Rollin baits used to make Nutrabaits baits before Bill Cottam sold Nutrabaits.
They have a pretty good reputation, as does MCF.

I had a look at the websites of Innovate, Poacher and Blakes, and they look professional. You don't, no matter what Go Daddy or IONOS says, come up with a decent website like that without spending money.

I've said it in the past, and unfortunately it has bitten you (and me) in the backside, get a bait firm that will be there long term, no cutting corners or mixes, that will be there in 5 years.

Of the companies that you have given, I would be looking at Rollin, Blakes, because they are their own company, with the backing of an animal feed supply, or Poachers baits as I know the name and have been around a good few years.

It would be my Shakespeare Specialist rod.
I use it for fishing for roach, bream, chub, tench, carp etc.
It slings out feeders, light ledger weights, surface fishing dog biscuits, float fishing, pretty much everything, and does it well. I've landed 20lb carp, 2lb roach and 5lb chub on it. Lovely rod!

Reel wise, stuck between my Marco Cortesi Centrepin or a Shimano 4000 fighting drag.

salokcinnodrog got a reaction from crusian in A few pike including a new PB over 20lb
Time to bring back an old thread for the first pike trip of the season.
Started the day with a 12lb pike on a whole ledgered herring.

As it wriggled while I unhooked it, the barbless treble caught my middle finger, so snipped the trace to unhook the pike and my finger.

Been having a few pike trips this year, nothing special until today.
A ledgered pollen produced a 20lb1oz fish. Hadn't been out more than 20minutes

If you want to make that claim you should don't forget it's a payment to keep you with some sort of active lifestyle and not because a person is fully immobile which is what a lot of people think.
My Mrs gets it and DLA before the swap over she has had lifelong hypermobility gets to be a real problem with the most basic of tasks once you get past 40 or so.

It’s nothing special, we’ll it is to me , but it’s an old Ron Thompson Avon rod with Feeder attachments etc .
I use it ( obviously) for feeder fishing , surface work and float fishing for whatever comes along . Dunno how much it cost at the time , it wasn’t expensive, but it’s a proper Jack of all trades and I love it . Used it recently with my well old Mitchell 320 reel and landed everything from small silvers through to upper double Carp .
A great tool and goes to show that you don’t need to spend fortunes on all these specialist rods to enjoy a days fishing.

    October already!
    Where has this year gone?
Congratulations to those catching so far.
I suppose that I had better admit to catching myself, a 23lb common from the syndicate on a cut down 12mm Monster Crab pop-up on a Multi rig and 3oz running lead. Hurt like hell lifting it for pics as I have a trapped nerve in my right shoulder.

    Could be me!
I've said in the past that I think that they are not particularly sharp.

He’s a tremendous all round Angler working for a tremendous all round Angling tackle company .

If he’s chosen to leave for another company I’d be surprised.
He’s not as young as he used to be . He probably just wants to retire and enjoy his fishing . Good luck to him .

I had just landed a fish when this very old chap who had been fishing not far from me came up to take a look and the conversation went something like this.
“That’s a nice fish” he said
“Thank you. Do you fish here often”? I asked
    “once or twice per month”
    “any luck?
“Oh I’ve never caught a fish – I just like fishing”

I've used various shaped hookbaits, and some like discs, 'halves' or cubes are definitely harder to eject than round baits from what I have seen.

I really am itching to get out.....
I had 3kg of 20mm Mainline Diamond Whites, (from the charity match raffle) I've ground them up to a dust/crumb, trimmed a few down to about 12mm.
Gonna make up some pva mesh balls, for some close in fishing under the club lake trees, hopefully bring em in.
    Fishing running rigs slack lined.

I went for the large in the end. There was 2 on eBay last night within an hour of each other so had to make a decision.
I don’t particularly like well fitting clothes anyway and even my t-shirts are baggy so I went for the large when I could easily have gone for the medium .
I read on another forum about a fella recommending the bigger size saying the more air in there the more warm air created .
oh and the large was in DPM lol . Just need a light compact but warm sleeping bag now 🤣

I have an Ultimate sleeping bag cover, for keeping the sleeping bag dry.
My extra or spare clothing is always kept in the rucksack until needed.
I've just been boiling up some particles for a session from tomorrow. The last of the birdfood sack I bought earlier in the year.

Looks like the Nitehawk combat boots are getting an airing.

Not at all mate , if I hadn’t seen the stocking photos with my own eyes I’d probably question it myself .
But yes , all part of the puzzle . I said to Nick ( I think) only the other week that it’s the challenge that I’m enjoying so it doesn’t matter to me whether a catch a big girl this weekend or if it takes 5 years
The important part to me is that whatever the plan , I’ll have the opportunity to implement it as I don’t have to rush to the lake after work in order to get a swim , ANY swim . I can casually turn up when I feel like it and pick & choose location.
That fact , I’m delighted to say , is reflected in the title of the thread and is worth every penny of the annual ticket money regardless of the stamp of fish.

As an aside , I woke up in the ICU yesterday morning, seems I’d fainted and lost consciousness.
When my Mrs asked what had happened I said “I dunno love , last thing I remember I was on EBay looking at the price of Snugpak jackets & sleeping bags “….

I know this is an old thread, but it has some interesting comments from many people on it.

I've quoted a section of a post by @sir axeman about 'no spodding', and @elmoputney has a lovely reply, one of which I have used, as Brackens had a No Spodding rule, bait could only be put in via PVA.
However instead of just casting out with 1 PVA bag, I put a bed of bait out with them. I used to make up a load of PVA bags, (with a lead inside) and attach each one, lead and bag to a Breakaway Spinlink clip.

The key to making many rigs effective is location and baiting/feeding.

Feeder fishing on the river with my youngest little Oscar. We managed a few nice chub with blocks of bacon grill. (She was unhooked on some soft wet grass and safely returned in the net) just thought I’d get that in there lol.
