  1. Pillow loads of times. Bait on a few occasions. Worst one was in went to my local about 5 am on a Sunday morning to find it empty , happy days. Just setting up and I needed to go a loo so packed the stuff back in the car and made the 15 minute journey back home. Got back , set everything up and realised I'd forgotten all my bait. Everything back in the car etc. Got back set everything up again , just cast out the 1st rod and the bailiff turns up and tells me the lake is shut for a club match. Went back home and got drunk.

    Losing the buzz

Id suggest maybe trying something different for a bit mate, I had a wobble about 18 months ago, so I started fishing the rivers for chub and barbel and really enjoyed a new challenge, through winter I then started targeting perch using u/L spinning methods catching fish to just over 2lb, I then moved over to the canal during the close season just fishing for bits, then hooked into a canal carp, successfully landing it. The carp fishing buzz is now back for me and as strong as ever, im now preparing for a autumn/winter campaign on the canal, which again is a totally new challenge. It all came full circle in the end. Try something new mate, hopefully you will enjoy a new style of fishing and hopefully make it full circle and crack on with your carp fishing again.

  5. In the van somewhere is an 18L pail, heavy duty bin liners, a toilet seat, toilet paper, and a shovel, (just in case there's no place to put it).

  6. You're not easily put off are you , Mufty ? . The thing I don't understand is doesn't your local have any trees and bushes tucked away , and together with a trowel you wouldn't need to go home .? . 😃

  12. ATTs work under water... couldn't afford the top flight Delkims and heard they take a fair bit of setting up, so went with the Gardner ATTS... £250 for 3 alarms and receiver had them 7 years now, nary a glitch... having said that they'll go pear shaped next time out... My old Optonics are still going strong too... although they don't fare so well if it pee's down

    how many beeps?

Quick question, when experiencing these drop backs, where you striking immediately, or reeling down until you took up any slack before striking? If it was a take and the fish was moving towards you then immediately striking will just cause you to strike up the slack and not set the hook properly. I always reel down and "catch the lead up" before striking. If it's liners, then depending on severity, depends on whether I reposition it or not, if I feel the lead has in any way moved, I'll redo it. or else braid and a 8oz uptiding grip lead will sort them out... (Or maybe not try that one! Lol!)

    how many beeps?

If you're unsure whether the bleeps are liners or pick-ups change your rigs over to something that will tell you if you've been done, such as a multi-rig or blow back with silicon down the hook shank. Reel in after an occurrence you look at the hook end - if your been done you'll see straight away, if everything is normal it wasn't a pick-up, so a liner or trailer. Just a thought 👍
