Renewal of res ticket. Gone up £40??? For what?? I'm not too sure I'm getting my moneys worth. However, after visiting a commercial day ticket recently, I feel very lucky to fish there and have all the space I could ever want😊 Now, I just need the time to put in a bit of effort and find the fish

    Old line

As somebody who used to change his line at least once or twice a year, I only just changed my line last week after 3 years of regular use. That is heavy fishing with Gardner Pro, in weed, playing fish, casting etc.

    Old line

If it's not been subjected to light, it should be fine. If you are worried, walk it off and reattach it so the inner line is now the outer. I've kept lines in an old biscuit tin for years without any worry. As Yonny says, give it a good test.

I hope so the lake is 4ft up at least on last years drought level, the lowest swim is still over a foot under water and no overflow to speed things up a bit. πŸ‘Ž I was seriously worried about the lack of rain last summer as all the ressies etc were incredibly low, now they're overflowing, happy days!

    Old line

I wouldn't like to say, but I changed mine every year regardless, fishing nearly every weekend.... BUT in the end after ALOT of money spent, Katran Crypton 17,5lb 1000mtr was the line for me.

    Dogs and fishing

So what are you saying fellas ? ; it reads like you both want to be made a fuss of 😁 . I'm a Postie , and usually what happens is a passing dog may strain at its lead to come over to me , and have a good sniff of my trainers . Then I'll give the dog a stroke after letting it sniff my hand . I just love meeting handsome dogs , who are much prettier than their owners 🐢.

  13. I know this is an old thread but thought I would help if I could. Ive heavily fished the Nene from Fitzwilliam Bridge to Orton for over 50 years now. It depends what youre after. Ive had massive bream nets over the bridge at the other barge, Fish right on the end of it. I night fish 90% of the time. For bream I use a night float,6lb line, size 10 hook, big chunk of flake, quite close in maybe 12 foot out not far off the tip of barge. They hoover up groundbait so once feeding give them some. Carp often shoal up with them. I had a night 2 years back when I had 12 fish over 10lb and the biggest was 14lb5oz. Amazing night but you often get 10lb+ there. You can also get carp from same spot. Casting to far bank tho theres often guys carping there tho. Largest Ive had is 27lb on boilies.

  14. I used to fish for barbel with a quarter of a tin of spam! (The photo is only a sixth of a tin) The first time you cast it out, you feel like a complete noddy and can't believe it's going to work. I also caught plenty of chub as well. The photo is a genuine dropped run - you normally fish the bail arm open and allow a few seconds for the fish to get the bait into it's gob properly.
