salokcinnodrog got a reaction from elmoputney in multi rig questions
Earith or somewhere else?
I had to up the bait size on Virginia when rudd were about, and avoid using particles and pellets.
I don't mind catching 2lb rudd when I'm fishing for them, but they could be a pain over the particle.
I had to go to 2x 15mm boilies on the hair, and resort to stringers.

I had to set up 2 swims down to the right under the trees on Wednesday, no shade where I had been prebaiting with Vitalin and KMG, and I was not going to let Sky overheat. Still in the same area, just the opposite end of the rushes, and out of the swan's fighting area...

I'm thawing now, but tomorrow I'll add either, some DNA S7 Spod Syrup, Mainline Cream Smart Liquid, Manilla Active Powder.

Bag of each, hemp, Vitalin, GLM pellets when I bought Sky a sack of Armitages working Dog complete. Her food is VAT free, well the dog food, she does get my meat and vegetable trimmings (except onions and garlic) added to her food.
Got plenty of hemp and a kilo of Birdfood prepared in a bucket ready to be used tomorrow, sack of Vitalin is still in the car

salokcinnodrog got a reaction from kevtaylor in Spawning 2023
I wonder how many places people think they are spawning when they are not.
These North Quarter winds and temperatures not reaching 18⁰C are holding the fish back in my syndicate, and it is 1st June. They are full, and looking spawny, but nowhere near the known spawning areas, although a few males are hanging around the edges. I don't think that they will feed properly either until spawned.

It's a work in progress. RichardF is keeping me busy as he gets everything online basically item by item.

Such a shame, you will have to get fishing more to christen it all.

Went to buy a secondhand reel yesterday. Came back with two reels, two rods, two sleeves, two pots of hookbait pellets and three pellet wagglers. D'oh! 🎣🤣

I always forget to tell my mate my lead bag is in his rucksack then when we get to our faraway swim suddenly I would remember…this has happened several times 😇

JS is the same in real life, and not as nice as his books portray. I won't wash laundry in public, but I've had run'ins with him, and I know additional stories, not just hearsay.
I miss Richard Gardners posts, and articles.
I recall some articles he wrote years ago about both fly fishing for carp, and Nile Perch in Africa.
Moorsey used to be prolific.
Newest purchase, after rod licence last week (disabled get concessionary, wow!) to replace the 3 year old chest waders that started leaking in both legs after finding cracked off leads, rigs and hooks in the weed, I ordered a new pair Wednesday night, they have just arrived.
£30 well spent.

salokcinnodrog got a reaction from elmoputney in ND tackle dongles set any good or not?
I bought the Att dongles to go onto my Delkims years ago, must be 10+?
I'm sure I had them when I first went onto Nazeing in 2008, so they have lasted. The receiver lasts at least a year on a single Eveready or Duracell AA battery, however dependant on use or type the dongle batteries will need changing around every 3 months. The GP batteries don't have a good life, the ones I got from Maplin were a whole lot better, sadly Maplin😖
I know this goes against Emmcees opinion, sorry, I have found the ST Delkims with the dongles worked for me, and I know it is a common judgement that Delkim TXi's had water ingress problems for a few years.

That’s a shame as some of those very old threads contained invaluable info that I’ve referred back to over the years .

There is not a lower limit you could have one or 2 in a water that size will be hard to catch them but depends on what you want from your fishing
but
higher level can cause problems..
look at some of the problems in high stocked match venues

Depends a lot on depth of water as that has a big impact on water volume. I've recently fished 2 x 25+ acre lakes - both holding 1000s of carp. One is an average of 20+feet deep, whereas the other is only about 8 feet deep on average.
I would have no concerns about the fish in the deeper lake - the volume is more than twice that of the shallower lake.
You will obviously catch much less in your 20 acre - 100 fish lake, BUT the fish will be less stressed, better water quality (the most important thing full stop) and you will learn more and appreciate your successes more than on an easy runs water. My early experiences on a lake of 25+ acres with 35 fish, choked with weed gave me invaluable skills and understanding - a fast track apprenticeship if you like. Go for it!!!

After an 8 month hiatus from catching fish I was more than pleased to get the net under this pair last weekend. Caught off two different spots which was satisfying the bottom one fought like a big fish too, really slow and ploddy and stayed deep, if I had lost it I would've sworn it was a monster.

Am I starting something in May?
I set up in 'my' baited swim on Tuesday, but after a blank night felt a move was in order.
Another blank last night, but today I had fish showing so stayed where I was. Got swanned out on 1 rod, but the left hand in the shallower water by the island margins was left alone. Had a rather nice take on a little RH Infusion Naturalz as the sun set.
This little fella at 20lb 2oz was stocked in January at 17.

Cheers Nick, I'll pick up a cheap mat off a mate who runs a unit seeling fishing gear and keep in the boot. Better safe than sorry.

That looks like a lump on light gear.
Definitely trouble you don't expect, especially if there aren't any carp in the water...
I've landed double figure carp from a pond that "absolutely no carp were stocked in" according to the owner.
I noticed the unhooking mat comments, my accidental capture lead to me always having something like this in my gear:
https://www.northeasttackle.co.uk/carp-fishing-tackle-c29/carp-accessories-c59/dam-fighter-pro-unhooking-mat-p4185
(Shop around I just picked one at random)
Not mega expensive, it's handy doubling up to protect your backside when roving for chub etc, or in Sky's case, a dog bed when roach fishing on the reservoir.
