Honestly, I've only got the 2 who I really go fishing with, or it's on my own with the pooch....

This weekend it's with my lad n Dog.... 1 mate doing 24hr from Saturday morning, 1 mate doing the day Sunday.

I've just setup my marker rod, gonna give em abit of bait when there Friday night, but not fish on it until tea time day after.... 1 rod out, 1 rod margins.

i find you are better off just being sociable to those you meet when out so long as they haven't got that elite angler vibe about them, there was a bait tester on a other lake that could be a complete annoyance if it didn't go right for him or couldn't get his chosen peg, the remarks would start, very passive aggressive of course, i just get the spom rod out and froth it up some more, with my two kilo of bait for three rods for three days, ain't moving mate., considering i had the two biggest known fish out and others, i'd say my tactics are solid. 😆

A mate who I haven't fished with in a while is out with us at weekend... Im doing from Friday night until Su day morning... He's turning up Su day morning... He's the mate who sells up, buys again, sells up, buys again.... This time he's sold all his match/coarse gear and bought all NEW Carp this morning.

Sonik Vader X RS 3 Rod n Reel setup, Sonik Landing Net, the New Sonik Vader X 3 Rod alarm set, Sonik Stanz 3 Rod buzz bars n sticks, SKTek rod Holdall n Carryall, Korda Tackle Box with just enough terminal to fill it...

He's off his rocker... But will have a good FINAL setup eventually he says... Now wants an AXS Bivvy n all SKTek range to go with it.

Then tomorrow he's off for some Sticky Bait, unhooking may, Chair.

He has asked to buy his trakker Barrow back, but I've took the bag off n swapped out wheels, to put on my Fox Barrow.

at least you have angling mates, i offer to get my mates into angling and they take it as come along sit in the peg and land the odd fish, i don't do it anymore get some tackle the tickets pick your own peg and i will help with the set up and tactics all of a sudden they lose interest, one guy i had to stop going out with, i'd pay for ticket and he would sneak a rod out, everyone knew what he was up to, park lake as well.

  3. wait till you are in your 50's if i sit down in the afternoon, i'm falling asleep, afternoon naps must have a bit of spanish in me. for the first time ever i'm getting regular lower back pain, stand in the shower too long and your disks start you off singing.

  4. oh dear fred really is one of those dogs, out walking him this evening up the woods some jogger comes steaming towards us making noises like a boxer crossed with a runner in his 50s wearing shorts fred has already pinned him as a wrong un as his approaching, so i moved fred to my left so the mountaineer bionic man guy could stay the other side of me, my dog hadn't made a sound or reacted, dopey was staring that hard at my dog he tripped on a tree root and flew to a skidding stop just past us, i turned to see how he ended up and you should of seen the look on his face typical jogger that busy looking for a problem he tripped over a glorified twig, he was desperate to blame the dog, not a chance jelly legs...

  5. Getting much better since his first angling trip went past several dogs today and no barking and baying get him out again next week turning out to be a real nice dog quite chilled even dare i say.

the swimming coat pic i reckon he might of learnt something that day?

    Anyone out tonight or weekend?

planning to make my first visit to the new water on wednesday, got a bag of JB's bio shellfish with shrimp extract and plum flavour to mix up and roll also got a bag of wacker catcher peach and pepper glugged up in the freezer.

  7. well that was an event, first night out with fred of course he slipped his harness and went for a swim, nearly made it to the island in the middle before i had to use my terrier voice he turned and came back, had his coat on as well real strong and keen swimmer, shocked him a bit when he seen i was still on the bank and not swimming with him. anther dog came in the bivvy he was ok with that. not bad considering there was a group of lads a few pegs down breaking wood and having a fire. just watching them no barking.

i had two out a common around 12 lb and slightly bigger mirror.

  8. i usually leave the line in water overnight if i have time and not last minuting it label side up just winding through the butt section and a damp cloth, the gardner hd line went on lovely as did the fox fluro i was surprised by just how well that loaded, you do need to keep the tension when opening the baile arm though that's the same for tiger line for the first few sessions then it really starts to work nice.

To be fair it has been under extreme tension on my reel for a few weeks now so it should be ok as in not spring off the reel at the end of the cast. chucked across the field with a 3 oz distance lead it really did sink in and i wound in under the lead in mud tension.

be out this week just nipping to a local water for a overnighter.

It’s all gobbledygook to me but it do look a bit like my fish tank  🤔

that's the bit i struggle with it takes a birds eye view and displays a 2d pc game view, i gussee having the deeper in eye view would give a better bearing on the area and how wide the beam angle is.

  10. Meant to say if anyone has a female dog that's suitable as in size match i would happily let a litter of his pups go no charge open to anyone at their arrangement and my convenience, he would make some real friendly pups that are constant fun, any terrier type dog or gun dog would make a great pup, a beagle would be ideal mix for pets. real nice dog with people and dogs just likes to bay at them if they ignore him when he wants to say hello, if they get fiesty back he does his cry bark, not nice to hear if your a poodle mix owner. He got into it with a big bully type dog that was off lead? walked towards him all ready to start the bloke said jokingly he won't want to play with her? his dog went for mine, mine nutted it under the jaw and i pulled him back, the bully didn't fancey comming in a seconed time, thankfully. i had to put his head halter on after that for a bit till he remembered it's better to have it off, not his fault but he was proper fired up.

  13. also learnt a bit more about him he may be from a line that was sent to the Irish republic and improved in dog lingo, then the line was brought back to England to be bred on, to what would be the original type Jack or fox terrier, looks like he has a bit of beagle to him but he fits the standard of a  non kennel club jack, can't argue with the JRCGB.

  14. getting much better, just took him over the lake i'm going to fish next week no barking and no trying to get the ducks went past a few dogs on his walk, didn't even notice them, going up the farm with him this afternoon let him off lead. getting there he was going after traffic three weeks back.

  15. lol just got the quote back from the dog trainer lady i had in mind, another one that shys away from terriers she is very good and fair play if she can charge that kind of money, plus the mrs found out and it was a big no from her, he is getting better slightly with other dogs, if they are nice with him he is getting ok to say hello. the trainer lady wanted 155 for a consultation lasting 1 hour then it was 200 a month for two 45 min a month 121 sessions. she mainly works with novice owners by the sound of it,  hopping she may have a few nifty tricks for having a off lead dog i have seen her out with a pack of dogs all off lead all being brilliant.

the farm i had in mind will let me book a field so i can do some off lead stuff 10 for the hour all secure going to take him friday with his live in dog trainer lady.

Ah yes, well as an update, I left both batches outside to air dry and forgot them until 10pm last night. The neighbourhood cat found them and helped herself to a few! (Serves me right) from what’s missing, she much preferred the 2ml flavour batch!
@Carpbell_ll I don’t add any basemix mate, last time I did that, the pop ups all sank! Made decent wafters, but that’s not what I’m trying to achieve in this case.

that's the bit that always got me confused i thought the pop up mix was something you could add to a basemix at say 40 % to make pop ups. i guess it's how mainline and others make their for sale pop ups? with the polaris type mix?

  17. those mean terrier guys lol they love him getting the kind of advice you wouldn't expect from such a group of people he has a real strong interest in horses when i explained it to the guys they quickly stepped in and advised me to be very careful in that situation as he has gone into hunt mode, he sits and watches not a sound. they advise i get him to a dog trainer which i already planned on doing, going to book him in at the dog kennels for the classes they do.

I will take is as a compliment from some of those lads when they say he won't work they are the kind of dog owners that can annoy me with there do or die attitude.  their dogs though, and they do know their onions just wish they would be a bit more pet friendly, they look down on any dog that is not kenneled.

  18. Thought i'd better do a freddie progres thread save filling the fishing dogs thread.

Take it as a warning about nippy little terriers that sometimes aren't that little and need firmly but nicely keeping inline as i have said this is scamps third home, she renamed him after her fav singer due to him singing us the songs of his people all the way home from getting him. think he would of been heading to the shelter if i didn't take him, two others had already refused him too big to be a jack. he would be one of those dogs that can't be rehomed once they ran him through their induction. he had a real tick undercoat that had never been removed and his top coat was far too long for a constant maulter, he let me sort all that no bother finished him with a stripping comb, looks nice and not shedding everywhere. he has no problem with me doing that from day one, i once had a cairn that would hurt you if you groomed her wrong, no problems from the fredster.

wild little git for the first few days but very nice and friendly, i did get him a head halter on friday he don't like it but will have it on when he earns it by mouthing off at other dogs it does calm him down and he walks real nice on it, so that's a start, he is still a pup at 2 years old last march, kinda getting tired of experts asking if he is a mix, even the guy in the pet shop was flapping it really was struggling to hold the P word in, yet over on a site where they keep serious terriers there is doubt the Rushill line jacks can work, not that it bothers me i knew nothing about the dog when i got him real lucky find, he does not have a staffie or P dogs front legs the gap is far to narrow plus a few other things other than the size and shape of his head, massive with a very fine set of teeth nothing like you would see in any type of bull terrier.  the mrs is absolutely smitten with him she thinks he has staffie in him. not even dave has the front legs of a ground terrier but he has got the big bone crusher teeth, same for my Patterdale he had a crazy looking set of back teeth,  i'll go with what the guys on the dog site say, it's a non working/ working country show dog jack russell.

  19. i'd be ok with that sound like a full flavour packed single, as a side do you add any base mix to the polaris never used it, already got some nice base mixes and bits in for paste wraps, might do a few boilies as well, got a sneaky feeling the Indian spice or bio shellfish from JB will be a real stand out bait going forward good quality soluble krill meal is near impossible to get  some bait companies are ending their krill bait due to cost increase. JB imports his krill himself said to be the best krill meal you can get.

Always wanted to try the polaris but have been put off by the lack of mixing instructions for adding basse mix or just using it as is, should be able to get back on track with some home rolling myself, fred will love that.
