Are the Emblems big pits ? …Iv got a set of Korum 10ft 2.25lb rods nice and light wouldn’t dream of putting big reels on them also got a set of ESP Quickdraw rods in 10ft but there 3.50lb again would never put big reels on them the balance is all wrong, it’s a joy to use balance tackle I use the Okuma inc 6000 on them they balance the rods perfectly you can get them for around £50 ish. But any reel around that size will do. Go in your local tackle shop and try reels out on rods 👍

What swim are you fishing ?

Well my cobbled together bits and bobs has finally bit the dust. So I’m after a lightweight small pack down size pod to fit in a rucksack or in my case a bike pannier bag, got around £100 to spend. Iv seen the Avid lok down and Sonik xtractor on the YouTube anyone use them or can recommend others ?

Looks like the wind is changing direction tomorrow around midday from a easterly to a westerly so a dawn start for me 🤞

As above, and for me is the weight saving I’m trying to use the bike more often ..

I use all sorts and if I known what the banks are like, concrete used the pod and dirt or gravel take bits off my trusty fox pod…The front buzz bar and sicks are from the pod, I like the bigger diameter of sticks as they grip in the bank better the back bar is a old Cygnet and the rear stick is a fox black label the original ones which are pretty useless I use a stabiliser with it …

After the morning kip I would grab the spinner gear and go for wander around the other lakes, stop to chat with other anglers from across Europe ..used to get back to my swim a bit tipsy many a time 🍷

Iv always wanted to give a swim a rest with no lines in the water but fishing 48hr trips on day tickets I just couldn’t bring myself to do it…. But on a French trip I had 3 good fish on the 1st night but no bites in daylight, what a great relief that was to get a fish on the 1st day. The second day was a carbon copy of the 1st day so decided for the rest of the week I would pull the rods in at dawn bait up then have a morning kip, then fish it at sunset I kept the fish coming all week, and luckily had the most fish…Do I think no lines in the water helped , I’m not sure but i know it didn’t do any harm.

Sadly no fish for me and in hindsight I should’ve moved down the other end of the dock when the wind shifted but gave it another hour in the swim I was in, the swim had done 2 fish two days ago and looked good with a light breeze blowing into it, when I decided to have a proper look down the other end 2 lads were setting up so it was a no no…. And to cap it off when I packed up and rode past they were about to take pics of a carp… lesson learnt 🙄
