  1. i have off a boat, just down stream oppersite the castle hump is a quality little dead arm couldnt pay tonys prices to fish it afew quid more and you can get on kingfisher kev green did an episode of ........erm cant remember...carp something or other down there or get a WDNAC ticket for £30 and fish the plantation just down stream or oundle ticket for aston for about the same price, both include nights.
  2. ferry meadows is a good start, get a push bike and see whats about, always some about, some pegs can be fished all year but most follow the season. stanground lock a good place, or the boathouse near the old hospital, the old a47 at castor along the bank thats looks across to the sailing lake, back water on the thrope golf course, dont need to pre bait these spots but it can help. then any stretch all the way up,tho the oundle area is still the best due to the 98 floods
  3. sorry fosterd ,if i caused offence or seemed harsh. i see it all the time in supermarkets, special offer signs over the top of the of the original price..................which is the same price adding "30"in the sentence when the arent any tho you should be promoted
  4. starts as the best way and by the time youve typed it your not so convinced its the best any more
  5. said like that stoogi its clear.............not the way foosterd has. its open to interpretation, a play on words
  6. do you do sales/BS for a living......................45 20s
  7. trap the stiff hair in a bit of shrink tube on the shank with the end blobbed , knotless knot the limp hook lenght. this leave you with a bit of movement ,which also means it can cater for a bigger/smaller bait
  8. swan was stocked with huge fish,to take the pressure off kingfisher, thats not a secret. benson was stocked at 25lbish, not exactly a crowd puller at the time, who could of known what size it would go to ????????????
  9. i hope he dont stock any, well at least not in kingfisher.swan it wouldnt matter and iv never fancied it any way. but not kingy
  10. 6-10 at most, and if they all turn up on a bank holiday your going to get unhappy members
  11. 40 members on a 2 acre lake,is that a typo?????
  12. iv been on that stretch...............on a barge
  13. i went in september kev and it was rammed, the only lake that wasnt was sandmartin and that had more on then id ever seen, but then thats been giving up a few so i expected more than usual
  14. i like the fact he took the time to read when the post was made, but not when he planned to fish it

    hooks

i cant see this being of much use, on most standard rigs i bet you find every type works, its only on rigs like a chod where an out turn eye is needed that patterns make a difference
  16. I must be old fashioned, I still think a bivvy is the lap of luxury! Huts are where sheep sleep, aren't they? Or is it shepherds? Anglers?.....no, surely not. Ian i second that, bivvy for me any day, a hut would be like having a caravan on the peg.........But a hut can be a great idea for couples when a woman dont like tents but the chances are if she dont like tents then she'll not be too keen on a shed full of spiders
  17. i should of mentioned im lucky and have the nene to fish the longest stretch between locks is about 7 miles during april may and june thats the time to get out check out any back cuts and shallows that you can find from river maps or google earth, they can arrive in them areas early for spawning and once they start you get idea of whats in there, even then tho some cuts that you can get a rowing boat up 1 year can turn in to a mass of reeds, one year i walked across a 10ft wide cut that was solid, after a good winter and flood it was a hot spot again
  18. i find river carping easier than lakes, they dont seem to bunch up in a corner cause of the wind (where the isnt a free swim)and chances are theyll pass by your bait at least once over your sess the hard part is normallly getting your kit to the spots worth targeting and finding a hook strong enough to land them
  19. you can re-use putty, so should last years. unless you lend it to mate and its not in your box next time you need it

Careful, you putting words into peoples mouth, although the thought that you need to get out and experience things may definitely help you had sprung to mind By the way, Santa Claus did exist, he was an Eastern European or Turk (can't remember which) who did go around at Christmas time giving gifts to those who were struggling to survive, hence why we remember Saint Nicklaus or a turk???? are they not easten europeans then??? that still dont narrow it down , that could include us if you're irish

you feeling ok chris??you dont need a sit down after all that ?? im only joking fella id use a running rig, inline would give a bit of both, but i tend to use inline in weed and add a bead to stop the swivel sitting inside which reduces the hooking potential but keeps the indication up with the run rig.

i know you know which lead set up will give you both, just like you know which lead gives good indication and which ones give good hooking so go on dont be shy and play along which lead should you use ???

id say you cant get much more simple then a run rig or inline, a lead/safety clip is getting more advanced IMO what do you want out of the rig?? good indication good hooking properties or a bit of both ??

what rig did you think (if you did ) you should use, what was your gut instinct what did that angler thats deep inside trying to get out think to try??
