  1. It's 4.8kg Danny not mega light but lighter than quite a few possibly less sturdy ones for the above average man like myself
  2. This thread has got me thinking a little still a way off being a lightweight but I have just bought a sonik SK Tek compact chair as a review told me they are rated to 20st, and it folds up small enough to fit in with my net in the unhooking mat/sling so no extra hands required, I'm nearly mobile enough for day sessions as long as it doesn't rain, I haven't got any kind of brolly yet only a Nash titan viper but that's too heavy for a day session
  3. I have started listening to the Carp fishing podcast this week I think you guys may enjoy it if you haven't listened, in one of those they have a chat about what's changed in the scene, very Interesting listen Another couple of things I've noticed that are new FISH SPY I can't work out if I think it's a great idea or if it feels like cheating a bit ? I could definitely use one and learn from it I think, and at least you have to cast it, but for me it's like bait boat revisited ? I can see the pros and cons but ultimately it's a luxury fishing item I haven't really looked into the Sponsored lakes thing btw and don't know much about it , and I agree it is good they are putting something back to the sport, but is this more like how football has gone the Emirates rather than Highbury, king power , Etihad stadium My point being soon will we all be fishing at Nash lakes , or turbowanger lakes or korda or something similar rather than yately ,redmire , wraysbury that i grew up reading about
  4. good luck with Gingerbread I've never fished it but driven over lots of times and used to read about some its inhabitants in the fishing section of the Biggleswade Chronicle, it was always gingerbread and willington that had the biggies in the olden days, I think I quite like the idea of north House now it seems to have all I want for the coming year I may even throw some bait in the south lagoon as well might be nice to see what lurks in there, shame I have to wait till half way through the year for a ticket though, :(
  5. Thanks for that Obsessed, I think I might have a try on there this year, ive always quite liked fishing close in so that style should suit me, hopefully I can get a few, I will probably stick to short sessions and days mainly due to family etc not sure if it is just coincidence but a lot of the gallery pics were taken in daylight, so I am thinking this may not hinder me too much, Are you quite local to there ? I am in Papworth, where are you fishing now if you don't mind me asking ?
  6. Hey Guys Hope you don't mind me digging up an old thread but I have been trying to think of a place I want to have a crack at this year, this one sprung to mind as its quite local to me, I used to fish the other lake a bit when I was a kid but this one looks quite appealing now, and there looks some nice old fish to angle for, how have you found it now you have been there a while ?
  7. Probably better than it bursting into flames while you sleep on it though.
  8. Wow just seen this, he was quite lucky to get out of it, will make me think twice and be a lot more careful in the future , I know it's not so common now but smoking in bed is very dangerous also, I had been out for a heavy weekend many moons ago and decided to have one last Fag, promply fell asleep and ruined my carpet rug and carpet when it fell out my hand still alight, luckily I woke up in time with the smoke causibg me to cough but that would've been worse in a bivvy it wasn't that pleasant in a house btw, Has anyone approached the companies with regard to making there items more flame retardant it seems mad in this day and age that chairs etc arent fire resistant
  9. I am so glad you reminded of the hero in a half Shelly , I stupidly looked at one of his vids on YouTube it was a funny one talks a bit like Joe pascuale in it, you've probably seen it, Anyway now he keeps popping up on my you tube feed, so now I get him , 10 stupidist whatevers Cos I onced watch one of those , and lots of home decoration / plumbing, sealant removal vids in my feed
  10. I've just worked out it's been over 10 years, you mean jim Shelley btw ? 😉 I think he was on Nash bait last I remember,
  11. I thought I would see what's changed since I last angled, I've noticed sponsored lakes are on the up round my way there are Nash lakes and a korda embryo lake, neither really appeal I have to say lots less club waters and more syndicated waters all over the place All the videos I've watched everyone seems to use 2 poles stuck in the ground and casts out in wraps these days not feet or yards ? Bait fashion seems to be krill based or coconut ? Pop ups are still bright , goo was a thing I believe , I just bought a camo bucket will I be slaughtered for it eeek, it does seem like nothing and everything has changed since I was last fishing, but one thing I did notice was you don't get a lot with £50 in a tackle shop these days 😬

  17. bit of a shame you cant get out there mate im the same i gotta work all this week but ill be going down there for a few days after that so i cant complain really i will give those hooks a go i think ill just be extra careful at casting with them theres a lot of trees around there
  18. hello coops hows tricks i must admit the more i think about them the more they sound really good i may give them a go i thought about the difference between a cheap drill bit and a good one the good ones always last a hell of a lot longer and stay a lot sharper so i guess its the same thing with these hooks and the cost might work itself out if they last 3 times longer than a normal hook
  19. cheers mick only 99p a hook now sounds a bargain although they do sound really good:D
  20. i had 2 hook pulls on widegape b's last week gutted but it happens i guess although i never had it with the micro barbed ones i re read the rules and i am allowed to use whisker barb which to me translates to micro barb :D is that the same thing i have used owners before in barbed and they were good and im gonna be trying a few that you have suggested although if i can it will now be microbarbed just a confidence thing i spose:D
  21. i wouldnt use fox hooks again tried them once lost a biggy whilst floater fishing(set up in an emergency) and when i checked the whole packet was blunt never again
  22. i just looked on the tackle box webbie and they are £11.99 for 10 on there thats over a pound a hook i dunno if i could spend that on hooks id be gutted if i lost one :D i will go shopping tomorrow and have a browse at some of your suggestions cheers guys
