  1. Blank from me, had lots of new bits lately so it's to be expected, don't think many have been catching though, sent the Jolly Roger out on its maiden voyage, Had a couple of issues with a sticking trap door but once I got that sorted it was fine(dryish mix required and don't put gooed up solid bags directly on it šŸ˜‚) bit slow but for Ā£100 it will do the job, otherwise was nice to be out had a chicken jalfrezi and a beer, slept fairly well, was plenty warm enough in my navitas onesie, got woken up by a duck fight at 6:20 and I had bacon rolls for breakfast šŸ˜‚ Home now šŸ‘

  2. I have the joy of packing up today. Blanked, but to be honest I expected it. Far better 4nights fishing than watching rubbish television. The lake only occasionally throws up a fish in winter. Nothing carp wise has been out since December. It was the same last year, nothing out after the equinox until the spring. When those fish could be anything from 20 to 50lbs though...

    Anyone else winter fishing

Blank for me too! The bailiff said the same as above, no carp out since last year. Hopefully they will switch on in April when I next get out. Nice to get on the bank, though

    Anyone else winter fishing

I always fish on my own have done for years, my mates do fish and we always used fished together and I have some great memories but we have all gone into different disciplines of the sport now, I do enjoy fishing on my own for me personally I think I put more effort in when I'm fishing on my own. šŸ‘

  7. I got the beach rods out this morning, 10mins in, the sea crashed over the sea wall and far too many gallons of freezing seawater landed right on me! Both waders filled to my knees, totally soaked through top to toe. Manned it out for an hour or so, but 6oz leads were been thrown up the shingle by the force of the swell, so I gave it up and went home early.

  8. Buzzards, skylarks, grey wagtails, Egyptian and Canada Geese, along with the swans for me. That south easterly wind made it tough packing up. I would much rather have stayed curled up in the bag watching the water.

    Dogs and fishing

Hi Carpbell I'm a Postie and I love meeting peoples Dogs , giving them a stroke , and not having to walk / clean up after them / feed them ! . Dave has certainly mastered the " look at me I'm a cutie pose " . I'm rather taken with a couple of French Bulldogs on my " Walk " at the moment , but if I ever got a dog (not really practical ) I think it would be a Spaniel . šŸ˜ƒ

  13. Hi Nick It's great that you , and others on the Forum , enjoy yourselves even though you haven't caught anything . My Wife says she gets it when I come home and asks me if I had any " no , buts " i.e. " No , but I saw the Kingfisher , and the Buzzards were flying low enough to see clearly " . šŸ˜ƒ

    Dogs and fishing

Behind me Davie and push me forward... see they got a few pics up of dave looking all cute and butter like might nip in and see him this week, he looks like he has lost a bit of weight i said they needed to cut the food for obedience out with a dog like dave i still reckon someone is shaking a sausage at him in those new pics, he is my sort of dog other than when he play fights it can go from 0 to max in a blink of an eye but he is still playing, i seen a video of when they first got him , put him in with two well trained german shepherds that could handle his rough play, i got to say i didn't fancy their chances much, he was all over them with a big stupid grin and a waggy tail the dog just didn't care.

  19. I wish on a carp! Once the shelter is built then it is easy to keep warm, dry and out of the wind. I think this winter is the most I have set the bivvy or brolly up before getting the rods out, usually I get the rods out first before the bivvy in case I spot a fish and want to move. Putting the bivvy up almost tethers you to the spot.

  20. There was just me and one other on for the night, I had two small carp around 7lb and on the second one I got my net caught on some brambles and was pulling it to free it and snapped the spreader block, plastic stinky winky block. So my session was brought to an abrupt end at 2am. I was absolutely gutted mate could not believe it.šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜
