then when my extra fine file arrives will probably just do the same with that or less to get a smoother finish , which in theory will make the hook penetrate more easily,

I've messed up a couple so far but I am fairly practical and have worked in an engineering type environment for a number of years dealing with steel and more recently carbon fibre, so I am quite comfortable doing them really, and actually I used to restore alloy wheels to a mirror finish when I used to mess around with cars so I just take my time and they seem to get sharper 👍

I did make quite a nice rig with the loaded this morning simple and effective,but looks like it would work and be reliable, I am now very much on board with the hook sharpening btw, my hooks are always sharp before they enter the water

I did that again this morning and actually I think I may not be whipping the knot well enough or something,when that knot is right it tightens quite easily, I may persevere for a bit longer as it might be down to human error and trying to make sure it was tight or not quite getting it right,

I've been having a play tonight and the conclusion I've drawn is I don't like korda IQ, I've noticed when tightening the knots down it's done a couple of strange things tonight one of them stretched and concertinered a bit, another one seemed to develop a nick in the fluorocarbon where none were before,which would almost certainly be a weak spot, I won't be using it again anyway, it just doesn't give me confidence so it's back to the drawing board may have found a solution to the silicone problem though wide gapes with there in turned eye that seemed to kick them over nicely , I might try using the avid pin down leader material in the morning I've been happy with my leaders so far so may work as a boom section If not I may just go back to tungsten loaded knotless knot and shrink tube,they used to work in the olden days quite well

Which type of silicone do you use I didn't really like how the one I tried worked tbh looked ok to start with bit then after a while I found the pull of the pop up was straightening it out ,if that makes sense, And also which fluorocarbon are you using ? I really like the rig overall and it seems to work but I can't have failures and would like this to be a 1 off Thanks Elmo
