  2. What amuses me is that roller wheel alarms are all based on the original Optonics if you think about it. A 2 or 4 vane (or more if you had some craft skills) wheel breaking a beam of light. It is effective when used in conjunction with an indicator keeping the line taut and on the wheel. Technology may have advanced, it may now be magnets turning past a detector, but it is still a roller wheel. It was Delkim who launched the vibration sensing ST's, plug out to a wired receiver and then the TXi with wireless receiver, although they and Les Bamford had done conversions to a reed switch wheel on the original Dellareed Optonics. There were other attempts at vibration sensing, Bitech Viper. I think that it was a 'law' change in the 1990's that saw radio channels able to be used for wireless signals, although I may be wrong, but I do remember many radio stations switched or also transmitted from AM, or MW and LW, to FM. As for alarms, as I have mentioned, on a day session I prefer to hear the alarms themselves, whereas at night I need and use the receiver. Now that means that, to me, there is a market for both as not every angler will fish nights, doesn't want or need a sounder or receiver box. A long way away from being bivvied up as close as you could possibly get to the rods on the original alarms that made hardly any noise.
  3. Today
  4. Sorry, wrong choice of words really ☹️, I just don't actually think it is advancement over the current ATTs range.
  5. They’ve just put a video on social media of someone’s delks surviving a garage fire.
  6. It was discontinued because they bough the TLB+ out. I strongly suspect the TLB+ will be discontinued when the new ATT comes out. Not sure I follow you here. I'm talking about interest in the product from anglers. Not websites or advertising. Loads of guys on the bank are keeping an eye this. Why would you hope the product doesn't succeed?
  7. Yesterday
  8. Not sure about 'no brainer' 😀. The TLB had a speaker and they discontinued it, not sure it needed a reciever to actually make a run tone tho?? As for loads of interest, well only thing I dug up was that youtube vid I posted ages ago, nothing on theirweb site lol Anyway, each to his own, I cannot see this being a winner, and in an odd way I hope it isn't...... just stick to the old skool stuff a lot of us old gits love about ATTs
  9. I can guarantee you right now that they will sell. They've drummed up loads of interest. It is a complete no-brainer to offer one with a speaker. For every guy that prefers the speakerless version, there's one that prefers a speaker. It's a win-win for them to offer both. Their only other remote alarm is based on a design that's nearly 30 years old (TLB+), and even that needs the ATT receiver.
  10. Ian. Totally agree, I will never change from my original ATTs alarms, tbh I just wonder how these 'improved' ones will actually sell? Oh hold on a minute 'cr*pology' will no doubt do the usual rave review when they come out 😀 It wont boost any sales tho imo. Don't change ATTs, I have no intention to change mine 👍
  11. I was talking to someone yesterday and he just came back from a week in France he actually witnessed a delkim melting in the heat lol that one definitely won’t be waterproof
  12. They are the the basic ( no receiver ) but for us day session anglers they are perfect. You can also select led colour in the settings
  13. Blimey they were about that price 30 years back - that is great value 😎
  14. I don’t think you can fault the Fox Micron range. They just work and the new basic ones are perfect value for money £25 each ( why pay more ) !
  15. I've seen people moaning about the new ones still, wouldn't touch with a barge pole tbh
  16. Well done lads on the June captures 👍
  17. Last week
  18. I won't be changing over. When I bought mine the attraction was that if I had a take only I would know, not every angler within earshot. I like silent heads and don't want or need speakers. Ian.
  19. The only putty I will use is still Kryston Heavy Metal. I have not found a good enough replacement. I've checked the new Heavy Metal, it is the same as the original, but as @Golden Paws has said, putty can get misshapen and in the hot weather in the UK at the moment, or Signal crayfish will pinch and eat it, (and tungsten loaded rig and anti-tangle tubing). Your alternatives look good, and as long as they work. I use match or pole anglers olivettes, either with the hole through the middle or fixed with tubing, lock and slide, usually Drennan.
  20. I stay in North Texas, some people refer it the beginning of tornado alley there's days. So it can be rough
  21. If crays are in the water then Stay away from tungsten
  22. https://esp-carpgear.com/product/balance-beads/ I've pretty much given up rig putty. I've lost too much and it doesn't seem to keep it's shape. I've been using ESP tungsten balance beads for quite a few years and can't see myself ever going back. The photo is a Flipper rig (the bottom bit of shrink tube pushes to the bend of the hook) and my bait has been nibbled away by roach or bream but the bead is on a Combi rig and pushes into the knot and pretty much stays there. Its dead easy to reuse it as well, just push it onto a small baiting needle.
  23. I sold my ATT’s alarms as I found in daylight it was hard to see the underlit wheel led so only knew which rod had the take by the dangling bit indicator moving. Now use Fox alarms with dual LEDs on the ears and a lot more visible
  24. I have a JRC Defender chair which is ok until the rear legs decide to unlatch and the chair collapses!
  25. There's plenty of alternatives to putty and yours looks like an acceptable solution, but I'd be asking why it's disappearing in the first place. Are you fishing rivers with big flow? Wind on a lake shouldn't be enough to remove putty. Are there crayfish in the waters you fish?
  26. some close up of the rigs i believe theyre all size 6 n 8s
  27. Hey yall, thanks in advance Here's my problem, recently it's been very windy so the waters have been quiet rough. well after an hour i noticed my dark matter putty was gone from all 3 of my rigs. Fortunately i had a few dropshots, and after my session I still lost one. I'm on disabilitity money is tight and i can't be buying that expensive putty all the time, or at all it was a bday gift among other items. Thinking it through, I came up with this idea to shrinkwrap dropshots so I wont lose them again. I"m still learning about carp fishing, I use boilies mainly. Can this work ? if there's anythinmg i can do to make them work or jsut completely forget about this idea thanks again
  28. Been making do with a folding camping chair since i came back to fishing, but fished yesterday and was so tired kept thinking need a recliner to snooze in mentioned to my mate on the lake Smithy and he sold me his JRC recliner chair in mint condition for 40 notes ideal
