  1. ah you still hurting over your run water fleecing
  2. one knot quicker then two only if you cant tie the combi knot
  3. Im just glad not everyone tries to jump down my throat for doing things slightly differently or having an opinion lol am i then???. i just think it extra bells and whistles,i may get on your back if i see you say "keep it simple " now tho
  4. unless using two stiff links i cant see the point of the joining ring either, a soft limp braid doesnt need it
  5. whats the extra ring on the shank for/do??? the hinge placement will determine what height the bait sits off the bottom, but i think as close to the hook the better, but not under an inch to the eye,tho trying out the slight difference can pay ,and add to experience.
  6. can you stick a pic up is this the rig that sorta looks like the withypool but has the hook link coming out the middle instead of the end, of tubing (shorter)then has the stiff bit to follow the shape of what would be the long curved tubing??????
  7. no you didnt you just said as slack as possible.........its possible to leave the bail arm open. some one on here new to the sport may not know your reasons for this,as you didnt give one. then after you added"the tow".
  8. what stops it tightening up in the flow
  9. i wouldnt fish slack lines unless fishing up stream, down stream id say is a no no, even on a slow flowing river, where the mean flow is a lot greater then you may think. unless they see lots of pressure i wouldnt worry,if it got a hook and bait the rig will work
  10. i dont think anything else works on the chod except leadcore, you can use a fluoro leader but then you end up weighting down the pop-up...............which then stops the pop-up floating up the line, changing the mechanics of it,for which it is used for in the 1st place. heli/chod set up is the only way i think is safest (note safest not safe) jem....i cant see how a running rig set up is any different to a leadclip...the link is still attached to the leadcore, meaning a break would still leave the fish trailing the leadcore........unlike the heli, where if the bead can pass freely then it should slip off the leader at some point leaving only the hooklink in the fishes mouth. now take snagging up out of the conversation ,the is still the fiction factor of it rubbing on the flanks...but this isnt as bad as what they do to themselves during spawning, not that that matters what they do to them self only what anglers do.

    Amnesia?

Thats the one cheers beanz was racking my brain for ages on that name. no worries, its laying on the desk next to me,it was a half a joke,as i wasnt sure if i had in my box or not,as like i said i prefer the ESP

    Amnesia?

i cant remember that or ESP bristle filament which i find to be stiffer
  14. id have to say unflavoured rig foam or fake/glow corn
  15. starts as the best way and by the time youve typed it your not so convinced its the best any more
  16. trap the stiff hair in a bit of shrink tube on the shank with the end blobbed , knotless knot the limp hook lenght. this leave you with a bit of movement ,which also means it can cater for a bigger/smaller bait

    hooks

i cant see this being of much use, on most standard rigs i bet you find every type works, its only on rigs like a chod where an out turn eye is needed that patterns make a difference
  18. i should of mentioned im lucky and have the nene to fish the longest stretch between locks is about 7 miles during april may and june thats the time to get out check out any back cuts and shallows that you can find from river maps or google earth, they can arrive in them areas early for spawning and once they start you get idea of whats in there, even then tho some cuts that you can get a rowing boat up 1 year can turn in to a mass of reeds, one year i walked across a 10ft wide cut that was solid, after a good winter and flood it was a hot spot again
  19. i find river carping easier than lakes, they dont seem to bunch up in a corner cause of the wind (where the isnt a free swim)and chances are theyll pass by your bait at least once over your sess the hard part is normallly getting your kit to the spots worth targeting and finding a hook strong enough to land them
  20. you can re-use putty, so should last years. unless you lend it to mate and its not in your box next time you need it

    combi rig

have you looked on youtube, the are loads
  22. im not to sure on the lack of bait theory, if its singles the fish has to decide to take it or leave it, if it spooks while taking it, then is that not a rig problem the extra pressure is something where id expect singles to work better than heavy baiting, the is a story i heard about kingfisher lake. the fish were coming out less and less, boats the were the norm and lots of bait was going in, the fish were puting on weight but they not getting caught. then the buzz spread around about how well zigs and singles were pulling out the lumps and this started to become the norm, untill the weights started dropping. tony started getting a little edgy and it was talked about banning zigs. but he didnt and from what i see on my last visit the bait is going in again, only more of a spread then tight.
  23. not sure, maybe a heavier lead, your strike could be something to look at, over that distance you have a lot of line to pick first, (unless your on braid)do reel down to the fish? or pick rod up and strike??not that you need to strike with bolt rigs.
  24. a few questions how far out are you fishing? what lead set up are you using? what size lead? are you fishing tight or slack lining?
  25. yer that why danny says to check the hook on underwater 1-1000 cause he knows that 50% need binning before using, he is a quality mind washing machine , i admit i bought loads of korda products after watching the first dvd
