  1. Instead of โ€˜pullingโ€™ the needle through, try โ€˜pushingโ€™ the leadcore off the needle.

    Leadcore splicing help

I have also found that not putting too much of the tag end in the gate of the splicing needle helps when pulling back through.

  5. I dont think it usually needs yanking through tbh, I have developed a sort of technique where I almost shake it back through the splice hole I never wet mine either, Aren't you meant to splice the leadcore with the leadcore from that section removed? Much the same as a lead free leader

  7. Send it back mate - if its not right it's not right, you can't be expected to fix a new reel with washers! Shimano has obviously gone down hill a bit with the quality of their reels. My new spod reel ceased up on it's first outing, I got it moving again but really not the point, I have the expectation now that it will happen again mid session, didn't think I would ever be bad mouthing Shimmy but a sign of the times., I should have sent that back but didn't - you've reminded me what a fool I've been.

    Leadcore splicing help

Yeah mate you need to remove the lead, for example say 7 inches, stick needle in where you broke the lead off, go up 3 inches, attach needle to the end of the leader and pull the end back through. So basically thereโ€™s no lead in the loop or the few inches where you spliced ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

    Leadcore splicing help

Yeah Iโ€™m closing the gate and Iโ€™ve tried a few needles including the Korda one. For some reason I struggle with the last bit of pulling the leadcore through itself. I am removing the leadcore as well

    Leadcore splicing help

The fox blue splicing needle is good, What leadcore are you using? And are you removing some of the leadcore, I don't use leadcore as it's banned most places I fish, but I use Gardner camflex unleaded, it splices like a dream ๐Ÿ‘

    The revolutionary bald rig.

When you say missed takes I'm guessing you mean hook pulls? I only ask as how do you know the fish has picked up your hookbait and spat it out or not? Unless you fish the margins and see what is happening. I've watched numerous underwater videos of carp feeding with rigs present and nearly all are picked up and rejected, have you witnessed carp take your rig in to its mouth?

    Thought of the Day pt.2

the reason why engineers don't make good doctors is exemplified below. drove to the shop yesterday on the way i get a knocking in what i thought was the driver side wheel gear so i gets home because it was bad and come on all of a sudden, whipped the driver side wheel off, inspected all the ball joints and bushings i was expecting to find problem with the wheel bearings if not the rubber bits, but nothing i'm really annoyed by this point, so i go to take the other side wheel off and right in front of my face was a massive bolt head screw in the tyre lol the head was that big it was causing a knocking coming up through the steering , a doctor would of spotted that straight off the bat, damn bolt was huge, my tyre as good as ate it.

    Spawning

Quite ironic really , its not a problem to fish for Pregnant fish, fat footballs ,rolled around on a mat then weighed and photographed for a PB , but as soon as they spawn its a no no , your spawn of Satin if you do whilst spawning. Doesnt seem to apply to France, even the owners wont close and refund you , when you spend hundreds of pounds for a holiday , the times I have read , The fish were spawning the time we were their only caught a few . they never packed up and came home . Spawning fish dont eat whilst they are doing it ,but are hungry afterwards .
