  1. Location is as they say"the key" , but just because you spot some fish doesnt mean they are their to stay , you have to try and understand , Have they just Got their ,Are they about to leave or are they the for the duration ., this I cant explain how you know its something you learn to understand through experience and time, and you dont get it right every time.
  2. Two lines I use and would always recommend are , Berkely Big Game 15 lbs and Whychwood DPM 18 lbs , bullet proof line IMO , either of these will reach around 100 yds with a 2 oz weight with a reasonable 3.25 TC rod
  3. Confidence for me is firstly choosing a swim I feel I will catch in , so if I dont find a swim I like then Ill go to a different venue , I have never been one to fit just because their a space available . I have every confidence in the rigs and bait I use ,and as I have said before I believe if im not catching its because the fish are either not their or their not feeding.
  4. It seems to have become so bad that a few clubs have a Total Ban on Drugs and Alcohol with instant dismissal , no ifs no buts out if caught.
  5. Many years ago , long dead now they had a common in their named I believe Herman at over 50lbs, its a very small pond so should suite your first time as you will never be far away from fish.
  6. Look down the second hand route , and buy at least at 50% 0f retail on your budget , their are plenty of mint excellent bargains if you have time to wait .
  7. The Helicopter rig , pay no attention to the hook use what you use, I personally think this is the safest rig .
  8. But yourself a 4oz grip lead used for sea fishing , that will catch any lines that should be their , also doubles up as an excellent grapnel for clearing spots in the weed just lock it up with a cable tie.
  9. A mate I fish with has had his since the late 90s and they were second hand then ,havnt missed a beat for him , he fishes roughly every 3 weeks
  10. Tend to agree with that, I use size 16 and 18 Guru hooks whilst match fishing and the are the equivalent to a 14 and 16 original hook sizes
  11. Had Delkims for more years than I can remember but decided I wanted a change , just for a changes sake and bought the new Fox RX + , love the alarms but comparing battery life to Delkims is light years apart . Delkims Batteries would last a couple of years at least, to be honest I dont know how long they last , and I fish most weekends , Fox at best 6 months , which reminds me I have to change them now AGAIN.
  12. Ahh the Pillow , forgot that on more than one occasion over he years.
  13. They are even in the Real Tree pattern , so even during the day no one can see me wearing them 🤣😂
  14. Where the plastic fails, is in it ability to remain straight at distance , which Carbon does with ease .
  15. Totally agree they are and have used poles in the past , but at £550 ,really , just thinking about the baiting pole thread , to make something almost identical to this is for most so so easy and at fraction of the cost.
  16. I like Fox gear a lot of mine is made by Fox and each to their own how they spend their money , £599 for this , has to be the biggest rip off yet https://www.foxint.com/home/product/halo-illuminated-marker-pole-4-pole-kit-including-remote?c=new-products
  17. Many on my syndicate have tried all manor of different things with varying degrees of success , but in the end they buy a purpose made carbon pole .
  18. So many factors but I suspect bad luck , also if you fish a venue were a few fish have mouth damage you will lose a few no matter what rig you use . I prefer 15 mm baits or their abouts ,i only go bigger if nuisance fish become a problem.
  19. LOL ,the cheap ones are cheap but functional ,thin on the sole though , the genuine Crocs are far superior and much more comfortable . I m Mostly wear them at night , Mostly ………...
  20. Cant help thinking your advertising this venue , not just here but other forums as well .
  21. My Bad , £10;50 for the Khaki ones ,Not Realtree , still good value though for genuine Crocs.
