    Short session food?

If it’s a daylight trip of 12 hrs, flask of hot water to make coffee couple of sandwiches and 6 digestive biscuits to with with the 3 cups of coffee and a bottle of water 48 hr, Weetabix and proper coffee for breakfast, lunchtime soup and a bread roll and for tea home made curry and rice, nx day the same but a proper 100% beef burger for tea.

  2. I would just go straight through with mono I think, keep it simple, I would probably just use hookable baits too,

  3. Kinda the same really you use the bacon fat to so it isn't dry on the pan much like you should use butter on the outside in a breville, I don't take butter either, occasionally peanut butter though and I'll make an elvis burger with it πŸ˜‚

    Short session food?

What do you class as a short session if I’m doing a day trip I will just buy a meal deal from a shop πŸ‘ maybe a flask of tea or coffee too. Are you putting your bread in a cool bag with ice blocks or something? I usually put half a loaf for bacon sandwiches in my fishing rucksack and never had any problems, will keep for a good 48 hours πŸ‘πŸ‘ Easy foods for me are pot noodles, super noodle now do pot noodles you just add water lol. Tea and biscuits, big soup, all day breakfast in a tin, it tastes rubbish but it will do for fishing πŸ˜‚ I can’t be bothered with the cleaning up anymore so just try to cook everything with a kettle or the 1 saucepan or frying pan πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    Back to pastures old

Got some new bait today 20kg of a new test bait from Retrobaits, I had a chat with Nick Burrage and quite fancied trying this one, it's caught some nice fish already and should work well for my autumn campaign, got it in big dumbells, to match my big pellets which are nearly bream proof πŸ˜…πŸ˜ Not quite sure it will all go in the freezer yet πŸ˜‚

  6. Nice mate, I've always loved watching the float, who doesn't and they don't spook from a vertical line - seen lots of evidence of that. If I was on the right type of water I would give it a go straight away, always have a couple of floats in the tackle box but my waters are gravel pits that mostly have shallow margins, gradually getting deeper and often have surface weed to 10-20 yards out. Give me a farm pond, float and centrepin and I would be well happy πŸ‘

  7. Yes mate, spot on. The idea of a soft hook link really works on most waters I've tried it. Short maybe 4'' on a cut down Korda safe clip with a ring at the business end. I can in turn use a light or heavy lead depending on the situation. You would be amazed Kev how often a big carp will take a float fished bait (line coming up in the water) rather than a normal ledgered bait, even when fishing a slack line. My water is slightly coloured and I fish the float slack, so any carp running into the line feels nothing. All too often I see guys sitting behind 2/3 rods when the fish are right in the margins or weed. The float is great in the weed as I can use a one 2/3 ounce lead, and have it running after the take. I got the idea from a Martin Bowler article some years ago, and its caught me some nice fish since. Its deadly in the margins as they think the float os a reed stem wafting about. Cheers Richard.

    Short session food?

I've lost a few lbs recently thanks to the puppy walking, maybe I should try a wholemeal pitta again and try a lose a few more 😁

  9. Porridge for breakfast in the winter, with goat's milk for me, done and eaten straight from the pan, but topped with a dessert spoon of soft brown sugarπŸ˜‰ Add a coffee from the Bialetti and I'm happy

  10. Oh and only if it's a wholemeal pitta lol - sad times, can't forget that bit 🀣

  11. Yes I do use a coated braid for most of my bottom bait ledgering. I can see why you would just incorporate one of your made up rigs for convenience, but equally I can't see why you couldn't just go mono straight through. I'm sure it wouldn't matter either way tbh. Just the old school images in my head of float setups coming through I guess πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘

  14. Not sure mate, the waters I've been fishing have deeper areas but not all over. I've not noticed them moving up or down in the water, rather a total cease in activity πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

  16. CheersπŸ‘ As a Teacher my holidays are fixed so I fish mid-week during holidays and then return to odd weekends during term time. I’m a habitual watcher of the weather but in practical terms I go when I can.

    Short session food?

Give it a lot more years and you'll be having grilled chicken and steamed veg on the bank, how I miss the extra fat on a bacon roll days πŸ€£πŸ‘

I cook the bacon then pour the fat onto the roll in place of butter. One less thing to take πŸ˜†

Cook the bacon in the toastie maker first then cheese and put cooked bacon in the sandwich and toast, it's a bit special πŸ˜‚

    Short session food?

Bacon rolls. The food of Kings. The bread shouldn't be going dry on a day session. Just wrap the rolls up in a bagπŸ‘
