  1. Hi bluelabel My chair is fine and can be carried, it's my bedchair that needs some work/replacing tbh it's an old slightly knackered jrc cocoon and 4 season sleeping bag (heavy) a rucksack may be a good idea for carrying this or another bedchair when I get some spare funds Dannygooner The pop up cradle weighs 1.65kg and tbh I would rather have it for the safety of the fish, I agree the retainer may be a luxury item that's only needed occasionally but if I can would rather have it with me just incase I need it I was using an extra rod as a marker rod but felt it wasn't needed most of the time I can use a catapult or throw bait out and if I can't I can clip up and tie a spod on fairly quickly, it's not a big lake I will be fishing, but low stock so being able to move easily will help, and I guess over time i can leave the unnecessary items at home But thanks for the input
  2. Anyone tried the cyprinus bedchairs there is a lightweight one for brolleys and shelters that looks pretty useful only weighs 7.3kg and only £70
  3. I think I may have arrived at an ok level of lightness for now My carp catching kit required for short sessions and overnighters Ngt Rod quiver holding 3 rods 2 for fishing one spod/ marker rod, landing net , banksticks, brolley and safety retainer Bag for tackle bits ,food and refreshment bite alarms , scales etc selfie stick /tripod Lightweight chair with bag or bedchair (this needs work ) Bait bucket or two Pop up cradle Job done boom
  4. I might pop to the post office and enquire but thanks for the heads-up The UK gov site always makes things a million times harder and more confusing than it needs to I always end up like Daniel Blake if I need to find something out on there does my head in if you haven't seen I Daniel Blake it is an excellent film btw,
  5. I may be planning to drive next year do these last that long ?
  6. Just thought I would update this one I've bought 3 types of bait screws off Amazon today,I thought about the weight thing and also bought some plastic ones and some new fangled hook rubber bits will try them and see what I think
  7. I may as well use none mine don't ever seem to go off I'd be interested in people's thoughts on ngt alarms and also TFG mag runners ? sonik and ngt do one with a bivvy light btw sorry I can't be more help ginger hope you don't mind me adding to your thread btw
  8. If you need a duel purpose bedchair bag apparently this one also doubles up as a body bag 😬
  9. Depends really might be a bit overgunned but if they go bigger in the lake you will start to catch them at some point,
  10. I think maybe some between 9-12ft with a 2.5 - 2 3/4 lb tc would be best for all round use really, I think the best thing to do is go and try some for feel in a shop, I always thought most rods would be suitable but having tried a few now some just feel right
  11. What type of fishing are you mainly doing at present ? And what are you hoping to do ? Float fishing, hair rigged Boilies and a lead , pva bags that type of thing How big is the lake etc ? How far do you need to cast ?
  12. I think that might be a bit broomsticky 6ft and a 3lb tc, I have a 7ft Grey's stalker rod at 2 3/4 that's lovely with a decent sized carp on, but maybe even a bit stiff for smaller carp, I use 12ft 2 3/4lb rods for most of my carp angling and these tend to be fine, I have also got a John Wilson travel barbel rod I think that's 2 1/4lb TC that might be great for smaller carp and I daresay would be fine with slightly larger ones too, having seen what Wilson used to catch on his old Avon rod this beefed up one should be fine If you are planning on carp only I would try and find some thing 9-10ft with a 21/2lb -2 3/4lb TC that should give you enough scope to be able to cast a bit and still enjoy it

  14. Might just be fox after Brexit
  15. Yeah should be fairly easy for a social with a few swims Not sure about the cafe he is rebuilding the shop at the moment doesn't look very open at the moment though and still in need of a refurb, there are takeaways that deliver though,
  16. I've been fishing on vermuyden at fenland fisheries recently I should think by April the fish will be properly mobile again a guy had a 31lb er out last thursday , never fished willow but apparently you need to book early
  17. I ordered 20kg of monster mix from monster particles last night thanks to your post about them tree123, the half price sale is still on, I think chods may be a good thing for me to try tbh and actually a hinged stiff rig would probably be my other choice for a pop up ? Are bait screws as good as they seem ? I quite fancy using those for ease
  18. I did have a look at some rig vids on the tube last week, I found a Terry hearn bottom bait rig, that I think I will adopt seems to turn nicely and is fairly simple to tie, just need to settle on an effective wafter and pop up rig now, the lakes I am joining are all quite low stock so I need my rigs to be working when the chance arrives,
  19. I've decided to use the same rod for spodding and marker float to save on load when fishing as long as you clip the line on the same spot you are happy with then it should be fine This video was quite interesting https://youtu.be/eWAmnLeE0Fo
  20. Well that didn't go to plan really shot myself in the foot before I had begun, had a right brain fart and picked totally the wrong swim , I had a sort of area in mind before I went, then just walked straight past it to look in the snags, didn't see anything kept going and thought it looked carpy around the cut and as it was sunny would probably warm up quicker was really only full of ducks and it turned cold, i spodded a bit near the reeds on a gravel spot , ducks went nuts for it, had a chat with the only other guy on he'd had a 30 the night before and over bait, I can put it down to tiredness having done a night shift but if I had stuck to the plan I would have given myself a chance at least , I think the motto has to be if you cant find em fish where there Is plenty of water to aim at, Made some lovely spod clouds though that's something to work on
  21. they could at least provide Fast and Free postage, 🙄
  22. Thanks ginger It certainly seems to work for you, 👍 I will decide in the morning how best to approach It but I've just just added some of the basemix to the pellets to give them a lovely coating of floaty goodness which will hopefully draw them in from far and wide to investigate, one more night shift I can't wait till the morning
  23. For some reason I am yet to be converted to zigs, I can see the idea and get why it works but it just seems a bit weird to me, maybe one day I shall try them but sticks may be a good idea as a starting point I have some basemix left that could be added to the mix and a glug for some lovely clouding, but I just wonder if I could get the bait working for me from the start and hopefully draw them in and trick them into having a munch, but I do agree fishing for more than one could be a bad idea, my pellets are fast breakdown types though so would be more for attraction than feeding them, maybe that and some crumb and small bits of boilie could get them going for a bit, I will just have to wait and see if I can find some fish and hope the area is free if not then I may try ringing the dinner bell
  24. I feel the same I think each time I go I am getting closer to one, I've changed bait this time though, and my gut feel is they will be happier with this one and actually I feel a little more confident in it, we shall see I guess I think it's good to be brave sometimes though, and the weather looks set to improve Friday (not by much though ) so hopefully that will help
  25. I haven't got any or seen them, but diawa make lovely reels I've been very happy with my emcast evos which look similar but without the baitrunner facility these are now old but still perform like the first day I got them, they make everything feel smooth, casting ,retrieving I think they were even a joy to play fish on ( can't really remember that though ) Unless diawa quality has taken a serious nosedive I would think they would be a good reel, Just been putting some fresh line on
