Defo nylon bud. The aerosol is decent, I use it for smaller items. You'll probs juts about get away with a single can for a brolly.

If that's where they are then that's where you need to (attempt to) fish mate! Simple fact is you won't catch carp when there's none there to catch so unless you can find them and fish for them you're counting on a lucky bite (which in 60 acres would have to be very lucky).

I just get everything in brown and catch over weed, silt, gravel..... If you check your tackle in the margins you'll see over everything but the cleanest gravel it really doesn't make much difference. On really clean stuff I might use a fluoro leader but when we're fishing with fluorescent pink hookbaits what does it matter lol....

Nah, I disagree Highy. Same old guff in a new colour. If carp knew what they were looking at when they come across a lead clip none of us would ever have caught a carp in out lives IMO.

For nylon shelters use Fabsil. For breathable materials e.g. Aquatex use Fabsil Gold. For any winter skins that will fit in the washing machine you can get Nickwax wash-in waterproofer, not quite as good as Fabsil but easier and cheaper. All this stuff works on waterproof clothing, waterproof sleeping bag covers etc.... and it is well worth doing.

I go mental with the stuff, the lakes I fish are so weedy I completely encase the hook, one nugget either side, wet and stuck together firmly while trying not to crush the ends so they maintain buoyancy. I need it to stay on all the way down to the deck and prefer it to suspend the hookbait temporarily before melting off. Not bothered about residue, my hook baits are normally either white or fluoro anyway. Good tip that, I used to do that but got bored of having to tie another every time I got a cast wrong (which is frequently lol...).....

Yup, a lot of the parcels delivered to my work are packed with the same, that's where I get mine from. Useless info: it's not actually PVA, it's maize/starch based. There's two types, one has a strong chemically taste (no good) and the other is the good stuff. Go through the packaging companies and you'll get hold of them for next to nothing. It's one of the highest carp-taxed items out there. A supplier to my work was offering 15 cubic ft bags for less than 15 quid.

I understand it was originally due to open in June. It's defo open now buddy, closes at 6 pm (I think), although they kept it open after 6 for us as my mate couldn't make his mind up over what to get lol....

I just posted this on another forum and thought you guys should see it too what with the number of Nene Valley anglers on here: I visited this place after work yesterday with a mate and was well impressed. They've only been open 2 weeks so they're not fully set up yet but well on the way. It's a big place. Downstairs is the general tackle section with your stands full of terminal tackle, clothing, bait, bits 'n pieces.... upstairs they have a showroom with shelters, bedchairs, luggage nets etc.... bigger stuff basically.Most of the stands are already fully stocked but they're still waiting for some (e.g. the Korda stuff is turning up today).The guy that runs the place seems sound, offered us a cuppa etc. Nice fella.We ended up walking out with some stuff; my mate picked up a Techlite for £180 which is a very good price and I picked up a hardback copy of The Horton Chronicles for 20 quid!Best bit is it's located half way between where I work and my syndi water lol.....This place should come in really handy for the Nene Valley lads. The prices (that we got) are better than anything you'll find online. I would highly recommend checking the place out. It's located at: Unit 10 Pytchley Business Park, Orion Way, Kettering, Northants, NN15 6NL It's tricky to find, took me ages and I had directions from a mate as well (I'm also from Kettering lol)!

True, It's the swiss cut 4 pillar that's the best for hooks.

Use different hooks! The Korda hooks do sharpen well but you can sharpen them by having a kitten lick them, they're much softer than some other brands. The hardest hooks I've used are Atomics. The JAG kit is great for sharpening but a little pricey.

As above, what kind is it? I find line/braid is one the things you just do not skimp on. There's all kinds of rubbish on Amazon/Ebay etc.... best to avoid them IMO. I hear the Korda SUBbraid is very, very good (surprising as I don't rate their mono lines one bit). You'll probs tell me it is the Korda stuff you bought now lol......

That's the sign of a poor pop up IMO buddy. I usually use cork balls (and pierce them) but the Proper Job Pop Ups are good for piercing. They do an attractor package for pretty much any situation too.

In fact it would be worse with a stiff multi as the materials are heavier....

That's the fault of the hookbait, not the rig. Any rig will droop if the pop up is poor. A decent pop up will fix this mate.

I've used mono multis for bottom baits/wafters previously and they perform OK but personally for pop ups I'd not consider it.

My Lo Pro, home for 4 days over the weekend. Minute and a half to put up, 50 seconds to pack down, 3.3 kg. Great coverage as you can see, it was smashing it down. Really impressed with it.

ESP Lo Pro. Quickest and lightest on the market.

I am very, very sceptical about trying a mainline from a firm that specialise in sandwhich toasters and don't actually produce anything themselves. I would defo wait for reviews bud.

Likewise, very surprised.... it's the most abrasions resistant line I've used! I'd be using more than 12 lb line if I was fishing to lillies. There's your answer bud.... I'd always check my line after it's been subject to some lilly abuse and remove a few feet if required. Sounds like it just about stood up to the lilles the first time round but was too much to go again.
