  1. The Tungsten Loaded is also my fave, although I prefer it in semi stiff.
  2. Green is the 'natural' colour of isotopes and why it will always be brightest. Any other colours just have chemicals added which dulls them.
  3. Exactly. If you choose your swim based on recommendations you're relying on luck. Get down there, find the fish, fish for them! Good luck.
  4. Hardly any of their products are on their website buddy, not sure it's even updated any more..... I think they just use FB now, worth having a look on there. As far as I'm aware it's still made, it's still available in tackle shops.
  5. Standard line can tangle or tether though...... we are all risking the safety of the fish to a certain extent simply by fishing. IMO if a carp gets tethered on 15 lb line it aint snapping it, it'll rip it's own face off before the line goes. The safest rig is the one that lands the fish IMO. If that takes 20 lb line and a leadcore leader then where does that leave us? Tricky one. I tend to agree..... but Rig Marole Linqtek does none of that! I'm using tubing at the mo but that's due to rules. I'll be honest, given the choice I'd be on the Linqtek.
  6. It would almost be worth getting ripped off for comedy value alone if you ordered some from a tackle shop and it arrived packaged in the same thing lol.....
  7. I'm not sure bud.... they are defo starch based but it doesn't mention maize. Might be worth asking for a sample, you'll know straight away if it's the right one by taste. The good stuff is pretty much tasteless, the bad stuff has a bitter burning taste as it melts.
  8. Interesting, how do you go about doing that Nick?
  9. I'm more worried about the way the rig sits after it's been moved rather than whether it's still with the bait from the bag guys. All the more reason to be concerned IMO. See I think if a decent carp even swims past the rig the resulting water displacement will mean that presentation will be lost? I guess what I'm saying is I struggle to stay confident using rigs with no re-setting properties. I've tried stiffer materials in bags but they just tend to kink up and look a bit pants.
  10. A question for the solid bag users; does it bother you that when you get done by mr carp (which IMO happens a hell of a lot) your original presentation is lost? I've used and caught on bags many times over the years but IMO once a pick-up is attempted and the carp aint hooked you're basically praying that the soft braided hook link is still presented as intended? It's really turned me off bags with pretty much any bait other than those you know the carp will nail themselves first time (maggots and worms etc....).
  11. You'll be amazed with the difference it makes!
  12. Defo nylon bud. The aerosol is decent, I use it for smaller items. You'll probs juts about get away with a single can for a brolly.
  13. Bear in mind if you use the standard Fabsil for a breathable bivvy you'll ruin the properties of the material, it'll completely seal it!
  14. If that's where they are then that's where you need to (attempt to) fish mate! Simple fact is you won't catch carp when there's none there to catch so unless you can find them and fish for them you're counting on a lucky bite (which in 60 acres would have to be very lucky).
  15. I just get everything in brown and catch over weed, silt, gravel..... If you check your tackle in the margins you'll see over everything but the cleanest gravel it really doesn't make much difference. On really clean stuff I might use a fluoro leader but when we're fishing with fluorescent pink hookbaits what does it matter lol....
  16. Fish where the fish are, the best advice anyone can give.
  17. Nah, I disagree Highy. Same old guff in a new colour. If carp knew what they were looking at when they come across a lead clip none of us would ever have caught a carp in out lives IMO.
  18. For nylon shelters use Fabsil. For breathable materials e.g. Aquatex use Fabsil Gold. For any winter skins that will fit in the washing machine you can get Nickwax wash-in waterproofer, not quite as good as Fabsil but easier and cheaper. All this stuff works on waterproof clothing, waterproof sleeping bag covers etc.... and it is well worth doing.
  19. I go mental with the stuff, the lakes I fish are so weedy I completely encase the hook, one nugget either side, wet and stuck together firmly while trying not to crush the ends so they maintain buoyancy. I need it to stay on all the way down to the deck and prefer it to suspend the hookbait temporarily before melting off. Not bothered about residue, my hook baits are normally either white or fluoro anyway. Good tip that, I used to do that but got bored of having to tie another every time I got a cast wrong (which is frequently lol...).....
  20. Yup, a lot of the parcels delivered to my work are packed with the same, that's where I get mine from. Useless info: it's not actually PVA, it's maize/starch based. There's two types, one has a strong chemically taste (no good) and the other is the good stuff. Go through the packaging companies and you'll get hold of them for next to nothing. It's one of the highest carp-taxed items out there. A supplier to my work was offering 15 cubic ft bags for less than 15 quid.
  21. I understand it was originally due to open in June. It's defo open now buddy, closes at 6 pm (I think), although they kept it open after 6 for us as my mate couldn't make his mind up over what to get lol....
  22. I just posted this on another forum and thought you guys should see it too what with the number of Nene Valley anglers on here: I visited this place after work yesterday with a mate and was well impressed. They've only been open 2 weeks so they're not fully set up yet but well on the way. It's a big place. Downstairs is the general tackle section with your stands full of terminal tackle, clothing, bait, bits 'n pieces.... upstairs they have a showroom with shelters, bedchairs, luggage nets etc.... bigger stuff basically. Most of the stands are already fully stocked but they're still waiting for some (e.g. the Korda stuff is turning up today). The guy that runs the place seems sound, offered us a cuppa etc. Nice fella. We ended up walking out with some stuff; my mate picked up a Techlite for £180 which is a very good price and I picked up a hardback copy of The Horton Chronicles for 20 quid!Best bit is it's located half way between where I work and my syndi water lol.....This place should come in really handy for the Nene Valley lads. The prices (that we got) are better than anything you'll find online. I would highly recommend checking the place out. It's located at: Unit 10 Pytchley Business Park, Orion Way, Kettering, Northants, NN15 6NL It's tricky to find, took me ages and I had directions from a mate as well (I'm also from Kettering lol)!
