Well I have had the throat surgery, been good, pretty much isolated myself for 7days. On Monday I drove up to see my daughter and granddaughter and have a few hours fishing the river Wensum. I'm now in the still painful stage of the scabs in my throat falling away, so on the recovery road. Decided to have a few days chasing rainbows on the syndicate. One thing I can guarantee is that having abscesses burnt away and tonsils removed is not as painful as the recovery. Struggled to eat for 4days, but now nearly eating properly although slowly. I do have to regain the 10kg I lost from January to now.2 points -
I've just had the best fight of my life, fish was kiting down the res from 100 yards out, it was a long slow plod towards me until about 40 yards, started going again, got it back to about 20 yards and it just went off, the rod went in half with it just charging off, it kept doing this for about 15 20 minutes, every time I gained some it just took off again, I didn't want to tighten the clutch anymore at risk of losing it and the rod was already going in half π€£. I eventually got it into the net and straight away knew it was a chunk π€£ 33lb on the nose!!! Guys i am absolutely buzzing, my adrenaline is going and my hands are still shaking ππ€£ I do have some photos on the dslr too, they came out acceptable to me but still can't get the focus correct. But it don't matter tbh I'm happy with my phone photos and can look back on them ππππ fish has destroyed me π€£π€£π€£ In the middle of the fight my second rod went off, then the third at the same time. Once the fish was in the sling I lifted into the second rod and connected to a fish, starting getting it back but it Bumped off, so drops that rod and lifts into the 3rd rod and landed a little common about 10lb All rods are out the water and I feel done inπ€£ might have a chill tonight then get rods back out early with a fresh lot of bait π2 points

There's not much to report really, after the 24 this morning I've had countless doubles, I think im on 16 or 17 fish π€£ I showed an angler the 33 I caught and he said its called "black spot" and is the one of the best looking commons in the res π1 point -
If itβs the aniseed version I canβt see the point in adding molasses to it personally if it is plain then Yes but each to their own you could also just mix some marmite with hot water and get that yeasty effect never neglect the cupboards at home for alternative liquids or powders1 point

I like to leave some liquid in my particles, I find they keep better wet. I also tend to add molasses after cooking too. Then they start to ferment after a little while.1 point -

Salt can definitely stop hemp splitting, so if you do add salt, put it in the bucket before you pour your freshly boiled hemp back into it. I prep up hemp and pigeon conditioner for 4/5 day sessions; the first 2 days buckets have no extra water, the last 2 I leave extra water in. If hemp dries out it will float, so the water prevents that.1 point -
Salt can cause issues with hemp splitting I have kept it with and without water1 point

Thanks everyone. Am I better keeping it all with a covering of juice whilst it's in the bucket or leave it with no juice(does it keep better) Would rather ask on here as there's so much conflicting info on the twinternet. For example hinders say to add salt to the soaking process but I've thought salt causes issues with splitting π€·π½ββοΈ I've kept the juice from the hemp, tigers, conditioner and I've soaked the cut maize in the water I boiled the maize in1 point -

Short answer..... no π I can make a few recommendations but you'll need more than 500 if you're buying new mate. First thing to decide is whether you want a compact, a DSLR, or a mirrorless. You can get compacts with big sensors and these are capable of brilliant shots. My recommendation would be the CANON PowerShot G7X Mark II. It's not DSLR quality, but most would struggle to tell the difference. They cost just over 600 quid. Next would be DSLR. They're cheaper than mirrorless but there's a reason for that. None of the OEM's are developing DSLR lenses any more. There's still loads available, but what you see on the market now is what you get - no more development (the technology is slowly being replaced with mirrorless). It's no secret that the quality of DSLR shots is great. My recommendation would be the Canon EOS 250D which is the cheapest Canon with a flip screen. It's about Β£750 with a standard kit lens. You can add an EF 50mm f1.8 lens for about 120 quid which will get you AMAZING shots. Then mirrorless. A mirrorless camera is basically a DSLR without a mirror which offers advantages. This is basically the future of photography, but they're still quite expensive. The most cost effective flip screen Canon mirrorless is the EOS R50 which comes in at about 900 with a standard kit lens. Lenses tend to be pricey but for 200 notes you could get the RF 50mm f1.8 which again will give you awesome, awesome shots. Both the DSLR and the mirrorless above have quite big APS-C sized sensors. The next step up would be to go to a full frame sensor.... but we're then talking mega bucks. OR... you could go second hand which opens up loads of options!1 point

Matching spod rods? Free spirit helical spod

The spod rod was in a magazine feature from memory, rods were placed in 3 price ranges, this won the mid price range with all 3 judges and I think 2 also had it as their overall favourite to use.1 point -

Thanks for the info mate I would consider second hand reconditioned for sure, had looked at a few online. I thought mine would last my lifetime but it won't even take a picture or respond to any button pressing.0 points
