  4. I'd figured it out that you were talking about Earith. Originally Ian didn't think or know there were any catfish in Virginia, but I think at some time Pingrees and Virginia had joined in floods and a couple of cats decided to go for a visit.

  5. Tbh I kind of knew who was where before I got there, and that was pretty much as good as I could've hoped for. There was 5 on last night so I kind of had the choice of 2 areas one which I could've been hemmed in but probably would have had a small chance or where I was where I thought I had a big bit of water to try and find them. You are right though, I could've and should've looked a bit more but I knew the rain was coming and it had been a long day β˜”πŸ™„ I'm still trying to make them work at the minute, I learn something each time so it's OK, I will have a chance at some point ☺️

  6. But it can take some time before the balance is met. Zander went through my local canals leaving very little, and took at least 10 years or more for things to start balancing out. And who's to say it'll happen again, as there becomes more prey fish, and so the predortary fish population will increase.

  7. I think its nonsense to say that if you have cats you wont have prey fish, there is a balance found. Big cats are in Bluebell Lakes yets all hold good numbers of Tench, Bream, Roach , Perch etc and I've seen these prey fish masses on sonar in the winter so I know for a fact they are rich in prey, despite holding many huge cats, many! I was a young angler when they used to say kill Pike because they eat everything, I left one on the bank then thought hang on this is nonsense I'm never doing that again. It was ignorance on the part of the clubs or whoever was supposed to be running the venue. Predators will go for the weak first and foremost and that can be seen as a good thing for a healthy population. Biggest threat to prey fish is Cormorants, carp Otters. I'm not a cat fan at all btw
