main thing to check is that the hook is razor sharp at all times my friend so always check the hook point 

Having looked at your responses to this question the contrarian in me is thinking smaller hooks may be more effective because they are different 😁

Been a good read this . Reminds me of a funny story from a c.com social years ago . A fair bit of drink was involved , which ended up with Lewis forgetting to put his leads on when he cast out for the night ..... needless to say he wasn't on his spots when he reeled in late morning  😅

I lost my mam last year mate, she was 55 and full of health. We found out she had a rare brain disease called vcjd. It was a big shock for me at 28 she was my rock even tho I’m married 😀. It was a big eye opener for me tho and I’d like to think I’m more of a man for it happening. I watched my sisters and my dad care for her and seen how strong they were. Basically made me realise we get one life and you don’t realise what’s around the corner. Big reason I got back into carp fishing, I think being alone and getting comfortable with your own thoughts helps a lot

Try the nose test. If it reeks and look rancid, bin it, if not should be OK.

Never used it but £5 for 1100 metres is pretty good value. I've been using 12lb Gardner GT-HD which is £18 for virtually the same length and really pleased with it. Shimano has always had a pretty good reputation so at that price, you can't go too far wrong.

Hooklink materials, a massive choice which catch many anglers.
 
I have a few hooklink materials from mono, the same as my reel line and Amnesia, coated and plain braids.
 
I try to keep my rigs simple. More anglers are caught up in rig fashion than fish.
My usual starting point is 'old school'; a standard hook either knotless knotted or tied on, with a proper hair made from dental floss or hooklink braid. A line aligned hook, with shrink or silicon tube.
I can use this for bottom baits or snowmen baits, or even pop-ups.
 
Does it catch? Yes!
 
 
 

I've recently become a fan of distance sticks tbh,having fished without them for years I was sceptical but I've never fished so accurately 
Ngt ones £8.95 money well spent in my opinion 

mark the line with a power gum stop knot or line varnish after hitting the clip first time around 
Then you can either go around distance sticks or walk the line out or even cast and wind back to the mark and re clip

Why go fishing to get drunk and high. If that's what you want to do just do in a safer environment. Save the fishing for when you actually want to fish. It is sad and tragic for his family and friends but if you  spend the night by the water drunk and high your asking for trouble.

Pillow loads of times.
Bait on a few occasions.
Worst one was in went to my local about 5 am on a Sunday morning to find it empty , happy days.
Just setting up and I needed to go a loo so packed the stuff back in the car and made the 15 minute journey back home.
Got back , set everything up and realised I'd forgotten all my bait.
Everything back in the car etc.
Got back set everything up again , just cast out the 1st rod and the bailiff turns up and tells me the lake is shut for a club match.
Went back home and got drunk.

Whilst on the bank once, I forgot I was supposed to be going to work... 

Some week ago I left my landing net (for fly fishing) at home. At the sunrise arrived at the lake, prepared my fly fish equipment and discovered the unique landing net Inthe car was a 42" (not good to take around a reservoir).
Imagine a fly fisherman, with a 42" landing net inside a t-shirt. That was me 😂
