2, what lb line you use and if you use a leader

3, the distances your are achieving

4, the size water (feel free to give multiple answers r varying sizes of water

5, the length of rod

Thanks in advance

It's just purely intrigue, I was watching a video of some casting tuition (my casting leaves a little to be desired) and was surprised by some of the things that I saw and heard and where changed to achieve a greater distance for the gentlemen being taught . I just wanted to see a wider selection of set ups to see how they compared and you guys where the perfect group to ask

Tell you what, i know nobody has heard of those reels i've now got but they are well made, cheap and cast well and have a qd type drag on em, just over a quarter of a turn and in freespool, not that i use it much!, nice thick bail arm. Better than the Wychwood riots i had

Like jh92 I have 2 set ups

First is for larger waters or waters that contain cats

Penn Affinity 8000's

15lb tigerline no leader

120 yards at a real push

Varying waters up to 40ish acres

12ft   3.25  torrix

2nd is my preferred set up, when I can get away with it

Shimano ultegra 5500 mini pits

12lb tigerline, no leader

No need to go past 65/70 yards

Varying waters to around 6 acres

12' 6" century AK 47's twin tips, 1.75 and 2.75 tips but only really use the 1.75 tips (utter joy for playing fish on)

Shimano Beastmaster XTA 7000 Big Pit with a Baitrunner free spool system.

15lb Gardner Pro Light, no leader

130metres I think, I have not measured it for some time, and have not yet pushed it with my new rods, I am estimating, so could be well out, although I don't think I am overestimating

60 acres

12feet rod.

I use big pit reels, 2.75lb 12ft rods, 12lb mono line without a leader, fishing lakes anywhere between 5 and 15 acres.   Range....not nearly enough, but probably 90yrds max (with a stringer or small pva mesh).

I also fish the margins, typically with a 2.5lb rod, 6010 Baitrunner and 8 or 10lb mono line (can't remember).

1, Daiwa Tournament QDA Big pit
2, 15lb Gardner Pro Dark Blend – no leader
3, never really taken much notice of actual distance, probably around 70-80 yrds maximum at the minute at a guess.
4, Anything from 2 acres to 60 for now.
5, 12ft Torrix 3.25

My current setup is massively overgunned for the distance I currently fish, and the size of fish I am fishing for to be honest. However I will be moving onto far bigger waters (100+ acres) soon and I haven't got the storage space or money for multiple setups. When I bought my gear I did so very carefully, with the plan to be able to cover everything Carp fishing would throw at me, be that long distance or margin/surface fishing, snaggy underwater forest or barren clay pit on one setup.

So far, so good. :)

Reels. Shimano Bigbaitrunner Longcasts.

Line. Sufix Synergy 15lb, no leader.

Distance. As appropriate, also frequently down the edge.

Size of water. Wherever I choose to go. Unless I'm at Horseshoe, then it enormous.

Rods. Greys Prodigies in 3lb test. Custom full cork handles. 12ft.
