  1. some good tips there a few would work on any water
  2. i wouldnt step up , not even for a huge lake( which 10-15 is the low end of medium even in this country) 3.5 is getting into broom stick territory for playing fish. i use a 3.5 for spodding your 2.75 will do the job perfectly, even better than a new one .as your familiar with it spend your money on something you need
  3. arh then its the flow causing it to tangle .iv had this problem and the quickest way i found to solve it was just not to use it switch to IQ soft had landed a barbel 20 minutes after . may be a small shot on the hair ??? i didnt try that but it crossed my mind , but the IQ link worked and kept it simple
  4. i guessing its the braid tied to the hook?? i find if im using braid using the line aligner helps cut down any tangles the other trick is to always use a small pva bag of something or even tie the hair up with pva tape
  5. i was there last night, thats where the 14lber came from, the two points are receding back loads from wind/water erosion and the north island doesnt look far off just being a plateau soon but the trees and bushes have grown on loads making it a pretty place to go now
  6. hey fella , you found an old thread. this isnt the one you started
  7. yer spot where the fish are, and if the swims free ,fish it
  8. may be try common sense and some imagination
  9. yes its day ticket. iv fish it a bit last year and was my main lake for a few years before . my biggest is 24lb , it holds a lot of fully or near fully scaled mirrors. i know a 29lber came out a year or so back. the numbers 01733 782621 if need it
  10. yes mate, i know a bit. lots of doubles and fair few twenties and a possible a thirty unless its done one already. not sure on how many but but id say its rammed,(ask Don the bailiff)but that don't mean its easy, some days its the best runs water around if your on the fish and then for weeks it can seem dead like someones moved the fish the are tench and bream but they don't come out much ,one bream came out at over 10lb they closed the track around it so you need a barrow, which kept the numbers down last year compared to when you could drive around ,so its quite it cost about £100 a year or £15 a night the only down side is they use it to water the potatoes, so a loud pumps runs some years and emptys half the lake, good for feature finding thro.
  11. if you stand on the new platform at the parkway end on a hot sunny day you can see them , back in may i had a wander round and see ten or so mid doubles swimming in that bay. last year i met a guy at sibson and he had been baiting lb1 and seen a few 30+ still in there. its too big for the northey lads to have caught all the monsters

    the medusa

i not keen on this rig ,to fiddly and get wasted tieing it and does the smell of glue attract or repell the fish?? is creating a lighter fluid rig worth a go
  13. do you feather the cast ?? dont if you do have you tried using a inline lead ??? to reduce the chance of a tangle and i found it good to tie a pva bag on with floaters in to help it rise i have the same trouble with marker float because of the silk weed on the bottom trapping the line in the swivel . so adding a boom to the lead can keep it above it could help
  14. if you use 15lb in any of them you shouldnt have any trouble 25lb is a bit tricky on some hooks but if you strip it ,all of them should go thro twice three times maybe tieing a d ring ?
  15. i was getting people on the other side casting near my feet but that was the morning after id landed a few and was packing up slowly
  16. if any ones got any pics of the new lake can they post them on here i used to work over that way but dont now so its time i lose on my water if i got time to visit
  17. it can work over weed,as its balanced it fall slower ,sitting on top of the weed. use a long hook lenght for this to work best ,or any balanced bait over weed,as you dont want the hook pulled into the weed by the lead or the same for silt
  18. i think the bigger the bait the longer the hair needed if the hook cant lay flat on the deck its to short
  19. i feed the river with porridge oats and can of tuna and heard of loads that work as floaters ,sugar puffs being the best
  20. im guessing the farmer dont use a spod or boat to feed so forget about a long cast ,and forget about modern day carp tactics and side hook the corn and drop it in the margin or at most a under arm flick out the may be fish in the middle but they should be used to feeding close in ,unless its been catted out ?? on a lake i found thats not fished but people feed i found fish swim towards me when i moved my arm like i was throwing bait in,i still not sneaked a rod on but im always tempted good luck that sounds like fun
  21. blue tack or plastercine mixed with grinding dust or even sand for all us skin flints or for the wealthy file down a gold ring and add that
  22. i do this to nearly every bait/rig. if using a boilie il cut it in half and use a trimmed pop up on top,or if using particals il add a trimed fake on, as so the weight of the hook/rig isnt reconised ,and should seem the same as freebies.and if im not using a small pva (which is rare) is slows the fall and settles better . this all works better on supple hook lenghts
  23. mono ,stiff??? its not what id class as stiff ,more inbetween. fluorocarbon in 15lb or above is as stiff as iv ever done ,but not recently as im strictly limp braids now all the way through on a few fish which wernt more than 16lb the stiff hair made the hook twist in the lip causeing unessersary damage. well i think it was the stiff hair or hook in scissors on limp rigs its 99% in bottom lip bang in the middle ,but this have been bigger fish .so size of mouth could be effecting things . but with nearly everyone using coated braid or fluoro ,and just the simpleness of braid , i dont think i could go back. the only thing i add is a lenght of shrink tube at loop end to stop it tangling if im on single. but if using pva i dont il have to find the thread you did a while back coops about this . im sure i was praising stiff rigs back then
  24. iv not been for awhile but it seemed to be full of 15lbish cats and carp ,see a pic of a 45lb cat that came out and told carp go to 30 but its small so 4or 5 anglers and it feels rammed not the prettiest place as it looks like a puddle but a good runs water £15 24hrs and you get locked in at night
